Very nice place. We had a 2 bedroom unit, so no problem with noise from upstairs. The area is a little thin on entertainment when the Schlitterbahn water park is not open. Gruene Hall, Grist Mill, Fork and Spoon, Alpine House, wineries, Luckenbach, Salt Lick BBQ, the Alamo, and Coyote Ugly Saloon all worth the trip. There's also Seaworld and the San Antonio Riverwalk. Many of these are a bit of a drive.
This resort was a perfect location for us because we were visiting both Austin and San Antonio. We were busy during the day, so didn't spend a ton of time at the resort. It had everything we needed and was spacious. it's not a large, fancy resort, but had everything we needed on our stay and plenty of pace. It was clean. There is a railroad track that is not far from the units and you do hear it when it goes by, sometimes during the night also.
We checked in Saturday, and we will we checking out Friday (a day early) due to commitments at home this weekend. The unit we are staying in is one of the nicer units we have occupied in over 50 trades through RCI. The unit is immaculate, the paint is fresh, everything in the unit looks to be brand new. The décor is VERY TEXAS which we love. The people here are all very nice, including the salesman, who make no mistake is a SALESMAN, not an educational representative for RCI as we were told. More about that in a minute. The ceilings in the living room are at least 20 feet high making this unit look much larger than it really is. The feeling of size makes it very comfortable. We have neighbors and you can’t hear them at all, probably because the design of this unit has the kitchen, bath, and the laundry on the common wall. Someone said the train was bad. I have not heard a train all week. The resort activities do not exist…. There are no resort activities! There is a charge for WI-FI at this resort, and the charge goes by every two devices, That means a family coming in will pay over $10/night for 3-4 devices. Make certain you ask about the week price as it is much lower. I believe is was $15 for 10 days for 2 devices, but they do not tell you that right up front. You must ask about the weekly price. I was told that it is free for Wyndham owners but RCI and everyone else pays. That is because those that pay the Wyndham annual fee pay it in their dues even if they do not use it. Strange thing is that in the sales presentation I was told that I pay Wyndham dues not because they own RCI. As for the SALES PRESENTATION. We came here on an RCI TRADE. We were told when we checked in that we would get a week at any WORLDMARK or WYNDHAM property if we went to an EDUCATIONAL MEETING to learn about the changes that Wyndham has made since they bought RCI. WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY DO NOT MAKE SALES AT THIS LOCATION AND THAT IT WAS STRICTLY EDUCATIONAL. We said we did not want to attend a sales presentation at which time we were told that this is a smaller satellite resort and that there were no sales presentations made here, it was strictly informational. We have owned timeshare since 1984 so we knew this was not true. They called us Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, each time saying there is NO SALES PRESENTATION. BEWARE, THERE IS A HARDCORE SALES PRESENTATION. So here is the rest of the story. The truth is the 60-minute SALES PRESENZTATION on VALENTINE’S DAY went over 90 minutes. We made it clear within the first 5 minutes that we were not there to BUY anything and even told them what we were told STRICTLY EDUCATIONAL AND THAT NO SALES PRESENTATION WOULD BE MADE. I would not return to this resort again simply due to the fact we feel this was an out and out lie. The two gentlemen in the SALES PRESENTATION were VERY NICE. I think in both cases I would love to be friends with them. They were both DOING THEIR SALES JOBS. If you go to WorldMark New Braunfels you will have super nice accommodations a block from a very nice little historical district. Be aware that they will do anything to get you into a SALES PRESENTATION. They will call you every day until you say yes. UPDATE: When we left there was NO CERTIFICATE IN HAND from WORLDMARK and they said they would be email that certificate. The “Front End Manager” said he would call us today to let us know when the certificate would arrive. He also felt bad about the manner which the presentation was offered to us and he offered us a bottle of wine. We are not wine drinkers so we declined, but I thought it was a very nice offer.
