Recommended if you want somewhere basic, central to everything. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Mini kitchen is awesome. Great location. Friendly staff. Easy late night check in. Supermarket 2 minute walk.
There is an overpowering smell of deep fried fish/ fryer oil in the hallway which is disgusting. There is also a smell in the room of some sort of toxic chemical, it smells very strong as you open the door, like they might be trying to cover something up. Bed is uncomfortable and pillows are worse
I highly recommend this apartment to stay at. I went with my partner for a short holiday and it was legit perfect! Staff 10/10 friendly, even took the time to show us the map and help us on where we have to go and gave us cheap vouchers!! Saved us $$$$ Hotel is AMAZING value, kitchen tick washing machine tick fridge tick views tick air conditioning tick 😊
Our room was bright and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, pots and pans. As a convenience it was great to have a "washer/dryer in one" however, it took forever to do a load so plan accordingly. One improvement would be a shower door situation that didn't flood the floor with each shower. There is a stop for the free City Circle train right around the corner. Also within a few minutes walk is the Queen Victoria Market. We found many places to eat at the market and lots of options to bring home to prepare. Restaurants, grocery store and shopping in each direction.
Stayed here 3 nights in mid-January 2018. Apartments are located next door to the reception. Guests are provided an access tap card to open the outer and inner doors to the lift lobby in addition to the room key. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite-type apartment which was comfy, clean and well maintained. The bathroom/toilet was located just opposite the bedroom and had a shower stall and laundry washing machine. An iron and ironing board was also provided. The living and kitchen area was located down a short flight of steps. The sofa could be converted to a sofa bed. Kitchen was fairly well equipped with cooker hob/hood, kettle, fridge, cooking & eating utensils and a dishwasher. Liquid washing detergent and scourer was also thoughtfully provided. There were a few minor problems- the only aircon in the apartment was located in the living area. There was no aircon in the bedroom which meant having to leave the bedroom door open to stay cool (we experienced 40C this Melbourne summer!). Also the TV was small, not much larger than a computer monitor and the WiFi signal was weak to non-existent. We ended up using our mobile data connection. The location of the apartment was the big plus. Right within the CBD, just 3-4 min walk from Central Station and about 15min walk from Flinders Station. Plenty of food and shopping all just a short walk away. The free Melbourne guided walking tours start from the Victoria state library about 6min walk away. For it's comfort, convenient location and reasonable price compared to other CBD accommodation, it's a highly recommended place to stay while exploring Melbourne.
Great location! Pretty close to everything like the emporium shopping center, Hoyts cinema and some Asian restaurants. The receptionist was very friendly and she recommended some tourist attraction places to us, showed us the direction and how to use the transportation. It was a great experience.
In Melbourne for a quick work trip. I checked into my room between meetings on a 42c day and found the room to be insanely hot as the blinds were open and the room had caught the afternoon sun, heating the room to well over 50c. No problem, AC will sort it out. Nope. I contacted the desk who tried to fix it however I had to get to another meeting so left it with them. We agreed that if it wasn't fixed when I came back they'd put me in another room. These things happen, I'm reasonable and that's a good solution. Unfortunately when I returned to the hotel the AC was not fixed and they'd rented out the other room. Uncool. The room was still insanely hot so I had to leave the hotel.
We are currently staying at City Edge on Elizabeth, checked in on Monday afternoon. The hallways have an unpleasant smell....mixture of food and ciggerette smoke. The room was dissapointing, a lot smaller than I was expecting from photos on the booking website booking.com The shower stall could use a good scrub as there is mould and grime on the tiles and shower screen door. The hotel also does not provide face wash cloths, when I asked at reception for them thinking it was an oversight by housekeeping I was informed that they do not have wash cloths!!!!! There is one small towel rail in the bathroom and no hook on the back of the door so there is nowhere to hang a 2nd towel to dry. The floor mat provided was not clean with brown spots all over it. The carpet in the room is badly stained and would benefit from a good carpet clean. Apartments are not serviced during your stay unless you stay longer than 7 days, you are expected to take rubbish out ect, however no additional rubbish bags are provided and bin provided is small and not adequate for a stay linger than 1 or 2 days. Washing machine is provided however no laundry liquid. To use the kettle in the kitchenette you are required to use an extension cord as the powerpoint is high up and kettle cord does not reach. What is provided in kitchenette is inadequate.....one saucepan and no frypan???? If you wanted to prepare a meal you would not be able to. You can hear a lot of noise from the street at nigjt. Bed was comfortable, pillows were not. Location is ideal for public transport and resturants.
We arrived on Monday evening to check in. There were a few negatives feedback that I would like to share. 1)We were informed that there will be no Housekeeping unless request upon. Which is very much ridiculous because for a service apartment there should be Housekeeping every day regardless what's the excuse is. 2) If wants to do laundry and required detergent powder, it can be bought at the reception counter. This is another absurd thing to say the least. U provide washing machine but no detergent. I will definitely not come back here again. As a matter of fact we are checking out from City Edge On Elizabeth to another service apartment just round the next block.
"Being a long way from home and new to Melbourne the staff, Zafreen Ashley and Martina were outstanding! The ladies knowledge of Melbourne was brilliant, which is very important to a customer.Nothing was a problem, the apartment was small, but it made up by the cleanliness and quiet. Thank you all for my pleasant stay, and I hope to to see you again."
