We drive to Portugal and after finding this gem we would always stay here for our stopover. The hotel is friendly, clean and very quiet even though it's next to an industrial estate. The hotels food is always excellent and they can not do enough for you. I would always come back and always recommend . We always wish we could stay for longer. Best find we have found for our long trip
It is true that the place is cheap and clean. The downside is that it is not super located as close to the highway, lost in the commercial area. But because Salamanca is a nice urban city, it is easy to access center..
Good facilities in good location for overnight stop on way south from Santander. Excellent restaurant & breakfast both very good value & quality. Pity air conditioning was not switched on in May. Drivers need to be aware that the postcode doesn't take you to the correct place. We ended up at an army barracks!
This is a lovely clean modern hotel , convenient for the motorway and for getting into Salamanca. It is on a business park but has nice gardens at the back with outdoor seating off the restaurant . Breakfast was superb and only 6 Euros if booked on arrival . A lovely touch was chocolate covered strawberries on the bed on arrival. We would definitely stay again .
This hotel was recommended to us by friends who travel regularly from the UK to Portugal as being an easy and well-priced place to stay. It’s easy to spot as you are driving into the outskirts of the city, and there’s plenty of free parking. You can book a dinner, bed and breakfast rate which entitles you to the daily-changing dinner menu as well as the included breakfast. Dinner consisted of ‘first plate, second plate and dessert’ and we enjoyed leek soup (more of a velouté), lentil stew with pig snout and sausage (!), turkey slices and chicken thigh – both with a good mix of vegetables. The weak link was perhaps the ‘Venetian tiramisu’; I’m not sure the Venetians would have recognised it… but it was nice and light, as was the rest of the meal. And all for around 12 euros including wine or water. Service was extremely prompt and the waiters went flying around very fast. The breakfast choice includes plenty of fresh fruit, pastries, breads, yoghurts etc, and there was an omelette sitting in a pan. Fresh orange juice is available. The restaurant is stated as having great views of the city; this would be the case were it not that the leylandii hedge has grown so high! Our room, which was a larger one on the second floor with a view, was quite spacious and well equipped, though with the window closed at night it got very hot. There is a bus from fairly near the hotel into the city, which is very cheap and runs about every 20 minutes.
When the hotel accepts guests to organise a wedding party, while I have made reservations (yet in March!) for a room, I should be informed way upfront if noise could keep me from getting to sleep. Anyway I could have been informed even this second night... Our first night wasn't much better -some invasion or evacuation!- and I had asked the receptionist for an explanation. The man was very professional and polite. He apologized for what happened and I could live with it... On the other hand, there was this self-righteous servant on duty the second night... He was't only rude, his answer to my wife was despicable! My daughter stood next to her and man, she was angry! She may has Down Syndrome, but she sure has much more manners than he showed... To be honest, I was compensated for the inconvenience and I do appreciate it. I wish to thank again but our experience with 'Tryp Montalvo' will last with mixed feelings...sorry for that! We remember the superb breakfast, the rest of the staff and we do hope that everything will be done to prevent future errors...
Friendly and helpful staff. Good value for your money. Went there 3 times in 7 years. Quality stays the same. Great breakfast. Close to highway. Possibility to put your car in the garage for 4€ per night. International channels on TV. Free WiFi.
a nice hotel on the outskirts of Salamanca bus handy.the staff were friendly and the rooms nice.all nice and quiet.easy to find easy check in with reasonable prices good restaurant.plenty of parking free but also underground for a small charge 4 euros
This hotel is great if you are a car driver and don't want to have a drink. It's situation is rather unpromising in a trading estate the other side of the road of a major road However it was a good price and we had fabulous views over the city. The reception staff told us where to park for free so we were right next to the old bridge and could then easily walk into the city, which was about a Mile from the hotel(but would NOT be a nice walk). The room itself was fine . I would stay again on the basis of price and ease with the car. Definitely not for pedestrians.
Very nice hotel for the 50 euros we paid. Great views of the city from our room and only a 5 minute drive to the city centre. We also found a very inexpensive place to eat breakfast just a few blocks away as hotel is located near a light industrial area so cheap eats for the local workers. Easy in and out from the highway.
