Great location. Great old building. Service OK without being “grand”. Rooms a little tired but clean. Close to crown restaurants and Southbank - easy walk. Parking on site - not cheap but it works. Overall a good not a grand place to stay
The hotel is fine and the staff are great. The loft apartment was charming and the views are amazing. The pool was a tad cold but very clean. The thing that disappointed us was that the new owners don’t permit ham or bacon. We pre-purchased breakfast and all we wanted was a nice dish of bacon and eggs and a coffee. Half the breakfast menu items contain bacon or ham and the restaurant needed to update the menu to reflect this rather than telling us no, nope, unavailable for each item we selected. You could serve a fruitarian-only menu for all I care just let your guests know at the time of booking.
Our stay at the Quest Grand Hotel was perfect. Check in was a breeze, after a busy morning exploring the Melbourne Zoo. We took advantage of the Valet Parking which was additional $35 but worth it. Upon check in, my husband received a chocolate treat and card, as it was his birthday. This was a lovely gesture and much appreciated. We also enjoyed the $20 per person breakfast the next morning. It included a main dish plus 2 sides, juice and tea or coffee. Very adequate and delicious. Telephone ahead before your arrival to have this noted on your booking, otherwise the breakfast is per item and may cost more than the $20 per person. We also enjoyed the 11am check out, it meant we weren't rushed to get to breakfast early and then hurry to check out 10am which is at most places. The location is perfect! We utilised the tram which is on the doorstep and could have easily used the train as well. It is also easy walking distance to Southbank and Crown Complex.
We booked a night in this hotel for our daughter and her partner to celebrate her birthday. When the concierge Denis found out it was her birthday during check in he went above and beyond the make their stay perfect along with their 6th floor balcony room overlooking Southern Cross station. They wished they could have stayed longer to enjoy more of the amenities on offer and the super comfy bed! This is a beautiful old building which has been restored to an excellent standard. The location is perfect and surprisingly quiet considering its location.
We enjoyed a grand experience here at the hotel with a great breakfast the next day. The pool and spa were excellent and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we had a very relaxing stay.
I chose to stay here overnight because of the history of the place. I should have looked closer at the railway lines outside. You need to request a room away from the train line as it does make it a bit noisy. The hotel had a lovely old world air about it which I did appreciate. The restaurant way closed for dinner during my stay, but the breakfast was excellent.
This hotel has an old style charm about it. It is well priced and very well located. All the rooms have cooking facilities. I especially like the separate living and bedroom area though it would be nice to have a TV in the bedroom.
Beautifully maintained in early 1900's style.. clean and spacious. Staff friendly and a lovely touch with a hand written welcome card and chocolates Convenient location to transport and convention centre
I had a last minute booking which was accomodated superbly. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location within the CBD and the apartment was very comfortable. Will stay again.
Great location, wonderful breakfast and comfortable beds. The hotel is feeling pretty tired and experiences with staff were inconsistent. We have always loved staying here in the past but on this occasion we were left feeling a bit disappointed overall. All our requests were catered to. The rooms are clean but dated and tired. The staff had a great 'can do' attitude but were not over friendly with the exception of a few.
