New Hotel Vieux Port3.0 out of 5.0

5 mn from the Vieux Port (but without views in most if not all rooms), this is a functional hotel designed for business rather than tourism some decades ago. It is perfectly clean, rooms are spacious, well equipped. All this brings a sort of old timer's charm. Service is very nice and helpful. A good combination
My husband and I were grateful for the staff at the New Hotel for finding us a room on a same day desperate search for better accommodations that the Hermes coinciding with a large Convention and the day president Macron was in town. The New Hotel made up for the not great impression we had in Marseille upon our arrival and stay at the Hermes. The New Hotel location changed our perspective and view point of Marseille. Walking distance to the heart of Vieux Point yet quiet and in a great spot. Our suite was beautiful and extremely comfortable with a fabulous view .It felt heavenly after our previous digs. Breakfast was delicious and offered a large selection . We were only able to stay a night as the hotel was booked solid. It is worth booking in advance. We will definitely stay here again. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Thumbs up!
Great location, informative staff, good breakfast and lovely rooms. Three of us were in and out about 3 times during September and early October for stays of 2 days. Only criticism is that in our last stay, early October, the air conditioning had been turned off. It was too warm at night and there were a couple of annoying mosquitos.
Great location at the center of the bay of Old Marseille. Easy access and in walking distance to a lot of sights and also from the railwaystation/shuttle bus station. Bus and tramstop a couple minutes walk away if you want to see other parts of the city, so couldn't have had a better location. There was a door between the entrance and bathroom, to the bedroom, which filtered any eventual noise from the hall and elevator, so had a good night sleep. There was a fridge, but it didn't really cool anything, but this time it was of no importance to me. Aircon not too effective and a bit noisy. Very friendly and helpful staff, clean room, so wouldn't mind staying here another time.
This hotel is in a great location in the old port. We walked to it from the train station, took about 15 mins. The room was a good size and the bed very comfortable. The pillows could be better, a bit lumpy!! The bathroom was also a good size but the shower wasn't great. There's a coffee machine in the room but you get charged for using it, which seems a bit odd. We only met one member of staff and she was very pleasant.
The reason this hotel gets a 4 star rating is location. The hotel is literally a 1 minute walk from "Vieux Port" metro station on the blue line. From the Canbieres street exit, get out, cross to the other side, and enter the small street facing you, the hotel will be on your left-hand side. Reception is small but helpful staff, old elevator with the metallic mesh. Breakfast was included and was decent. Fresh croissant and pain abu chocolate, corn flakes, hams, yogurt, eggs, dried fruits and several juices. Room is small and basic with functional AC. Bathroom alright, but no curtains to shower so it gets wet and messy. In other words, hotel itself is just alright, but the location is superb to explore Marseille!
Small boutique type hotel that had that great turn of the 19th century caged elevator that fits three people sideways. Our room was huge with a nice view of the waterfront if we leaned out the window. Bathroom was very nice and clean and the toilet even had a view of the harbor if you opened the french door...but then others could also see in. Inclusive breakfast may seem expensive but is in keeping with the prices surrounding the hotel. Walk to great restaurants, sites, tour operators and museums. There is a a fantastic grocery 1 block away with everything you'll need.
Very good choice for someone who want to be near to vieux port! The room was clean and had nice view, the staff was friendly and the location was brilliant! I thought the room was good value for money!
I know the hotel has mixed reviews but I found it perfectly fine. The room was a little small but I was on my own so worked ok. Fantastic location right on the Vieux port and next to the Metro station so fantastic for me attending a conference. I'm afraid I used the hotel as a bit of a crash pad as I was on my own and tended to eat out and can't comment on the breakfast but I met friends who were randomly staying in the same hotel who recommended it. Overall a nice stat and comfortable hotel.
Excellent little hotel 30 seconds walk from the waterfront. Received a very warm welcome from the receptionist who spoke very good English (but allowed us to practice our French). Very decent sized room and nicely decorated with a good bathroom. Much better than i had expected of any hotel in this part of the city for the money. The rate was not bad at all, especially as I had booked only a couple of days ahead on the Tour de France weekend. Ok breakfast - nothing particularly to rave about but a decent choice of cereals, breads, pastries, and a little meat/cheese. I would definitely book again. Very close to the TGV railway station (15 mins walk/2 easy metro stops).
