Very very happy! Had another venue cancel my booking at the last minute! Chris came to the rescue, took care of everything, literally saved our weekend! Great location, very clean, tidy apartment, with comfy beds. Staff were extremely helpful and courteous, nothing was too much trouble! Thankyou guys, will definitely stay here again!
I stayed for two nights while I was in Melbourne for training. The hotel had everything you would need, and was clean and comfortable and very central. I arrived after hours and had some trouble getting the keys out of the safe box, but someone came down to let me and another couple in. The staff on reception were really friendly too! Definitely recommend
We came down to Melbourne last night to attend an event and stayed here. The price is very good but you need to be aware that they charge for any small extra. They have no parking so that is at least $20 extra. If you book in before 2.00pm that is $30 more and booking out after 10.00am incurs the same penalty. The room itself was fine with a comfortable bed and all the standard equipment. It was also very quiet. Unfortunately you are hit with a strong chemical smell when you enter the room and it really stays with you. Surely in this day and age there are ways to neutralise this? The hotel is only a short walk from the Queen Victoria Market and also from the city. It's just a pity that they could not arrange cheaper parking.
Considering how small the rooms at at City Edge, there are a lot of features that aren’t always present in bigger rooms. I booked a Studio Double Apartment for one night as I was working in the city & was not disappointed. My room was very clean & came with iron, ironing board, kettle, tea & coffee facilities, bar fridge, TV, toaster & a 2-pot stove. There were also ample bathroom products in the bathroom. I was lucky to be there on the weekend, so parking was plentiful & free, but I can see it being a real issue if staying during the week. It is a short walk to the tram & restaurants, but having a car would be a hassle. If you are travelling for work or looking for cheap-and-easy accomodation, this place is great. It’s nothing flash, but a great place to rest or freshen up.
The City Edge, North Melbourne, delivers what it promises: clean comfortable rooms, right on the edge of the city. It is in easy walking distance of the Queen Victoria Markets and, opposite, the start of the free tram zone, which makes trips into the city centre easy and cost-free. There is only on-street parking – with fees and a four hour limit from about 8am-6pm. The accommodation is quite small, with adequate bathroom facilities, a comfortable bed, and a small but functional kitchen. Most rooms appear to have a tiny balcony. The site’s photographs represent the rooms quite well. The hotel also offers a student lounge, coin-operated laundry, and front desk service during office hours. I was particularly impressed by the considerate attention from the staff. When we were forced to cut short our stay for family reasons, they were absolutely understanding and more than willing to adjust our booking, although they were not obliged to. Big bouquet!
This hotel is in a great location on the northern edge of the Melbourne CBD a few minutes walk from the Victoria Market. The free tram zone is also close by plus a good selection of cafes and bars, try Prudence bar in Victoria Street for the evening drink, great vibe, only 5 minute walk. The room was very clean with a balcony, however on the small side, for an extended stay a more spacious room would be advantageous. I recommend this hotel to a business traveller as provides great value with the bonus of cooking facilities and ease to catch a tram to get around town.
My partner and I stayed here for 3 days in January 2017. We arrived a little earlier than check -in time at 2pm but without hesitation the receptionist allowed us to check in early which was great as we were so tired from traveling. The room itself was small, cute yet cosy however there were some areas that wasn't clean.... We had a little balcony that caught the sun in the afternoon which was nice. We didn't have much of a noise pollution. The location was great, close to shops, the trams and Victoria Market. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this place.
- No front desk after 6pm - No Onsite parking - Beds are hard and stiff - No body wash just hand soap - No toothpaste - Shower runs cold after 3 minutes - Dried snot uncleaned on two of the chairs - Dirty smudged walls - I requested a double bed as I'm quite tall. Was assured this would happen, was given a twin single room (again no staff after 6pm to help swap rooms) -Dirty Cups - Spider webs on ceiling of balcony - Paper like walls. Can hear straight through. - Shower leaked all over bathroom tiles. - One of the single beds was covered in what looked like flakes of dirt. I could go on.. I've travelled across the world and have used many budget accomodation before. This is by far the worst I've had..
The one plus point for City Edge was that I arrived before their nominated check-in time of 2pm but was promptly given a room. I had asked for a quiet room but was given one overlooking a busy street. As the hotel was clearly not full this was a bit unnecessary. The room (studio - 1 queen bed) was small and rather worn. Everything here is an extra charge - breakfast, housekeeping & extra bathroom consumables or changes of towels. Also when you get your credit card statement be prepared for the credit card surcharge that is added but is not mentioned anywhere on your booking confirmation or anywhere on the website. Australia must be the only country where you pay 1st world prices and still get hit with credit card surcharge. Particularly for hotels where almost nobody will pay cash (if the hotel even accepts it) and most people will use credit cards.
Well situated in proximity to Melbourne's major Hospitals & the infamous City Markets, and only a few minutes Tram ride to the City Centre. The apartment rooms are well presented, very clean, & competitively priced. All of the expected facilities & services are provided, including good security, & venue reception services. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so we have no hesitation in recommending City Edge Apartments at North Melbourne. Lionel Y Launceston Tasmania
