This hotel was a five star hotel, one day. Not anymore. It lost a few stars. We had booked a standard room, how bad can that be at a five star hotel? It was very bad. The view is terrible, into a courtyard with dead plants, a rock wall and some iron debree. Stains on the wall. Strange toilet (the flushing system was an afterthought). We upgraded to a front room. Gorgious view, bathroom with scratched bath and to take a shower you had to squeeze yourself into the bathtub behind the half glass seperation. The only thing that is really beautiful is the view from te restaurant. The breakfast was ok. The lift small, 2 people and luggage max. The (valet) parking was next to the hotel entrance, into the rock. The hotel is located on a very busy road. No shops, no restaurants near by. The staff in the lobby was friendly, at the restaurant they seemed very stressed out. During breakfast people were smoking at the terrace/balcony
Great place to stay . Old fashion The way we dream , The terrasse overlooking Napoli bay is fantastic, great way to start a day ! Easy to get in the center by subway or funicularium .the staff was very nice and efficient.
Just checked out from this hotel and the only reason I would give it a 2 points is for the view on the 6th floor. The welcoming was not the greatest as the parking is just below Bangladesh standards. The reception was somewhat helpful and the service at breakfast was overwhelmingly poor. The rooms are small and offer services from decades ago. Not a luxury brand in any case it has a pretty good location.
I can't say enough how amazing this hotel was. The building is absolutely beautiful and so well-maintained. My room was incredible with views right out onto the Bay of Napoli. Everyone who works there is so friendly and helpful and helped me plan a day trip to the Amalfi coast. The breakfast was great & you can eat in the sun on the terrace overlooking the bay. I would absolutely stay here again!
I have just returned from this glorious hotel after a 3 night stay and what a delight it was to stay somewhere that understands the word 'service'. The staff, and especially the reception staff, were excellent and the general manager should be very proud to have them work in his hotel. What a pleasure it was to be somewhere that was not a ghastly characterless and plastic chain hotel which are the same wherever you are in the world. Beautiful antique furniture, lovely paintings and some amusing modern art, proper pillows and the most fabulous view overlooking the bay. It is true to say that the hotel is not exactly in the hubbub of the centre but it is worth making that little extra effort to be able to return, put your feet up and sit on the 6th floor terrace with a spectacular view overlooking the bay and glass of wine. OK, it may be a little beaten up around the edges, not have the latest whatevers, lifts that don't go at breakneck speed but who cares! Breakfast also very good, (again on the 6th floor) with fresh, local produce and a good variety. If you want a bland, faceless hotel with faceless staff, anodyne furniture, don';t stay here and allow the rest of us to appreciate this grand elegant old lady.
I recently had the pleasure of staying in this hotel for a business conference. The staff were friendly and helpful, only too happy to provide anything that we needed from recommendations to meeting rooms. The hotel itself has the most amazing views of the bay of Naples and the vista from the restaurant on the top floor is just jaw dropping. The food at the hotel was really excellent and the concierge and front of house staff were extremely helpful. The hotel really went above and beyond for our group and we appreciate the effort which Adela, Marco and the whole team put in to ensure our stay was really enjoyable and productive. Some of our group stayed in the newly renovated rooms and they really are splendid. It was a classicly beautiful hotel with a friendliness that really means the atmosphere is special. Not appreciated balcony view...,.moldy stairs Room smelled of construction dust Can hear people next door snoring and worse!! Would not stay here again Too bad hotel was nearly empty and when we saw the view of the moldy stairs We asked for upgrade and the staff said we cannot as the room we booked was prepaid ! LOL. A bit of poor customer service. Not a 4 star. Not a five star. Only view we had was up o. The top floor in restaurant
I m writing this review from my only and last night here. This place is a disgrace to slh and all 5 star hotels. Every request was being being dealt as a problem. Salvatore Liguori, if this is the real name he gave me. He was a disgrace. No iPhone chargers, no room service. I was told by him he wanted to be left alone. Appalling. Gennaro the night waiter he was the only one that made an effort to try and fix Salvatore's mistakes. Room is rundown and not worth it. Stay at the Romeo. This place is awful.
Maybe a 3-star hotel at best. Furniture is old and badly maintained. Bed mattress and pillows had zero comfort. Even though we didn't use the TV it was old and tiny which is rare for a supposed 5-star hotel. The bathroom was dark and old. Had dinner one night at the restaurant and the food was subpar for the price. Breakfast was below average. The entire time I felt like I was in an old 3-star hotel in China the entire time which is extremely disappointing. The only redeeming aspects of it were the service, the hallways to the rooms which were gorgeous, and the view was simply amazing. Other than that we were extremely disappointed with the hotel. Would not recommend unless they go through major renovations.
This is a quite traditional, but quirky, sole-owner hotel which has a lot going for it -- fabulous views of the Bay of Naples, Capri and Vesuvius, very friendly staff and good breakfasts. The decor and bathrooms could do with a little modernising, although the superior rooms are quite large and well equipped. It is a little out-of-the-way for people who want to be very near the centre -- about a 25-minute walk to the Teatro San Carlo and the Palazzo Reale, further from the Centro Storico -- but as a result it is pretty quiet and one advantage is that you are half-way up the hill to the beautiful and unmissable Certosa di San Martino. The restaurant-bar (which is also the breakfast room) on the top floor is airy, large and extremely pleasant, with a large terrace where you can sit out in the summer and enjoy the panoramic view... and the restaurant food is excellent, if a little pricey. A good choice, if not the best in the city.
