Staff is helpfull and always friendly. Rooms are nice and clean. The hotel is located in a good area with shopping facilicies around. Can be a bit noisy during rush hour, but I never had problems with noise in the night. Good local kitchen. Definitivily my favorite hotel in Medellin.

Location is indisputably the best, if you're not in to bar hopping and playing the night seen. If so, that's only 5 min by taxi. Yup, breakfast buffet is good and service impeccable. Not a shopper, but SantaFe Mall is incredible and great on a rainy day; other is virtually right next door. Hard Rock Cafe and other known restaurant chains right across the street. BUT - as previously written about, mattresses seem really cheap and uncomfortably hard (and I like hard beds). They may be different in other rooms, as I just don't understand previous review that state the contrary. Noise - Had a nice big room (3rd floor next to elevator), which came with computer, sofa, chair; & king size bed. Hotel seems to have been renovated, but wish they would have sprung for insulated window. Guarantee: you will not need an alarm clock. Trucks and motorcycles start at around 6:30 AM. So while the elevator wasn't a problems, the road noise and weekend nightlife from the McDonald's next door is annoying.

This hotel while a bit old and pricey ($110 USD per night) is centrally located with a McDonald's, Hard Rock Cafe and Starbucks within a one minute walk distance. Their tour recommendations were great! Carlos (a former police officer) have us a private Pablo Escobar tour (for $60 USD per person) and the group tour to Guajate and Piedro de Penol was great, too-)) The room is spacious with two full sized beds that are comfortable. The pool, gym and jacuzzi are very small though - Special mention goes to Miriam and Juan at the front desl/reception - veru professional and welcoming all the time. Breakfast buffet at the hotel veranda is good too - altho the same variety and limited choices everyday.

Excellent hotel. I would recommend every visitor to Medellin stay in this hotel. The location is fantastic, safe and close to everything. Thank you Lauren for making our trip to Medellin so wonderful.

From the welcoming drink, to the kind staff who are eager to make my stay pleasant to the coffee I was served (before official breakfast was served) while I was awaiting my 5:40am pick-up to the airport, I enjoyed this home away from home. The hotel is steps away from two shopping malls and banks and cambios as well as fine restaurants. Breakfast is included in the room rate and includes a full buffet of fresh fruits, breads and hot buffet, plus a chef who prepares made-to-order eggs. Had no problem, sticking to my low-sodium regimen and appreciated the staff's thoughtful service.

Medellin was my first stop in Colombia. But I had missed the last flight out to Medellin from Bogota. No airline, it seemed, was going there at that time, and no one told me about the way-more affordable and enjoyable overnight buses I could have taken. So, at 12:30am, I just had to sit on a bench at an airport restaurant, waiting, waiting, and waiting for the first flight out, the 5:30am flight (which, as it turned out, was actually delayed even longer due to airplane malfunction). Suffice it to say, by the time I finally arrived to Hotel Poblado, I was probably 1 more button press away from turning into Michael Douglas in Falling Down. Luckily, the only button being pressed was the elevator to my room. I check in at 8am, but was not offered a courtesy refund for not having used the room the night before. (Due to my state of mind, I hadn't asked for one and it was probably a good idea I avoided a confrontation about it during check-in. But I did notify the hotel the night before that I wasn't going to make it. Instead of giving me options to save money, they just said, OK, no problem. That's honestly the only reason it's 4-rating vs. 5.) I take a shower and a nap and after I got my head right, I realized how conveniently located to stores and restaurants, how well lit and modern, and how courteous and professional the hotel staff actually were. I usually prefer to stay at hostels when traveling solo, but a friend recommended I stay in a full-blown hotel in a safe neighborhood. And frankly, after an unexpectedly frustrating 36-hour commute from JFK, I'm glad I stayed at this hotel.

I highly recommend this Hotel for the Business Traveler. The place is well kept. Comfortable bed and a clean room. Hotel staff very friendly and they all speak English. The restaurant offers a great breakfast and the service is 5 star.

Loved the accommodations here. Clean environment and helpful staff. My breakfast was included for my 5 day visit from 7-11am. It was buffet style with a variety of foods. Easy access to local transportation. If you love to shop, Santafe mall is across the street. Very busy area, traffic can be an issue, otherwise I recommend this hotel.

This place is rated No.1 in Medellin for good reason! We were welcomed at check in with a complimentary glass of wine - what a great start to our stay. It's in just about the best location in the Poblado area of Medellin. Lots of great shopping malls and restaurants are a short and safe walk away. All the staff were very friendly and helpful although not a lot of English is spoken. Every area of the hotel was clean and well maintained and our room and bathroom were spotless and had plenty of hot water - not always the case in Colombia. The bed was comfortable, the wi-fi signal was strong and TV was good. The room was serviced daily by a very cheerful lady. The hotel restaurant is set in an attractive terrace area and we enjoyed 2 very good meals here as well as a decent breakfast buffet each morning (which was included in the rate) The rate is very reasonable especially when you consider the outstanding location. If I return to Medellin I would certainly stay here again.

We were here because of our tour group. Large room, water consistently not terribly hot during our three night stay. Lots of decent restaurants nearby. The one meal the hotel served to our tour group was quite bad.
