We were given an "upgraded newly refurbished " room. The one advertised with the "view" of the bay. Well... the internet didn't work, nor did the cable tv so we checked out after one night. The evening we stayed they had workers in the grounds trimming etc. well at 9:30 pm there was still a group outside our balcony (which over looked the drive way) blabbing it up and throwing trimmings into their old pick up truck! Finally I again called the front desk and the girl came and they finished up. There is no elevator but someone helped with our large bags. The sink stopper didn't work for my husband to trim his mustache. He had to crawl under the sink and manually work it.
Stayed one night whilst doing a road trip and this was our comfiest bed yet on our trip, it's the first morning I woke up with my alarm (after waking up early previous nights)! The room was a great size along with the bed and amenities - little coffee machine, fridge, even a microwave. Car park had spaces and we could leave the car until 4pm after checking out which suited us. About 10/15 minute walk to the pier area which was good, would definitely stay here again, perfect night.
We knew that this was a lower end property, thus our expectations were rather low. That said, the room was clean, the bed comfortable (not luxurious), bathroom nice and overall everything in good shape. There was an air conditioning unit in the closet (a little odd but...) that worked well, especially as background noise for sleeping & a wall heater to help warm up the room in the morning. Nice hair dryer/night light combo. Also had USB & normal 110-volt outlets next to bed. No breakfast or other luxuries but none expected for price point. Another odd thing was the wall-mounted soap/shampoo/conditioner dispensor in the shower & same for hand soap at sink. Negatives: There were mutliple cover plates missing (big safety issue!). The water in the shower took a while to get warm. AND the water was more warm than hot. If you want a truly hot shower, you will be very disappointed. Parking was a bit tight for our full size car. Other than this, everything else was acceptable for the price.
We stayed here beginning of April during our road trip, the inn was basic but great value, had everything we needed, the bed was comfy and the lady at check in was friendly. If we are ever in Monterey again we would stay again.
My husband and I stayed at the Inn by the Bay Monterey in March 2017 for a Spring Break trip. We thought this was a great, affordable place for our travel needs! We checked in a little early, but luckily our upstairs room was ready when we arrived. The room was clean, updated and had a nice (albeit distant) view of the bay. The room includes a microwave and refrigerator, so if you’re someone who likes to save some money by working on leftovers over your stay, you’re in good hands. The shower stall had good water pressure and has hand pumps for shampoo, condition and body soap. The area itself is pretty quiet, so we didn’t have any trouble with street noise or noisy neighbors. We had great luck with parking every day, usually because we were back at the motel by about 6 or 7 in the evening. It’s a smaller lot in front of the rooms, but there’s another lot that’s a bit off to the back, behind them, if there’s no parking up front. Still connected to the front-facing lot, just in the back. The greatest thing for us about this motel was the price and the location. Downtown Monterey is only about a 10-15 minute walk downhill, and is worth it, considering everywhere downtown charges you to park. Some cute spots to stop by on your walk down to the Wharf: Parker-Lusseau Pastries, Paris Bakery Café (both places are great breakfast spots), and Melville Tavern (good place for happy hour specials). I think the latest my husband and I walked back one night was around 8 or 9, and we stayed to the well-lit streets and felt pretty safe. Overall, we had a wonderful stay here and would highly recommend it!
Loved this Inn! Perfect area and safe. I was very comfortable and the room was nicely decorated. Walking distance to restaurants and bars. Would love to come back! During this visit I was with 3 adults and 2 children. I only stayed one night since we were passing by as we were traveling from San Francisco to LA.
Next month will by my 3rd time staying here. Because I come to Monterey to have sleep studies done, it is necessary for me to have a VERY comfortable bed where I can be fully rested. At Inn by the Bay I sleep in a good bed with good pillows, in rooms that are clean and well put together. And even though rooms are not far from the street, they are somehow quiet. The best, most considerate staff make me feel welcome and at home. Thank you to everyone at Inn by the Bay.
Stayed here on our way to San Francisco. convenient for both Fishermans wharf and Cannery Row the rooms are clean and tidy and well appointed ,the free wifi works well. we found an Indian restaurant within walking distance for an evening meal and drove over to Cannery Row for a breakfast coffee
The location is okay, not too far from the wharf (You will see most budget hotels on this street) There was coffee in the reception area. The fridge and microwave worked well. Room was neat and clean. There was ice vending machine. The heater in the room was very close to the bed. No breakfast option with the room, but plenty of places nearby to go grab a bite. We got a room on the ground floor, and it was a tight space. There was no table or any chairs (the front desk lady gave me a chair upon request). The toilet seat in the bathroom was in a tight space too
close to the shops and such a great trip to take and ENJOY! THEY ALWAYS have rooms available and the rooms are nice and clean. we like to stay here when we drive to Monterey. This is a getaway that everyone should take!
