Everything perfect, from our hotel room we enjoyed a view, straight into the Porta Nigra. Being both history fanatics, you can imagine how my grandson and myself enjoyed Trier. So much to see, to visit, simply perfect!!
The Location is very good and staff are all welcoming. We had to change rooms three times on the first night of our stay. The first room had a fridge that didn't work. The second room had faulty heating - the heating stayed on constantly, on full blast, and could not be switched off! The third room was finally ok - all this took a couple of hours of moving between rooms which was not ideal! Rooms do not have ceramic coffee cups - they have paper cups only. Ceramic cups can be requested from reception. The view from the rooms facing the Porta Nigra are very good. The breakfast was also very good quality with friendly staff - A nice variety of food and drink. It was very surprising to see that you need to pay 50 cents to use the toilet next to the bar. Quite surprising that the bar doesn't open until 3pm on a Sunday.
Perfectly located across from the Porta Nigra, it filled up with 5th floor window with a tremendous view. The room was not flashy but was perfect. A comfortable bed where I slept better than any other stay in Europe. The front desk staff was wonderful and very helpful in navigating me through the city. Highly recommended and way underpriced.
Upgraded to a room overlooking Porta Nigra - fabulous view. Lovely room with very nice coffee facilities. Breakfast very good, nice bar friendly service. Secure parking under the hotel very convenient.
Loved the location for visiting the Christmas Markets. Just a short stroll down the pedestrian streets to the central square and the Don. Great hotel. Great breakfast each morning with a wide selection. And friendly staff!
We were here with a coach company to visit the christmas markets and were very impressed by this hotel. The view of the roman gate from the dining room is brilliant. The bedrooms are very comfortable, warm and clean with windows that can actually be opened. I cant stand rooms where you cant get fresh air in. The hotel is staffed by young attentive workers and the food we had was always fresh hot and tasty if a little repetitive, but hey, thats catering for coach parties and was expected.
The Hotel is located opposite the Porta Nigra. A stunning view from our window everyday! Within easy walking distance all Trier has to offer be it Roman or otherwise. Car Parking is chargeable, it was 11 euros for 24 hrs when we stayed, the Car Park is adjacent to the rear of the Hotel and accessed either by the side of the hotel or down a side street. It is a public car park but on the lower floors there is a lift to the Hotel. The welcome at reception was very pleasant, checked in and in our rooms in under 10 mins. Our room was at the front so we did have the great view of the roman gate. It is a busy road outside but with the windows closed you didn't notice. The room itself was comfortable, TV,WiFi, tea/coffee making facilities (not sure about the paper cups though, would have preferred a china mug but that's being picky). Plenty of storage space. If anything for us the room could have been a bit cooler, it was very hot. There is perhaps a need for a refurb particularly in the bathrooms but that didn't detract from our stay. The room was clean. The bathroom had complimentary toiletries. We only ate breakfast at the hotel but this was excellent, a wide variety of choice, good value we thought. And the view from the restaurant is of the Gate, again a fantastic view. Every member of staff we encountered was pleasant, helpful and appeared to enjoy their job. Overall a very good hotel.
next to porta nigra and to the town center. modern hotel with clean rooms. very friendly staff. free wifi. good variety at breakfast. very delicious food at bistro bar with nice enviroment and very kind and helpful staff.
Hotel is very well located to visit the city. In front of Porta Nigra en few meters away of Karl Marx strasse. Hotel needs freshing up. Bar old fashioned but staff very friendly. Food very nice. Prices for wine a little bit to high.
Hotel location across road from Porta Nigra could not be bettered. Also within easy walking distance of most of the other Roman related attractions in Trier. Room was very comfortable and cleanliness standard excellent. I did not eat in the Hotel but the restaurant looked inviting. One of the better Mercure Hotels in Germany that I have stayed in.
