"Great location, perfect as the Shuttle bus from SFO airport stops opposite. Within walking distance to all downtown shops and restaurants, fishermans wharf, all minutes away. I didn't like that I could hear the guests in the room above walking about throughout the night. The intricately carved wooden headboard looked great but I am a clean freak and there was quite bit of dust and hairs in all the crevices which was off puting. I cant imagine that housekeeping checks this after every guest. The water temperature in the shower fluctuates depending on usage from other hotel guests and the bathroom is quite dated. Overall I would still stay here again. Its a gorgeous building with great architectural features. Water coolers conveniently located on all floors. Pastries would have been nice in the morning with the complimentary coffee but there are some great breakfast options downtown so it wasnt a big deal. Reasonably priced. Staff helpful and friendly and great communication from the concierge via email. Thank you. I visited here from the UK."

"The hotel is lovely, steps from the barnyard shopping area in carmel valley and an eady drive to downtown carmel. It's also within an hours drive to big sur."

"The adjoining room door was next to the bed. Very poor sound proofing. The next room’s conversations at normal tones sounded like they were in our room. They talked until 2:45AM. The hotel clerk did make note of it the next morning when I reported it. Hopefully they will fix the problem."
