We booked 2 nights b&b with an evening meal for a short break and were impressed by this hotel. It's location is ideal, just a 5 -10 minute walk to town in one direction or to the Quays in the other . The room was very comfortable and spacious and staff were very pleasant and helpful. The only small complaint was the main course for the meal was quite small, I thought my potatoes were coming separate until I found them under the chicken. I would definitely consider another stay and would recommend .
Stayed here for one night, second time to stay this year. Love this hotel, rooms are clean and spacious. Staff are friendly. Availed of spa treatment, very good. Little bit disappointed this time as 3 times before 10 am housekeeping entered the room while we were trying to sleep. Breakfast also was disappointing as trays were empty, had to go up 4 different times to get bread, sausages, eggs and bacon. Also had to ask each time for milk, sugar and cutlery. We really like this hotel, but feel these points can be improved on.
Huge bedroom and great to find a hotel that will sleep 5 in 1 room. Excellent spa and pool facilities. Service was friendly and speedy. Lovely bar to relax in at night and a small play park on site so the little ones could run around. Excellent value for money.
Just back from a stay at Westport woods for a weekend with our group from young Dublin GAA team. I can not speak highly enough of the hotel or Westport itself. Location was just a few minutes walk from the town with the best taxi service ever for the return journey to the hotel. The facilities for the children were excellent with the kids club collecting the smaller children from the rooms ! and a full range of activities for the teenagers. The rooms were great, staff were excellent and our large group was catered for with ease by the staff. Will definitely be back hopefully soon.
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights as part of a family celebration. The hotel is a 15 min walk (downhill) to the town, so the location is good. Its also a 10 min walk to the Harbour where they are more restaurants/shops etc. The rooms were a little bit dated, but big (we had 3 beds in our room, a double and 2 singles) and they were clean. TV didn’t work, this didn’t bother us but may have been an issue for others. Wifi was available but it was kept coming and going, especially in the evening time. We had bar food on the first night and it was lovely, everyone was happy and the portions were decent size and it was good value for money. The staff were friendly. The breakfast selection was ok, typical Irish fry foods, but it could have had a little bit of more attention to detail. Only one selection of cheese & ham, on 2 out of the 3 mornings these were not put out and we had to ask for them. There was a selection of gluten free options however by 9am on Sunday morning these were still not put out. Swimming pool area is ok. They have a kiddies pool, Jacuzzi, steamroom, sauna. On the 3rd day I went down to use the Jacuzzi and was told by the lifeguard member of staff that it was not working and that I couldn’t get in, despite there being bubbles. I left to go back to my room as it was the only thing I wanted to get into only for members of the family to say she let other people into it a half hour later. I was disappointed, as if I had been told that it was being cleaned etc and to wait then I would have and I would have understood but the member of staff just said no that it could not be used, she was quite abrupt. Book ahead if you want to use the beauty rooms, as they seem to have only one member of staff on. Overall this hotel was ok and we really enjoy our time together as a family, just a few little things let it down and my reason for not full stars.
Just back from a two night stay, on check in we had to wait as our room was not ready but Annette at reception was lovely to us, kept us informed of how long it would be and gave us complimentary drink! Our room was fantastic, we had a 4 month old baby with us and we were thrilled with it! Ate in the bar for lunch and it was lovely, bar tender was super (can’t think of his name but he was so nice to our little girl)! Checked out this morning and again Annette was running the show! She was under pressure with all the check outs but kept her cool, and was so nice and polite to everyone! Thanks to all, we will be back.
We recently stayed for 3 nights. We are a party of 5, 2 adults and 3 kids. We really enjoyed our stay.. the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was lovely and clean. My kids really enjoyed the kiddies club and couldn't wait to get back to their activities. We went horse riding, this was organised thru reception and the receptionist couldn't have been more friendly and professional, keeping us well informed of what was happening even thou she was obviously very busy. Evening meals were delicious, we ate in main dinning room and cafe beside it ,reasonable priced and good atmosphere . I had a spa treatment and used the swimming pool and both were excellent. Clean and well maintained . Very well location. Would definitely recommend this hotel, especially to young families. Good memories
On check in we were given roon 301, this was nice and clean, we just left in our bags and went to the bar for dinner. We ordered fish and chips, the food came quickly. I ordered a pint of Guinness from a young barman and I never seen him or the pint again. The food portions were very small and there was'nt much on the desert menu. We went back to our room and were met with a very strong smell from the toilet. We rang reception and they told us to come to the front desk. We now were given room 306, a much bigger and nicer room smell frree. Breakfast the next morning was a deaster, we had a long wait to be seated and the hot food ran out. The next day at breakfast was worse. Day 3 was no better, no eggs, mushrooms or tomatoes. There was a kids club on that weekend. I know kids will be kids but it was hard to get a good nights sleep. The hotel is nice and just 10 minutes out of town, the staff are very nice and helpful. This hotel is very well kept and spotless too.
Spent a weekend with friends here, we were met by very friendly and helpful receptionist and equally friendly and helpful receptionist at our check out. Rooms were very comfortable a clean. Bar food excellent and great value for money. Bar staff also exceptional. Pool looked really good but unfortunately didn't get a chance to use it as we were busy visiting the local hostelries, The Big Tree and Mat Molloys, great music and craic there. Lovely visit to Westport House only 10 minute walk away. Enjoyed our weekend and a lot of that was down to our hotel accommodation. Will we be back??? For Sure!!!!
I stayed here recently on a two night mini-break. The hotel was fully booked for one of the nights so they arranged for another member of our party to stay at a small guest house close by. We were allocated a room on the ground floor, which had a double and single bed, and overlooked the garden. Our room was quite spacious and nicely decorated nicely. Our beds were comfortable and we did have a good night’s sleep. It had the usual tea/coffee making facilities/ table and chairs and it had a nice size bathroom. In the bathroom, the shower gel and shampoo were on the wall, which would have been a problem to use if you had wanted a bath. A note highlighted that if you had forgotten anything i.e. toothpaste, you could go to reception and they would assist you. There was also a gym and pool, which looked nice enough but we did not use. We had drinks in the bar during the day and in evening we took our drinks and sat out in the main reception in the more comfortable chairs. There was a large coach party staying in the hotel and while they sectioned off a small part when they did an art session, it did not really impact on us. We ate in the restaurant on one of the nights, which was included in our deal and the food was nice (while our package menu was limited, we also ordered off the much more expensive menu as well) . However, the service was slow and the waitresses would pass by and not make eye contact with you, which meant that you did have to wait a while to attract their attention. In the morning, the breakfast was a buffet with all the usual offerings but again it was difficult to attract the waitresses attention for our teas/coffee. This hotel is a short walk into the town of Westport. While some of the areas of the hotel were a bit dated and could do with modernising, we found the hotel to be of great value (especially on the package we were on). We did enjoy our stay and will be returning.
