We booked a double room with sea view for 4 nights. Fortunately, our room was renovated and we had a fantastic view from the 5th floor. The room and the bathroom were big but the bathroom was so "poor" regarding the shower, the towels and the offered staff for personal cleaning. The biggest problem of the bathroom was the terrible smell and also the corridor smells bad. The staff was polite (is their job) and the breakfast was basic, served in a big dinning room with high ceiling which defiantly needs to be renovated and also the lobby needs renovation too. But I have to admit that the location of the hotel is excellent, near to great restaurants and cafes and near to the old city. The view of the sea from the rooms looking in front is spectacular and for that reason they should reconsider some renovation in order to offer the best package to their clients.
Im here... had a room that does not face the beach and they have not been renovated in 40 years!!!!! the worst bed and horrible pillows. The corridor smells bad. Wont come back even if the location is great
Outstanding view on the 4th floor, the room was brand new with a large Italian bathroom (shower only).I don't know if all the rooms are renovated (better to ask before booking) cos the hotel is a little bit old fashioned but with charm.
we booked this hotel mainly for the location, fantastic room overlooking the med. My wife is confined to a wheelchair and the room was perfect with wet room and plenty of space. The front of the hotel and reception is very classy grand style and very impressive however once you go into the restaurant it goes from The Grand to Fawlty Towers appalling food and very little choice it's a shame as this let the whole place down we ended up eating out most nights although we were on half board. Would recommend booking room only plenty of good places to eat near by. Nice overall is a wonderful city and mostly wheelchair friendly except for the train station no ramps or lifts!!!
We were only in Nice for the day in transit from our cruise and had booked a day room at a nearby hotel. Needing lunch we spotted this place offering a fixed price lunch for €16.90. We liked the look of the menu - grilled salmon, green beans and salad, all served with style under a huge silver dome. The dessert was a choux pastry and all washed down with a glass of wine. While we waited we were served bread and oil/vinegar. The staff were friendly, service was good and food excellent. A perfect place for lunch.
My wife and I stayed at the hotel le royal for 5 days at Easter. We had a room with a sea view that was clean and simple. What I really missed was tea and coffee making facilities. Couldn't have a nice cup of tea first thing in the morning which was annoying and perhaps something for the owners to consider. Breakfast was taken in the spectacular dining room. A real choice of food to enjoy in splendid surroundings. The evening meal menu looks great although we dined out at night. There's a vast selection of restaurants in the street behind the hotel going in the direction of the town centre. The town centre is just a short stroll from the hotel. There's a fan morning flower market where the restaurants start. Some superb flower displays. If we return to Nice we'd certainly stay in the same hotel, but please provide tea and coffee making facilities. The owners need to address that.
The rooms were comfortable and modern although I expected the hotel to be a little more upmarket in the lobby e.t.c The view from our room was gorgeous overlooking the ocean. The reception desk was extremely helpful with our many bags upon arrival and the cool Californian bloke who helped us at 4:00am was truly a gentleman. The hotel is a lower rating but was convenient for us and I give them 4 stars for going above and beyond. Parking is not too far away and you pay a tariff also. Thank you to the lovely reception gents who checked us in and out of the hotel
Arrived for a Stag weekend check in very easy and our twin room was spacious and bathroom very roomy... TV but no English channels - not that I expected any in the south of France. Was too busy to watch TV anyway. Continental style breakfast was great. bar and outside eating area was just off main road but very nice. Didn't use restaurant. Staff helpful on checkout directing to nearest shuttle bus stop and held bags until we were ready securely. The beds were really comfy and air-con as quiet and worked well. Room was on 5th floor.
I booked this hotel quite a while ago and was a little concerned about some of the reviews on here. I didnt need to be. The location is great, on the Promenade des Anglais and not too far to walk into the centre of Nice or the old town which is where all the good restaurants are. As I only intended to use the hotel as a base I deliberately chose a city view room, at the rear - it was clean, recently refurbished I would say, as was the lobby area etc. The bar staff were great, very attentive, breakfast was continental and very fresh as you would expect. The other guests were mainly French and older - but for me that added to the authenticity of the stay. I would recommend and use again when visiting Nice
I have booked for 3 days, the only good thing is the emplacement. Big difference between the punished photos and the reality. Old and not maintained . The safe was broken. Towels were dirty. But the reception personnel were professional. You must pay 50 euros daily to have a room with a sea view.
