Mercure Hotel Trier Porta Nigra

I stayed one night on a Wednesday in August in Privilege room at 125 euros / night. This was great value. The room overlooked the Porta Nigra. Fabulous view. Bit of traffic noise in room 414 but ok if the window was shut. There is air conditioning. The room was large, comfortable and extremely well equipped with a top of the range coffee machine, water, free wifi, VIP bath amenities, slippers and a bath robe. The bed was extremely comfortable. Brilliant. The hotel is smart, clean with good sized public areas. The staff are very friendly and speak excellent English. If arriving by car drive straight into the car park behind the hotel, taking an entry ticket. When you check in the receptionist will substitute the ticket for the hotel's own. Breakfast choices were extensive. All in all I would say this was a 4 star hotel on top of its' game. Would I stay there again if visiting Trier? Absolutely, nowhere else!

This hotel was PERFECT for our stay in Trier. It is conveniently located right across from the Porta Negra and right at the pedestrian zone. It's lovely and comfortable. Perfect location to go back to for a quick change of clothes or nap.

We stayed here while visiting Trier for the weekend. The hotel is conveniently located right across the Porta Nigra. As a matter of fact, the breakfast area/restaurant and some rooms feature views of it. Rooms were big enough, modern, and clean. The hotel bar was great value, as was the parking on the premises. Breakfast was about what I would expect from a 4-star continental breakfast, though the staff might have been a bit too eager to take away empty plates. Would definitely stay again when in the area.

We had a lovely privilege room overlooking Porta Nigra and a lovely touch was the gift of a Trier guidebook, and although we had brought our own guidebooks, this was the most compact and the best and probably the cheapest! We ate in the bistro and the restaurant, however the prices of the meals were the same and even for room service. Parking is behind the hotel and at a reasonable rate for inner city of 7 euros per day. All major tourist attractions are within easy walking distance.

I have stayed in accor group hotels previously and it's been a mixed bag...however this hotel is brilliant. Booked a room with a view of the porta nigra well worth the money. Easy parking, friendly, helpful check in. Great bar and terrace area in a fantastic location-easy walk to the river which has beautiful restaurants, well worth a visit.

This hotel is in the center of Trier. You can walk across the street through the arch of Porta Nigra to the main shopping area of Trier, which has good restaurants and shops. The reception staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was typically German (that is not a complaint), and the bedroom was quite sparse, but clean, with a duvet on each bed. The bathroom was modern and clean. We parked for a fee in the basement of the hotel, which was very convenient. Our room came with a breakfast buffet which was quite good and European in style.

We had a beautiful view of the Porta Nigra! If you want to see Roman Ruins, this is the place to go and the hotel at which to stay! We loved it! The hotel location was so convenient, and the staff was very pleasant.

I forgot a jacket at the nearby dry cleaner's and they picked it up and sent it to me, no problems. Very professional staff that speaks English well and was cordial and helpful throught my stay. Thanks!

Visited Trier on many occasions but first time in this hotel. Overall very good but despite having 2 superior rooms they were both ready for some general refurbishment. Staff were excellent and location perfect for both city and surrounding area exploring

The hotel itself is located ideally for touring the city centre, as it sits just across the street of Porta Nigra and the main pedestrian area of the town. We arrived early knowing that it was unlikely to check-in, but completed the in-processing before twelve and agreed to be back at three when the room supposedly is available. Surprise it was not. Good planning skills.
