The rooms are a nice size. We had four people and did not feel crowded. However, our reservations were for four people and both days we had to ask for an additional towel. The 2nd day we had kept our towels on the bar to be reused but the housekeeping staff replaced them with new and did not leave the same number that they took. It is a nice perk to be able to go to the office during regular hours and get a beverage and snack whenever you want. We did not like the shower head, as it is one of those low flow ones that probably kept you in there for much longer as it was hard to rinse off. This is our 2nd visit and will most likely stay here again.

Room had wood burning fireplace which was a super nice treat after a busy day. Great business trip lodging,

I booked a room with a patio and fireplace. When we got there our patio looked out on a parking lot and junk. We asked the man working at the front desk if he could move us (there were only 11 cars in the parking lot0 and he said 4 times no because we booked through a third party. I went in looking for the manager in the morning and the woman at the front desk wasn't the manager and was very sorry to hear we didn't like our view. She started to look at the computer but the minute I told her we had booked through Orbtiz she stopped and said there was nothing she could do because we booked through a third party. The manager left me a phone message letting me know it wasn't because we booked through a third party but because 25 mattresses were being delivered (wish she had put one of those in our room). Then she replied to my check in review stated the other rooms I could of had for the level I booked all faced the street (but I didn't see were they had a patio). All three told me I should have booked directly through them but I would not have known they were there without Orbitz.

it was a great hotel, clean, very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable and very attractive hotel especially the patio in the back.

The king size bed was comfortable Price affordable Free breakfast was decent

A fine place for an overnight. Clean, pretty comfortable, good for a motel type property.

Stayed only one night. Walking distance to Wharf. Breakfast/continental was basic. Overall was comfortable, Other nearby spots have better, serviced breakfast.

Had issue with bill and manager was rude and had 0 customer service went round and round with her till I demanded to see hotel policy stating purpose of extra charges then finally she decided to work with me

comfortable room, parked close, walking distance to downtown and restaurants. Fire dept. across street was unexpected.

Cute, comfortable room with fire place, microwave and refrigerator. Pillows were lumpy and the tv was stuck on one channel for our whole visit - the only downsides. Loved the location, snacks in the lobby, and free, accessible parking. Would visit again!

The lady behind at the desk was very rude. she was white with blonde hair, someone needs to train her on proper customer service.

Liked having the small patio as an option to get out of the room for some fresh air as well as the many benches around the property. The staff were very friendly. Loved having the hot beverages and snacks available any time the office was open! The Embassy Suites had been our go to place to stay for a number of years, but we have now found a new one.

Had a good stay, liked the fire place. Old town Monterey is nice to walk around.

Would come back. Breakfast a little weak, but I'm bat a breakfast person.

The Colton Inn is located just a short distance from all the downtown attractions in Monterey -- easy walking distance. But that helps it be a much better price than other places! The room was large and comfortable, with its own little balcony which would be nice in the summertime. Plenty of places to eat downtown.

Close to everything. Friendly and helpful staff. I was very pleased with my stay. Highly recommend staying here.

Room was clean, glad to have the wireless internet. Hair dryer didn't work to well and was about to fall off the wall. Couldn't find a heater in the room or a thermostat to turn on heater as it got cold in the early evening. Luckly we had a room with a fireplace that had a 3 hr duro log which helped warm the room some. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Good location proximity to many sites for shopping touring. Dining. Nice balcony .Room clean quiet. Adequate continental breakfast and afternoon coffee and cookies. Staff helpful and friendly. Return visits warranted.

The room was clean and the basics covered but the staff has no sense of customer service. I arrived early to check in (knowing that I was early but thought I'd see if my room was available) and was practically scolded for arriving at that time. Upon the day of my checkout, I had the 'Do Not Disturb' tag on my door, yet was approached by both a housekeeper and the front desk before check out time to see when I'd be leaving. I understand they might be under pressure from their bosses to turnaround the rooms quickly, but none of this should be put on the customer. If you just want a good place decently located to crash for the night, The Colton Inn is fine. But if you want to feel welcomed in Monterey, you might want to review other options.

Price for location is awesome, we have stayed there before. Disappointed with mattress and water not hot enough for a bath, no instuctions for use of whirlpool jets in tub, and no balcony.

Hi Mary, I have to respond here because you took a photo from a water spill that from from the city that spilled over to our property and we had to move things around for 2 days to dry ground. This is not a representation of how it normally looks and completely out of context. I understand you are upset and you have shown that in various ways. I have reached out and didn't hear back from you. It makes no difference where people make their reservation. We get requests for the room that you stayed in so it's not that it is a bad location. Everybody has different preferences. Specific preferences sometimes get lost thru third websites and then we assign what we have available. We can not move you to a room that someone else made a specific request for. Rooms that do not have an request are subject to reassignment but we make sure it will always be the room type you made the reservation for. I could have moved you to another room but it didn't have a balcony that you seem to prefer. Mary, I wasn't able to put you in one of the rooms that were being worked on. Because they were worked on. Thank you, again, for your feedback.
