I’m not quite sure how this got rated as well as it has. Perhaps the location, you certainly can’t fault that if you want to be near the old port. If you can’t find the hotel, just look for the burnt out restaurant on the ground floor and you’ll see it! We were stuck in an attic room that was incredibly hot, with a very small window. The whole place smelled a little dusty and old, and the breakfast was the poorest of any we’ve had on this trip so far (the coffee tasted like dirty water). If you want to stay near the harbour skip this place and pay a little more for one of the known brand places, you’ll have a much better stay I’m sure!

We had a few issues with the room over the stay, which the hotel didn't seem interested in resolving. Most of the staff were unfriendly but may have caught them on a bad day. The location is nice, but unless you get a really good deal on the price, I would probably look for somewhere else to stay.

Booked hotel online for 2 nights then extended for a third. Right smack bang in the middle of the port area next to an old church. No parking but huge parking lot attached to large shopping centre across the road. Wonderful old style hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Good value and excellent position for walking around Marseille.

Good hotel in a perfect position to visit Marseille. Placed in Vieux Port, make easy to go everywhere. If you arrived by the plane, take the bus from airport to St Charles(the central Railway station) and then 2 station with underground to Vieux Port. The underground is near hotel. Tiny but clean rooms and if you are lucky you get a room with a view. I had no breakfast so I can not tell something about this. A minus for the empty minibar. Just a bottle of water and a coffee machine in the room. Wi-fi free and fast.

I picked this hotel for the location knowing I wasn't getting a luxury hotel. With that in mind, the hotel very much met our expectations and we were happy with our stay. The location couldn't be any more ideal if you want to be right in the center of the port with easy access by metro and bus. The view from the room was great, although we had to go out on the balcony in the cold weather to enjoy it. Not complaining, I wasn't expecting much this time of year! We enjoyed it as best as we could. The hotel staff were friendly. We enjoyed the breakfast. Lots of things nearby for dinner. I would choose to stay here again.

This hotel is just few steps from Vieux Port and walking distance from main railway station. The gentleman at the reception was very friendly and polite. We got a room on 5th floor towards the city. The room was rather small, but the bathroom very spacious. The wall-to-wall carpet was a bit worn out, otherwise the room was clean. The breakfast wasn't worth its price, otherwise price/quality ok.

5 mn from the Vieux Port (but without views in most if not all rooms), this is a functional hotel designed for business rather than tourism some decades ago. It is perfectly clean, rooms are spacious, well equipped. All this brings a sort of old timer's charm. Service is very nice and helpful. A good combination

My husband and I were grateful for the staff at the New Hotel for finding us a room on a same day desperate search for better accommodations that the Hermes coinciding with a large Convention and the day president Macron was in town. The New Hotel made up for the not great impression we had in Marseille upon our arrival and stay at the Hermes. The New Hotel location changed our perspective and view point of Marseille. Walking distance to the heart of Vieux Point yet quiet and in a great spot. Our suite was beautiful and extremely comfortable with a fabulous view .It felt heavenly after our previous digs. Breakfast was delicious and offered a large selection . We were only able to stay a night as the hotel was booked solid. It is worth booking in advance. We will definitely stay here again. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Thumbs up!

Great location, informative staff, good breakfast and lovely rooms. Three of us were in and out about 3 times during September and early October for stays of 2 days. Only criticism is that in our last stay, early October, the air conditioning had been turned off. It was too warm at night and there were a couple of annoying mosquitos.

Great location at the center of the bay of Old Marseille. Easy access and in walking distance to a lot of sights and also from the railwaystation/shuttle bus station. Bus and tramstop a couple minutes walk away if you want to see other parts of the city, so couldn't have had a better location. There was a door between the entrance and bathroom, to the bedroom, which filtered any eventual noise from the hall and elevator, so had a good night sleep. There was a fridge, but it didn't really cool anything, but this time it was of no importance to me. Aircon not too effective and a bit noisy. Very friendly and helpful staff, clean room, so wouldn't mind staying here another time.
