We stayed here for 2 nights last year and liked it enough that we stayed again this year. I am not one to write a negative review, but after many months this issue still bothers me, so I thought it be best that people knew. I use Trip Advisor a lot in my research for different trips and if it prevents another person's problem then I think that would be good. We stayed in the owner's suite each time. From last year to this year the carpet had many stains. The whole unit had a musty smell and did not seem as clean as the previous year. Also the pull out couch was so uncomfortable-lumpy with firm springs that my son was better to sleep on the cushions than pulling it out. We liked the owners unit in the past because of the kitchen and it's easy access onto the bike path. Aside from the cleanliness and sleeping issue, we had another problem: my bike was stolen from inside the porch of the owner's unit. To our fault, the sliding glass door was closed but apparently not locked (it has a little rickety slide latch only to be done from the inside). I had put trust in thinking that this was a safe area and hotel. Who would think that someone would walk all the way down past the hotel office past a gate and up into the sliding door onto our porch? Someone pretty bold, desperate, or someone who knows the place well. Lesson learned: Never assume and lock your things up even in a quiet beach town like Fort Bragg. Too bad you can't trust anyone anywhere anymore. We filed a report with the police department. The hotel management was more defensive and superficial than apologetic or surprised. They said they had not had any other burglaries, but I wonder if that is the truth. I would suggest better lighting, better key-lockable gates/doors, and security cameras. Not the greatest in customer care and safety, plus the decline in condition of the unit- so for those reasons we will not be back.

My husband and I stayed here on a mid week roadtrip in Nov 2017. What a treat. We loved the view of the bluff and ocean out the large sliding glass doors. We were able to enjoy the table and chairs on our personal patio and just watch the ocean and sunset. We were able to walk along the Coastal Trail several times, meeting many people both visitors and locals. The king size bed was very comfortable and the room was nice. 2 things we noticed as being top notch were, no closet in the room and a very sparse breakfast that we had to walk to the next motel to get. But we would definitely stay here again and again.

Top floor, great views of crashing waves from private balcony. Jacuzzi was right IN room, with high sides, which made getting into it for a shower a bit difficult. Breakfast foods very good but at their sister motel (Beachcomber) down the trail. The lobby was very tiny and everyone tripped over each other trying to toast, make oatmeal, etc. There was no-where to sit outside, except on the steps, and I did not see to-go boxes, which would have been nice. Otherwise very clean, and very comfortable.

We had a top floor deluxe room with a balcony at the Surf & Sand Lodge and it was super. The bed was comfy and the views of the sunset from the balcony were gorgeous. It was very windy when we were there and that added to the beauty of the ocean, cliffs and beach. Having your morning cuppa while sitting on the balcony was a great way to start the day. It was a friendly quick check in with ample parking right by our door. Its a good choice to say here.

Love the ocean views, the private decks that walk down to the path, the front desk people (especially Joe 😊), the size and comfort of the rooms, the location, the price. What else can I say... we've stayed here a lot!

Lovely welcome after a longish days travel, great view out to the ocean. Very comfy bed and appointed room, breakfast in the hotel next door was adequate. Pathway outside was great to walk a meal off we will return

After a VERY LONG day on the road, we checked in after hours, thankfully with the kind receptionist who was waiting for us. Beautiful room; sunset view; can walk out to the ocean; great location! Beds were comfy and a nice shower.

Nice reception, nice room with a partial view of the ocean. breakfast is at the close by sister hotel. weather was not excellent and did not allow to fully appreciate the view. but you hear and smell the ocean and that's great.

Few days' rest after a long drive down the Oregon coast - and Surfside provided exactly what we needed. The rooms are very comfortable and the views out to sea from the balconies cannot be bettered. Very peaceful, very relaxing

Here is a place that combines amazing views with wonderful accommodations. The room was very cozy with the fireplace. The room and bath were spotless and the bed and pillow were terrific. It was also pretty quiet. The boardwalk outside the property were excellent.
