The room was a good size with king bed. Large closet. Bath tub kind of slippery. TV was not working. Quite place. Lots of dinning options in the area. 30 min from Old Montreal. Near Botanical gardens and Olympic Stadium. Pet friendly. Clean.

Pretty much the usual standard for a non-premium hotel. Nothing sticks out from it. There was a trace scent of weed from the area but nothing excessively pungent. It was fine.

Serious sanitation issues Newstar hotel Montreal

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel due to serious sanitation issues. On the first night, we discovered a bloodstain on the bedsheets. As our stay continued, we found clear signs of rodents (possibly rat) or some kind of animal activity in the kitchen drawers—our tea bags and instant coffee had been chewed through, which was absolutely disgusting. To her credit, the manager was very understanding and initially offered a full refund and a fix of the open hole in the wall. However, the following day she was unavailable, nothing has been fixed even the drawer were in the exact same state as the day before; we had to deal with a male receptionist—possibly named Adel—who was extremely rude and unprofessional. He wasted a lot of my time, deliberately avoid helping, and ignored several calls from Hotels.com customer service who were trying to confirm the refund. Eventually, I had a fight with him and was able to receive my money back, but overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t recommend staying here at all.

J’ai demandé une chambre avec un lit queen, j’ai eu un lit double. La chambre était en décrépitude, non rénovée, des odeurs de cigarettes partout dans les édifices des chambres. Sur la terrasse les gens fumaient non seulement malgré l’interdiction de fumer sur la terrasse.

Great place to stay. Good bang for your buck! We got the room with kitchenette and it has a microwave, stove, fridge and sink. I would’ve gave it a 5 star rating aside from we got charged more for the $40 per night pet fee as stated. Its more like $60 per night for a pet fee.

It wasn't clean, there were small flies everywhere. The jet tub wasn't clean. It smelled of stale cigarette smoke in the room. We didn't get a full bed sheet set. Those weren't super clean either. Outside in the parking lot there were a lot of loiterers and broken glass in the parking lot indicating break-ins. And to top it all off they couldn't figure out how to refund me the deposit, I used the same card and it just didn't want to go through. This place was a bad choice and definitely put a big damper on our trip.