Clean Spacious rooms, wonderful privacy, incredible staff. Deer herd on property .Close to Gruene. Comforable Bed. large kitchen washer and dryer in room In room WIFI Place was like a home away form home
We were here a week as part of an RCI timeshare exchange. GOOD STUFF: Unit was VERY large (we got #1023). King bed downstairs w/ full attached bathroom. Living room/dining room combo, large kitchen with tons of storage and a washer/dryer in the unit. 2nd smaller bathroom downstairs. Upstairs units had either 1 queen (ours) or 2 twin beds with another full bathroom and a small living room set up. Kitchen was well stocked, including small packets of spices, coffee and soap. They provided extras if you asked at the desk. Everything was very clean. Air conditioner stopped working one day, maint. arrived to fix it within 20 min of calling. Pool (heated) was very nice and we used the onsite grills for 2 meals. The Worldmark is located VERY close to historic Gruene and we went to Gruene Hall to listen to free music twice. Enjoyed wandering in/out of all of the little shops in the old downtown. Ate at the Gristmill - very good food and unique/neat atmosphere in the old building. We were about halfway between Austin and San Antonio (45 min each way depending on traffic), so did day trips to each. NOT SO GOOD STUFF: the washer/dryer was very old and the dryer took forever to dry clothes. Needs to be replaced. The dishwasher soap dispenser would not 'pop' open at the right time so there was always soap left in the dispenser. You may want to buy your own toliet paper as the stuff in the bathrooms was VERY thin/harsh. Train - this isn't the resorts fault, but none of us got a good night's sleep the entire time we were there. The train ran several times a day and at night we were woken by the horn at least 2-3 times a night. We loved the location and would stay again, but would have to bring ear plugs or a loud white noise machine.
Wonderful place to stay. Two bedroom, two bath unit. Very Texas cowboy decor. Lots of wood. Located within walking distance to New Braunfels. A number of restaurants , shops and things to do. Gruene Hall is lots of fun. WiFi, pool, hot tub and our unit had full kitchen plus washer and dryer.
The accommodations were excellent but don't do the sales pitch unless you know how to say NO! Loved the location, within walking distance to river floating and Gruene Hall. Restaurants were close and many more within a short drive. The rooms are quiet and large. We had a great time and would go there any time there is an opening.
I'd never stayed at a Worldmark, so this was my first experience. When we walked in the place blew our minds. Full kitchen, upstairs and downstairs living, full working laundry, the works! The pool and hot tub area were excellent as well, and the property has at least two sets of gas grills for those so inclined. We chose to grill out on our last night there and it worked out great. We ate by the pool and enjoyed a swim before the pool closed down. One thing that really stood out was that the staff was on every aspect of their jobs. The trash was taken out regularly, the grounds were in wonderful shape, and the pool cleaners were dealing with the pool and hot tub at one minute after closing time, which was 10pm. Never seen that in my life! The property is in walking distance to several tubing operators right on the Guadalupe river, and historic Gruene is less than half a mile away offering wine tasting, wonderful food, and the best live music in Texas. If you're interested in getting away from it all and still enjoying some great Texas, this is the perfect place!
Just stayed for the weekend at the Worldmark for my husband's 50th bday. New Braunfels is the perfect meeting location in central Texas for groups to meet. We chose the Worldmark for its proximity to the river and tube rentals as well as the historic Gruene district. Plus, with 2 bedroom units available we were able to all be together. The hotel staff were very helpful & friendly at check in, even had a guest concierge help recommend fun things to do & see in Gruene and the surrounding area. The condos are AMAZING! Clean, comfortable with a full kitchen, complete with glassware, plates, cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc. Each room had a bathroom and there was also a 1/2 bath downstairs for guests. The hotel has gas grills around the property, so we decided to cook out one night and thoroughly enjoyed it - it was nice to visit with other guests staying there. The only downside - wifi is not free. It was $16 for up to 2 devices for 10 days. But, it was easy to sign up and log on. We floated the river and got our tubes at the Gruene River Company, literally next door to the hotel. Met for happy hour at Gruene Hall, ate at a restaurant right on the river, and had the perfect weekend. We even had time to jump into the pool at the hotel, and while it's small, it was quiet, cool & comfortable. Wish we could've stayed longer - hopefully next time!
