all the tourist attractions are almost closer to this hotel..Location was great as expected from the luxury hotel,, Staff was Polite enough,, Room was amazing and everything else was perfect as I expected
Grand Hyatt in Muscat, Oman has a rather good location at seaside, halfway between the airport and the harbour. The entrance is overwhelming. we had a very spacious Grand Suite, which needs some modern update. No possibility to turn the light on/off from the bed, even no pedestal cupboard. Nice swimming pool and good restaurants.
I have to admit I had reservations about this hotel but they proved completely unfounded. We spent Christmas 2017 at this hotel. It is a classic 5 star hotel. Check in was quick, friendly and welcoming. Room - very spacious, with balcony facing the sea. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean and was well serviced. We loved this room, so the room number is a secret between me and the hotel. The service throughout was exemplary, The breakfast and dinner buffet has a large choice of hot and cold food all well cooked. The Christmas Day brunch was excellent except for the vegetables which were undercooked but that did not deter from the quality of the rest of the massive spread of food. We particularly like the Marjan restaurant and had our main meal there most days and a lighter meal in the evening We are certainly considering a return visit next Christmas. Highly recommended. This hotel wraps itself around you making one feel totally relaxed.
just what one expects from a well run 5 star hotel, seamless service , lovely accommodation, and the location was perfect for travelling around to see the local attractions. I also liked being able to look out of our balcony over the beach and see local people enjoying the beach and activities. and not shut away on a private beach far from the action.
This is ideal for a couple stay, older retired couple stay, or family stay if you don't want to drag your kids around the major city areas. Before you go: Muscat is not a lively place. It's a quiet city. The sites of interest are spread out and given that it's a conservative city, where people are not out partying all the time and loud clothing and risky behaviour is not the norm, this is the kind of hotel where you would want to station yourself for a pool, beach, food, tours trip. What I like about this hotel: Great bed. Balcony views of sunset beaches and pool. Quiet and extremely generous staff. The Arabic flair of the hotel lobby is worth a visit, to see the men wearing dishdasha and sipping tea, even if you don't stay here. In the evenings, men play football on the beach, and after the sun goes down, families come out and barbecue on the beach. One thing you realise about Oman is that it's an outdoorsy kind of place. Almost every restaurant we went to was empty of locals, and all the beaches and parks were filled with locals eating food. Not sure if this was an end of the year thing, or a winter thing, or a normal, we do this all the time thing. Grand Hyatt has great staff. All speak excellent english, are courteous and clean. Food is a little pricey but there is nothing in Oman that is not expensive. Bring extra cash for anything. You will need it. Pool could be cleaner at times. Ocean is sparkling clean. The water amusement rides like the jet skis and the banana boat could be better. They don't allow you to go fast because past guests have apparently complained. One great feature of the hotel is that guests get to use their excellent gym and sauna for free as many times as they like. I used it almost every day. We stayed here for our honeymoon. It was worth it.
The hotel is in a Good location, close to most attraction. The hotel is big and the facilities are excellent. Good restaurants, fantastic breakfast, good pool and fitness club The room was large and comfortable the interior of the room looks a bit outdated, the staff are very friendly.
Visited 24-30 Dec for Christmas break with husband & son. I had chosen a grand family suite which was ample in size, although 12 hangers for three people is insufficient. Firstly food at this hotel was great, especially at the poolside restaurant and we found the staff attentive and friendly. Club lounge was superb with happy hour between 6-8 with plenty of free flowing alcohol and superb food choices. Easily could’ve eaten here each night with no need to visit any restaurants. Downsides - the hotel has few sunbeds with all day sun and subsequently these were reserved very early , what was particularly infuriating was 20 of these beds being reserved for a Dutch family by the pool attendant ( no doubt for a monetary incentive) and then beds being unattended until 11.30am. Another Brit family of 9 would reserve and then go off sightseeing until early afternoon & then sit at the pool bar - for a five star hotel this is unacceptable. The suite was disappointing and as others have said it is definitely time for an overhaul. Little things such as no handle on desk drawer, just a screw sticking straight out. Clothes line and beauty mirror both coming away from wall and just tired & worn. Also lighting was an issue for us as lots of lamps and no main light & therefore not very bright in the room, when we mentioned it at check out they said they would put an extra lamp in if we ever came back - ????? Suite was kept very clean and housekeeping even rang to ask if they could come & clean after my son had accidentally left do not disturb light on and they did a great job. Excellent value for money and in a great central location. We would go back if price was right as staff were great , especially in club lounge
There seems to be a disconnect with the hotel interior and the room interior. The club room we stayed in was quite contrasting as it was very plain and dint feel like we were in a 5 star hotel. The other facilities though were first class.
Our room stunk with cigarette smells and had old and worn out furniture like the rest of the hotel. The best days of this hotel were in the eighties. Will not come again or recommend it. Go to Check hotel for a true five star hotel experience
I had so much fun during my stay in Muscat at the Grand Hyatt. The staff is truly amazing even if your hostess is rude and insulting the staff at the Grand Hyatt Muscat is equipped to deal with it, more equipped than I was! The food and the atmosphere is wonderful and I love the many options they offer. I highly recommend them to anyone visiting Muscat.
