Everything was excellent until the boil water advisory was issued. We were instructed to use bottled or boiled water even for brushing our teeth, while being told it was still safe to shower. Given the drop in water pressure and the associated safety concerns, this significantly impacted our comfort and overall experience. The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff were warm, professional, and accommodating throughout our stay. Under normal circumstances, I would have gladly given a 5-star review. However, considering the situation, I do feel the price paid through Expedia did not reflect the conditions we experienced. I hope Expedia will consider providing a credit or adjustment in light of the inconvenience and health concerns.

The staff was excellent, world class, every single one of them, right down to the janitors and porters. Everyone was attentive and caring and deserves great praise. Whoever manages the staff of this hotel should be promoted to corporate management. Add a star if you’re not particularly budget conscious. Alas, the hotel itself is overpriced for what it offers, even by today’s pricey standards, and then comes the wave of junk fees that provide very little value. The facility itself is nothing special by luxury standards, and hot water was sporadic. It is not particularly well located compared with rival luxury hotels in town. So the concept of a hefty daily “destination fee” is misguided, unless your destination is the massive public parking field or the shopping mall. This fee either needs to be rethought and enhanced to provide more worthwhile value or otherwise withdrawn. For instance the food credit it provides doesn’t cover the bare basics of the wildly overpriced breakfast menu, especially since a service charge is automatically added, so in effect you’re paying a service charge twice, and then a tip is requested on top. This sends the wrong message, it makes the hotel benefits unnecessarily seem like flimflamming, putting the staff at a disadvantage as they do their very best to make the stay enjoyable. Very much to their credit, they always succeed.
