Oman has so many wonderful hotels but Al Bustan Palace is a very special place. beautiful landscapes around and wonderful stuff. there are several restaurants to eat and the rooms with sea view the best. i had a excellent time there.
In summary: friendly service, nice grounds surrounding the hotel and the quality of the food was good, not exceptional. The hotel is quite impressive, as the name would suggest, a real palace. Due to the kids we got a very nice upgrade for a room with direct access to the pool, which we enjoyed so much! The rooms are outdated, but I am sure that after the refurbishment they will look amazing. After coming from the Shangri-La, our kids were a bit disappointed with the main swimming pool, but the views to sea were very beautiful and the chairs around the pool are setup nicely. The hotel is more suitable for adults or families with older children, but perhaps I had that feeling because that were almost no kids at the time. I'm quite picky about the food. For me the quality of the food varied by type of dish. Breakfast was good (we especially liked the selection of tropical fruit which included rambutan and mangosteen), with enough choice and good service. We also booked for the Friday brunch and enjoyed sitting outside having our drinks and food. In terms of quality I had tasted better at brunches, but it was a very nice experience anyway. Also, we talked to some of the staff and had the feeling they were quite content working in the hotel. We would love to see the hotel in the 'new style' in a future visit to Muscat! Who knows...
Did not disappoint. The Ritz Al Bustan offers a beautiful escape with well landscaped grounds, spacious rooms with a sea view and stunning seafood at the Beach Pavilion Bar & Grill. It was lovely to relax on the hammocks provided in the garden. Definitely recommend.
We stayed at the Al Bustan Palace for 5 nights and throughly enjoyed our experience. We had a lagoon room which was lovely - traditional decor and direct access into the swimming pool from our balcony. The grounds were very well kept and staff were friendly and attentive. I was unwell at the end of our stay and staff could not have been more helpful - they arrived with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers for me and provided free room service food and drinks for my husband. We will definitely return if we are in Oman again and can't wait to see the hotel following the upcoming renovation.
My friend and I wanted to stay somewhere quiet, I had stayed there many years ago , we had a twin room , large over looking the gardens and you could see the sea.a small balcony with table and 2chairs , the staff refilled the fridge every day, soft drinks are free, but also had small wine and beer, you had to pay for ,there is a beautiful infinity pool and we spent a lot of time in there, nice walks along the beach, but we only went in the sea a few times . A free shuttle to the souk every day, we went half board and the food was a great choice , also in the reception area is a area you can sit and have arabic coffee, I used to live in Muscat and I would go to the AlBustan every Friday for afternoon tea, sadly they don't do this any more as it used to be really lovely, going back now to our holiday,,,,lol I was upset that the coffee man was away the week we were there but a lovely man in reception went and got me a cup of Arabic coffee, so delish, I love the al bustan and always will,
We know this hotel well as we once lived in Oman and visited several times. The ambience is still tranquil, cool and elegant. Service always courteous. A little pricey for a simple cream cake and coffee afternoon tea, but worth it for the experience.
I loved the bustan - a beautiful, luxurious elegant setting. Friendly staff, prestine grounds, gorgeous views and the most beautiful tea garden I've ever seen. It's perfect for a romantic getaway or a refreshing change of scenery
The grounds and the staff are this hotel's saving grace! Outside of the lobby, the interior clearly needs a great deal of work and the current renovation is WAY over due. As a result, the hallways and rooms feel dated and grimy - unless you pine for the 1980s. Further, I never understand why, as a western hotel chain, the Ritz only provides two double beds in the Middle East -- there should be two queen beds in a two bed room. At the beach area, there needs to be more staff making rounds so that guests don't have to repeatedly walk to the cabana to place an order. This seems so trivial, but the guest is on vacation! The room service menu has very few boring options which get very old after a weeklong stay -- the menu should be changed to reflect the caliber and quality of a Ritz. The other restaurants on the property were generally average and, as it was very busy when we stayed, it's clear the hotel could use an extra restaurant. As a family with small children, we always make it a priority to travel to hotels which advertise a Kids Club -- this hotels version leaves much to be desired. While the attendant is lovely, the lobby of the tennis center does not constitute a Kids Club. Ritz would be wise to study Four Seasons and St. Regis on this topic -- the children are your guests too! Finally, we did not experience the kind of personalized, five star treatment one would expect from a Ritz. Staff at a hotel of this stature should anticipate guests needs and even provide some "extras" to make the guest feel truly valued. This was lacking and only added to overall disappointment.
To make it clear, this is a great hotel. But for this price and at this level, you would expect everything to be impeccable. And it wasn't. First the positives: + beautiful property with a stunning lobby, great and comfortable room + great pool and beach area. Plenty of places to relax without being disturbed Now the negative experiences: - As my wife was pregnant at the time, we booked an airport transfer from the hotel, to avoid the hassle of looking for a taxi. It was advertised by the hotel as being realized by a luxurious BMW 7 series (the price was accordingly high due to the standard of the car). However we were picked up by a shabby van - the driver explained to us that he was expecting more guests to arrive. We mentioned this issue at the reception, but were not offered any compensation whatsoever - just a dry apology and were charged like for the BMW. - Upon entering the room for the first time we found open and partially drank bottles of water in the mini bar - this is not acceptable in the hotel of this standard. - we found bugs in the salad served in the breakfast buffet. We didn't want to make a big scene out of it, so we politely pointed this out to one of the staff. She took the salad away and came back a while later trying to convince us that there are in fact no insects in the salad! Only after pointing it out to her for the second time she realized it and the manager came to apologize. Overall the hotel itself is stunning, but we were unfortunately disappointed with the issues we had, and especially with the way they were handled.
The Al Bustan Palace is a beautiful hotel with wonderful customer service. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet they offered every morning before spending a relaxing day on their beautiful grounds by the beach. Someone was there everyday to set up the towels on our chairs along with a cooler of water. The hotel is undergoing quite a bit of renovation, but it was still easy to get around and there was plenty of pool space despite one pool being closed. We found it easy to get a car into town and enjoyed going into town for a few meals. We also enjoyed a few day excursions the hotel helped us arrange. It was a fun and relaxing trip!
