Good views of the city whilst enjoying afternoon tea and cocktails. Tea lounge seemed to lack atmosphere but tea presentation and content was fine. Staff attentive. Adjacent cocktail bar had more character and style.
We have stayed in the Hilton Deansgate in Manchester a number of times recently and have always enjoyed our stay. The staff in reception are friendly and helpful, the last two times we were checked in by Antonia who upgraded us to an executive room on a higher floor The executive lounge is great with fantastic views over Manchester. The food served during the day and especially the evening canapés were very good. We had dinner in The Podium restaurant in the evening and the food and service was of a high standard, we had breakfast here also which had an excellent selection. We will definitely be returning.
Me & my boyfriend really enjoyed our stay at the Hilton! Upon arrival the reception staff were friendly and gave us a room on the 9th floor, the best they had at the time. The room had a great view of the city despite not being as high so don’t be disheartened if you get a lower floor room as views are still great. The room was very clean and spacious with free bottled water and toiletries. A mini bar was provided but the price for these items was ridiculous, £10 for a tiny bottle of vodka, needless to say we skipped the mini bar😂 there was also chocolate bar wrappers in the fridge which hadn’t been cleaned out which was disappointing but not a major issue. We did have drinks at cloud 23 which you need to book for either online or at reception. The view from the 23rd floor was amazing, service wasn’t the best as the staff weren’t very friendly and took a while to serve us but this again wasn’t a major issue. The gym and pool are also free to use. Overall our stay was great, a very lovely hotel and would definitely stay again!
Located in the heart of Manchaster this is a convenient hotel to stay. From the upper floors you have a n excellent view over the city. Rooms are very convenient and spacious. Staff very friendly and efficient. I will be back
This is a hotel that on and off for years I have visited as a Hilton Diamond member. It varies from excellent to terrible and I still struggle to know why, it just is not consistent. The fact it has the views is clearly it's biggest selling point and a executive lounge on the 23rd floor, it does share that lounge with a bar/club so you while clearly a great feature can also be an issue. Checkin on this occasion was terrible, the person on front desk should not have been there but after speaking to a manager things were resolved and the rest of the brief stay was trouble free. The lounge I mentioned before serves it seems different things depending on which day of the week it is. From what I can tell in the evening 6-8 you have wine, beer and spirits Monday to Thursday. Friday and Saturday that changes to sparkling wine, normal wine and beer, no spirits then on a Sunday wine and beer only. Overall I think this is a poor way to run a lounge but assume it's as the crowd on Friday and Saturday would drink to many spirits as they do not police the lounge entry very well. During the day the lounge is a good place to work, but they also use it for afternoon tea so you can come in and find a reserved sign on nearly every table, not exactly welcoming and if you hoped for that window table when booking an Exec room, good luck! It's not all bad, the staff in the lounge are friendly and it has an excellent coffee machine. The rooms themselves are reasonable, lower floor rooms seem to be less sound proofed than higher floors and if you end up on 22 beware the music from the Cloud 23 above. As I started out saying it is a really mixed bag, it has a lounge (closes at 8pm or soon after as all becomes the bar) the pool and spa is reasonable from what I hear so it gets away with things because in Manchester it lacks any real competition. It could be so much better and some staff clearly believe this to but others are very poor indeed. Until Manchester catches up in terms of 4 and 5 star hotels I think Hilton Deansgate will fail to fulfil what it could be because it can get away with it, which is a shame. So I will return at some point and it is a hotel if the price is right I would say people should book, just temper your expectations and you will enjoy the stay.
What was always a kind of bland, business-like room felt kind of tired. No extractor in the bathroom. Went down to the bar for an aperitivo around 5pm but no... we hadn't booked! Hello.. thought we were 'guests'. We were made to form a queue of two for the lift to the bar and what followed was frankly hilarious. There was a 'bar queue manager' doing a whole 'all the president's men' thing with an earpiece in constant, intense contact with the bar above to manage the clearly very critical traffic flow. A couple of people came down the lift but wait... two young women who knew the ropes and had 'booked' arrived and were ushered ahead of us into the lift. A few more minutes of this pantomime and we were allowed to ascend to a half-empty bar (guffaws). Admittedly the view from the bar is wonderful and almost worth the dodgy £12 cocktails. I went off menu and stuck to mojitos - a wise choice. My adventurous partner was disappointed with his menu choices. £50 lighter we descended and went elsewhere for dinner. The following morning we encountered the highlight of our stay (aside from the view).. absolutely delightful desk and breakfast room staff. The breakfast was OK but the staff were a joy. I'm guessing maybe Hilton have a policy of moving / progressing people around the group which means a wonderfully eclectic mix of nationalities, all very driven and brimming with enthusiasm. The breakfast itself was OK but really, staff are the strong point. Pool was nice (and again, great staff). The overall lesson though is that the sensible thing would be to skip the actual hotel and just 'book' the bar.
We were unfortunately disturbed by noisy and inconsiderate neighbours on both sides who kept us awake on all three nights. The hotel did eventually evict them at 6.45am on the last morning of our stay after several complaints were made. What didn’t help was the appaling soundproofing which was unbelievably bad for such a prestigious landmark hotel. Every single sound transferred directly through the walls and air ducting which is just unacceptable and spoiled our stay completely. Many other residents we spoke to complained of this too. Also, we were very disappointed that hotel guests don’t have priority and flexible use of Cloud 23 lounge over the general public meaning we had to take a very late booking. This is also uncceptable and we feel cheated as the lounge access is one of the very misleading selling points of this hotel and one of the main reasons we stayed here. The other reason for staying was to use the spa which (despite trying to book 6 weeks in advance), we were unable to secure anything leaving us no option but to book an alternative spa outside of the hotel. All in all, a very disappointing experience and I would definately not recommend staying here. We were exhausted due to lack of sleep when we left!
Me and my boyfriend had a lovely stay in this hotel last week for a second time. We are Hilton honours members and stayed for my birthday - he had emailed the hotel to say we were staying for my birthday and we got a complementary upgrade which was perfect. The rooms are lovely, clean and modern with great views. Bathroom is great with toiletries and plenty of towels. Breakfast is just amazing - something we love about the Hilton hotels. 10 minute walk to the arndale centre with plenty of restaurants and bars on the way! Will definitely return!
Best Hilton iv been to fantastic in every way ! Rooms perfect Breakfast was lovely and in walking distance to bars and shopping area, was given a upgrade straight away, staff all very nice and the fantastic views over Manchester City ! Will be staying again.
This place unfortunately didn’t live up to the hype. The level of maintenance on our room was poor with filthy bathroom floor grout, a missing bathroom lock thumb turn and a badly fitting shower door. All were mentioned to the duty manager and met with no apology and a fair bit of apathy. The biggest disappointment though was the executive lounge. It was taken over by non-hotel customers having cream teas when we went up at 16:00 and then when we returned at 21:00 it was shut! I guess because they wanted the paying customers in cloud23 more than their valued hotel guests.
