The area serves as a great base for those wishing to explore the county with Kielder Forest Water Park only 18 miles away, an acclaimed International Dark Sky Park. Hadrian’s Wall is easily reached, and a trip to The Sill, a modern tourist attraction, is only 31 miles. Whilst out discovering Hadrian’s Wall country, drop into Hexham and stop off at the abbey with the old Saxon crypt, or visit the Tuesday market set out on The Shambles. The Heritage Coast in also within easy reach and makes a lovely day out. Stop off at Alnwick Castle, 31 miles, then spend the day on the sandy beach at Bamburgh.
