The property is very clean and organized and the manager is very helpful and professional. Only the room set up is a bit strange as the TV screen is put in a corner making it impossible to watch while being in bed. Apart from that everything else is very good

A nice quiet Room in a house that is 10 minutes walk to downtown Niagara on the lake. The host met us late as we were delayed getting in on the first night. Note that this property does not make breakfast, but provides coupons to use at local restaurants. These were very nice

The room was great except the shower is extremely small, so be aware if you are a bigger person. Otherwise, the property was nice with a lot of space to share. Garden was beautiful and the common space very nice. This is a little less than a mile from restaurants and town, but we like to walk. Also, breakfast is not on site, but you have two restaurant choices and host reimburses you. Please note that there is no one there all the time and you may need to wait for someone to let you in upon arrival and to give receipts to upon departure. They use a keypad system, so not the traditional B&B. Still very nice and good price.

Great Stay

Matisse is an excellent bed and breakfast. While BNB's lack some of the privacy of a hotel Matisse has done a great job to give guests the best experience. The off site breakfast options were very good and fit well in our schedule. The room and bathrooms were very clean and the yard was lovely to sit outside and have a glass of wine.

Bed and Breakfast but no breakfast on site, host covers breakfast off site We were a bit disappointed wanted the full Bed and Breakfast experience. Also the lower floor has a very musty smell the room was great but the bathroom was across the hall which was annoying

B without a B

I chose this place because there are not reasonable priced hotels close to the city. I don't like to drive at night after a show. I am not a B&B person I guess. Place was clean and had plenty of supplies. The owner doesn't live in the facility. The breakfast was offer in an adjacent restaurant or at the club house of the golf club a mile away.

John is friendly and informative. Room was very clean but small/cramped. The TV is located in the corner near the head of the bed and very inconvenient for watching. We were able to walk to the main business district, restaurant and theater. We were surprised to find out that breakfast was NOT ON SITE and we needed to go to one of two restaurants for our breakfast. The restaurants were good especially the one at the golf club, however, we were a disappointed that breakfast was not on site. That's part of being at a B&B. I see that other people have commented on this. Maybe the price should be reduced and advertised as "accommodations only".

A bed and breakfast without the breakfast…. We did get the cost of our breakfasts reimbursed, but it wasn’t the experience we hoped for. Needed to use our car to get into the town center. A reasonable spot to stay, but not “exceptional “

We had a wonderful stay at Matisse B&B. It was very quiet and relaxing. We had one breakfast at the local golf clubhouse where we dined while looking out over Lake Ontario. Another day we ate a delicious breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Breakfast was included in the cost of accommodation. We found the town to be very walkable. We enjoyed the Shaw Festival, Fort Henry, and winetasting at a local winery/vineyard. Matisse B&B was our "home away from home" ... a comfortable place to return to in the evening.

BED BUT NO BREAKFAST ON SITE. Pros: located near central Niagara-on-the-Lake. Comfortable bed with ample closet space. Clean. Front door required a code to enter. The owner/manager John was friendly and informative when he met us to allow us in. Cons: No breakfast is offerred on site which is weird for a B&B. You have to go to one of 2 nearby restaurants and John will deduct the cost from your final bill. Not convenient if you are expecting to eat on site. John does not stay in the house while guests are there overnight which we thought was uncomfortable. Room 1 has no ensuite bathroom. You have to go across the hallway to access your own private bathroom. I had asked prior to arriving whether each room had its own bathroom which we were told "yes". it never occurred to us that it would be located outside the room!
