The hotel is perfectly situated at Promenade des Anglais, very close to Jardin Alber 1er - perfect starting point for sight-seeing and shopping in Nice. You can get here by bus in around 15 minutes straight from the airport and the bus stop is in front of the hotel. The see-view rooms is a must! The stuff is very friendly and helpful, professionally dealing with all our matters. The hotel is under "refreshment" at the moment. We got a room which was newly-redecorated and was more than satisfactory. We will choose this hotel again for sure.
My room was facing the sea on the fifth floor. It was so gorgeous, I couldn't get out of the room in the morning - just stood there, adoring the view. The room was spacious, bed was comfortable, there was plenty of space for everything, a huge mirror was on the wall in the room. Bathroom was nice and even the light was at my face and not from above! Staff were incredibly kind and friendly, the view out from the balcony was gorgeous. My only complaint is that there are not enough hangers in the wardrobe.
This hotel looks nothing like its pictures. Great location - totally shabby, nasty room. The rooms have brown shag carpet. Incredibly thin towels. It’s very tired and old. The front desk staff was nice.
With trepidation we arrived after terrible reviews on here... well we could not have been more pleased with our room! Exactly as pictured... maybe even better.. lovely modern clean bathroom, huge room with patio doors opening to uninterrupted sea views!! Tea coffee facilities, fridge, safe , wonderful helpful staff! Will definitely be coming back here! Really good value... 609 euro for 5 nights.. thank you le Royal for wonderful holiday!
Excellent location for food, amenities, transport, 'plane spotting' and people watching. In house bar totally missed a trick by being uninviting and therefore you went elsewhere. Be aware that smoking laws aren't enforced and the smoke from 'offenders' finds its way into your room....horrible if you are trying to take in the outstanding views
This is a beautiful old 'landmark' hotel, with excellent location facing the beach and not far from the centre of town. We had a great visit and were glad we stayed here. Despite many poor reviews our experience was completely positive. The state of the rooms may not be at the level it once was (but then it would be too expensive rather than the relatively good value that it is), but I believe the sea-side rooms may be renovated. Our city-side room was fine except for the old carpet. The service we experienced was perfectly friendly/helpful. And the breakfast couldn't have been better.
Le Royal's location is superb. However, the condition of carpeting and other items throughout the hotel are in dire need of being replaced. Arriving to a room with stained carpeting is an immediate "turn-off". The thing that kept us at Le Royal (we began looking for another hotel) was the incredible supportive and responsive staff. This helped us ignore to some degree the furnishing especially when we found our car had been broken into and luggage stolen. The police told us that car break-ins are a daily occurrence in NIce. DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR CAR AT ANYTIME FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME. Hotel front desk staff were very supportive during the ordeal of obtaining a police report.
Needs updating. Filthy carpet, tired old furniture, musty smell, basic breakfast. Would not recommend. On a positive note, the staff is very accommodating. If I ever return to Nice, I will look elsewhere for a hotel.
We book for 2 nights and change hotel after one night. Total rip off. When we told the desk that we are leaving, the staff is not even surprised. Our private tour guide also said that a lot of his customers said the same: they feel like being ripped off. The room is dirty, old, with possible bed bug. We check in Barriere majestic hotel the same day for the same price.
It's rare I feel so let down by a hotel that I have to write a critical review. But the tired state of the hotel, ageing rooms with stained carpets, cracked bathroom tiles and ancient furniture leaves me no choice. Unless you are a traveller on the tightest of budgets I do not recommend this hotel...
