I booked this hotel quite a while ago and was a little concerned about some of the reviews on here. I didnt need to be. The location is great, on the Promenade des Anglais and not too far to walk into the centre of Nice or the old town which is where all the good restaurants are. As I only intended to use the hotel as a base I deliberately chose a city view room, at the rear - it was clean, recently refurbished I would say, as was the lobby area etc. The bar staff were great, very attentive, breakfast was continental and very fresh as you would expect. The other guests were mainly French and older - but for me that added to the authenticity of the stay. I would recommend and use again when visiting Nice

I have booked for 3 days, the only good thing is the emplacement. Big difference between the punished photos and the reality. Old and not maintained . The safe was broken. Towels were dirty. But the reception personnel were professional. You must pay 50 euros daily to have a room with a sea view.

We just spent 4 days in Nice and stayed at Le Royal Hotel. The location is great, on the Promenade des Anglais, which is the place to be in Nice ( Pedestrian street in the back with restaurants ans shops, walking distance from Place Massena etc). There was an art display on the hotel front facade with a light show in the evening that was very interesting. The room was great, spacious, looked new, clean, with excellent free WiFi. We had a big terrasse overlooking the Mediterranean sea, and it was surprisingly quiet at night, pleasantly alive at day, but not overly noisy. The staff was great, friendly, and really knowledgeable, and fluent in English: they recommended nice restaurants and places to visit.(i.e. St Paul de Vence ) We only went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. The buffet is great, a lot of options and very good products (the fresh baguette and the local mandarin and lemon jams were to die for!) We also went to the bar for a bottle of Cotes de Provence Rose wine, very good and reasonably priced. We definitely recommend that hotel and will go back if we return to Nice.

I travel a lot and so it happened I had to leave my girlfriend behind and go on a long business trip to Africa. It was her birthday and she went to spend it in Nice with a friend of hers. Gentleman at the Reception Mr Kinan Ayache was extremely helpful in arranging bouquet delivery and payment processing without any problems or delay. Exactly the great service expected from professional hospitality staff. Thanks Kinan! And look after your staff well Hotel Le Royal. Sincerely, Artem

A very nice place to be in Nice. A small room without see view was disappointing but some satisfying breakfast with pancakes was optimizing this nice stay directly at the famous promenade in Nice. I just can recommend this hotel for some short stay in Venice right next to the Casino and Hard Rock Cafe because of a very comfortable bed.

We've stayed at different hotels on the French cote d'azur, and this time we picked Le Royal. Yes, not for any other particular reason than on Promenad des Anglais and closer to the old city than others. We enjoyed our stay just for that reason, not for lack of service, nor for the utterly poor, inadequate breakfast (coffee-machine, out of bread, too few plates), nor for a malfunctioning aircondition or little ants in the bathroom. Not even irritated by the clerk who 'misread' the reservation claiming an excessive rate (so happy for having an electronic copy ofthe order with me). But yes, waking up and opening the door to the view of a blue turquise sea and a rising sun. and then breakfast on the beach or the street, leaves saying yes to an address and a hotel that still has potential.

I stayed one night for business in Nice and decided to stay at Le Royal. The location is great and the price quality is outstanding. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Rooms are spacious and it looks like they have been renovated not so long ago. Air-conditioned and a separate remote to control the temperature in the bathroom. WIFI is good but the only thing is that you have to sign in various times. I made a remark at the front desk and apparently this is about to change. My room was located on the 5th floor, a huge king size bed and a splendid sea view.

Really love the strategic location of this hotel. From the window of the hotel, you can have a fantastic view of the beach front... Fabulous... Lots of cafes and restaurant along the road and it's about 15 mins walk to the local market...It's also a 5 mins taxi ride from the railway station. The tourist shopping street is just a few streets away too. The room is huge but there's no air condition as it's quite hot during then in Oct. The downside of this strategic location is that you can hear the traffic noise when you sleep at night

Le Royal ...avec Fromage! My first visit to the cote d'azure back in 97 I'd come to Medam in Cannes to try and sign a Record deal with a Japanese record company . The Asia stock market crash put pay to that and the deal never happened. However my disappointment soon dissipated as I was seduced by my surroundings. From Nice to Monaco, Antibes to St Tropez I was in love with the South France! So anyway here I am back again to watch my beloved Spurs play Monaco in the Campions league care of a Competition win. Well the tickets were the prize anyway as finding a flight and hotel were down to me with only 48 hours notice!! So thanks to Easy Jet I booked Le Royal on Promenade Des Anglais in Nice as the price seemed very reasonable and that was that I was in my way! When you book a sea view I'm always reminded of the Fawlty Towers sketch with Mrs Richards " You have a Sea view it's over there between the land and the sky .." and then the following exchange with this awkward hearing aided lady about the lack of a decent enough view concluding with " We re in Torquay Madam What did you expect to see the Hanging gardens of Babylon .. herds of Wildebeest sweeping majestically across the plains ?" Well I'm happy to report the view was magnificent , the staff fantastic, friendly, helpful , courteous and dare I say it the ladies very attractive. My two day stay was perfect apart from Spurs losing in Monaco it seemed incidental as I sat at the bar with Christophe discussing my love of French culture. While I was there I visited the memorial to all the people killed in the tragic terrorist atrocity last Bastille Day. I was deeply moved by the outpouring of love , messages , toys and flowers from all over the world . It reminded me that there are far more important things in life and that also love will one day conquer all! Back at my hotel Le petite dejeuner was served and I fell in love with the 'treadmill' style toaster with the words " Non Fromage " written on it! Well final parting shot was to sing to the staff in the main lobby so I guess they got 'ham and cheese' with that regardless!! Thank you Le Royal I will return soon xxx

The hotel is in a perfect location. The architecture is nice and conspicuous as opposed the floors which need a renovation. The hotel staff are kind. You miss the absence of a fridge and,a kettle in your room. . The breakfast is meager. WIFI is good but it's annoying that you have to sign in frequently.
