We spend four enjoyable nights in Nice at the hotel helvetique! Staff was exceptionally friendly, the room was quiet and nice and the hotel is located very well. Towels for the beach can be borrowed for free. They also offer good breakfast- book it in advance via their website, thats much cheaper! We can definitely recommend the hotel and would stay there again!!
I was travelling alone on a one-and-a-half-daytrip to Nice. I got unlucky with the SN Brussels flight that managed to lose my carry-on bag. This meant I had to find essentials quickly: phone charger, underwear, hygiene. Staff at the hotel were very friendly, showed me the way to the specialised shops, and offered to use their computer and the printer in case I needed to print my return ticket or boarding pass. Very thoughtful.
The hotel has a non-austentatious external appearance which does not do the hotel justice. We visited out of season for just two nights and we really enjoyed the stay. The rooms are very nice, well equipped and very clean. Air conditioning is good, the beds are comfortable, and the reception staff were very helpful. Underground secure parking is available at an additional cost close to the hotel, but the one-way road system needs to be negotiated to get there, for which reception provide a special little map. We will definately use this hotel again for future visits. It is in the centre of Nice and staying here needs no car in order to enjoy the city. Highly recommended, and much better than its budget price would suggest.
Excellent central location in a quiet street 200m from a tram stop. 10 minute walk to railway station for trains to Cannes and Monaco and a 5 minute walk to the seafront and old town for eating not that you need to go that far.
Spend four nights here. Spacious, quiet room on 4th floor. Very comfy bed. Only minor complaint would be that the shower was small. The Hotel Helvétique is ideally situated to access all the local attractions. Equidistant from Promenade des Anglais, the station, the Cours Saleya and the old town. Staff on duty were very friendly. I would think about staying here again if visiting Nice.
It's a 10 minutes walk from city center Masena. Shops, restaurants and beach are all nearby, really great location! Safe, massage place next door has great pricing, room service everyday, wifi is good for 2 connected devices, if you use more than 2 it'll get slower. Rooms clean, comfy bed, equipped with fridge, quiet AC. Only issue is the water pressure in the shower, it'll either be very hot or cold :) it'll take a while to have it in mid temperature. I'll come back again when visiting Nice.
Comfort in the center of Nice. Close to most of the tourist attractions- historical places, Opera theatre, promenade, beach, shopping area, food resources:)). Did not need ground transportation - all places of interest were visited on foot ( a pie).
I spent two weeks in this hotel, this summer. And considering the price of EUR 130 per night, it was a big disappointment. Pros and Cons: + very good location: Beach and old town are 3-5 minutes away by feed, Avenue Jean-Medecin 1-2 minutes and the train station about 15 minutes (but tram station to the train station is just at the Avenue Jean-Medecin). Still, it's in a side street and therefore not + friendly staff, though most of them weren't very helpful (see cons) + 24/7 reception + good air conditioning - At first glance, the room looks modern and clean. But after spending a night there, I realized that this is not the fact. E.g. There were hairs sticking on the walls in the bathroom (from day one to day 15), there is no space in the shower to place the soap, every time I wanted to move a cloth hanger the whole cloth rail was falling down until I but a cap of the shower gel between the wall and the cloth rail ... - My sheets haven't been changed even once (which I know for sure, I caused a blood spot on the sheet on my second day due to a mosquito bite and it was still visible when I left the hotel) - The pillows for on the bed were very hard. But at least, they provided me a softer one after I requested it. - Although I booked a double room and paid the exactly same amount as a couple has to pay, I didn't get the same service. E.g. I had to explain them 4 times (!) that in a double room there should be two towels and not just one. - As mentioned above, the staff was very friendly but beside one guy not really helpful and had rather a "Savoir Vivre" mentality. E.g. on my last day last day, I was asking the guy at the reception, how to go to the airport. He told me that there is a bus line. He showed me the location on the map and told me that they are leaving every full and every half hour from this station. When I left towards the airport I found out that neither the time nor the location was correct, which resulted in me almost missing my flight. Thank god the flight was delayed. - The bathroom has no window and the ventilation is very poor. So, no surprise that there is a lot of mildew in there. - The toilet in the room is separated from the bathroom. It is very narrow in there and in my eyes it's kind of annoying, if you have to walk through the whole room to go to the bad and wash your hands after being on the toilet. So to summarize it: The location is the best argument for the hotel. But in my eyes, this cannot compensate the mildew and dirtiness in general as well as the high price. ... Especially not if you want to stay longer than just one or two nights.
We very much enjoyed our 6 night stay this August in the friendly Hotel Helvetique where we have stayed a number of times before. Our 4th floor room was spacious with ample furniture & storage space. The location is good for the local attractions in Nice. It's an easy walk to beach, buses, tram & shopping etc.
Clean hotel located in the center of Nice two streets from Place de Massena and several other sights, restaurants, street shops, shopping malls and public transport. If you are traveling by car, parking is a problem, there is a car park away from the hotel and during the winter the problem worsens. The hotel has a friendly and attentive staff the only negative point is the difficulty of getting indoors for the elderly.
