The only reason it's got 1 star is you can't post anything less.I'm writing this as I'm laid in bed unable to get to sleep at 2:14pm as I feel like I'm sat in the middle of walkabout club as we speak I shut my eyes and feel like there cars are coming through the room. There is honestly no point in these apartment have windows because they do absolutely naff all, have huge gaps in the size of the Arndale centre itself I don't think they'd heard of single glazing when they put them in. I think a sheet of cling film would have served more purpose. Came away with my boyfriend for our anniversary and our 2 friends to visit the Christmas markets and do some Christmas shopping but highly doubt that will happen on 2hours sleep when the clubs don't shut till 4am opposite us and the cars don't stop beeping there horn's til after then. Absolutley shocking to be quite frank. The workers OBVIOUSLY know how loud it is on a night a stones throw away for the apartment and have done nothing to help this, charging £400 a weekend for 4 people for a mediocre room with no hot water you think they could maybe get themself some decent sound proof windows or even leave a measly pair of earplugs for their guests in there room as you know it's the LITTLE things but no obviously not. Will NOT be staying here again EVER and will definitely not be recommending to anyone I know.
This is a weird place. The idea of self-contained city-centre apartments is great, but in practice these are grim. The whole establishment feels a bit as I would imagine a bail hostel, with the odd incongruous pretension (a table fully set for dinner for two in the grotty kitchenette, for example). Racket from the street all night (even on a Tuesday), no double glazing, and clattering and banging from other guests overhead and on the same floor. I stayed here alone for work and was woken every five minutes by strange noises - I kept thinking someone had actually got into my apartment as the noise was so loud. Maintenance is also awful - everything’s grubby and tatty, from chipped furniture to sockets hanging off the walls and extravagant stains and mould in the bathroom. The toilet made an incredible howling noise every time it was flushed too. Rates are pretty good but WiFi is non-existent, which is a fundamental problem for business travellers. All in all, probably best left to the stags and hens who come to party and don’t mind if there’s no chance of getting any actual sleep.
Here for work... the place is clean and well located. The beds are terrible!! Arrived an the apartment was freezing and no hot water. Took a while to get that all working. There's no WiFi unless you sit in the freezing cold reception. The hard wire internet access in each room is so bad you might as well be back on dial up from 15-20 years ago. Its taken 6 minutes for the page to load. For work its bee a serious pain! Avoid this place if you can... you can do much better!
As I write this I’m stuck here overnight wishing I could leave. Booked in two nights and can already tell I’m going to have another sleepless night as it’s so noisy and I can hear every step (or stomp) the people in the room above takes and the bedroom window looks into the communal stairwell (nice and private!)so there’s people coming in at all hours and noise from outside. Apart from that it’s also damp and dirty with mould on the blinds and in the bathrooms, poorly fitted electric sockets and door handles loose. Frayed dirty blinds, cheap patched together furniture in bedrooms. There’s stains on the sofa and what appears to be mascara on the bedding. It’s not that I’m over fussy or am the type to look for problems- I can forgive if something needs a little bit of TLC but this is just unkempt, uncared for and downright dirty and is overpriced for what it is. The only positive for some might be the location, especially if you’re here on pleasure rather than business, but to be fair either way there’s far nicer places nearby for a similar price. There’s no way I’d ever stay here again.
We stayed for one night and I have to say that the facilities are really good . The only thing I did not like is the noise at night . People on the street shouting ... you could hear everything. Apart from that.... all good
The apartments are smack bang opposite Prinkworks so the location is quite good, however not so good when your trying to get some sleep and the bars/clubs around dont stop till 5am! We had to get freezing cold showers because the hot water wouldnt come through, you have to try and figure out a manual boiler dial on the wall to be able to use it! We couldn't use the pull out sofa bed because it was to filthy and all stained, the beds were also extremely uncomfortable! NO WIFI? what hotel doesn't have wifi these days!? You can find much better places to stay in Manchester for less money!!
From the outside the building looks great. Inside the main reception area also looks good with a very industrial/converted building feel. We were on the 3rd floor and the apartment we were in definitely wasn't featured in any pictures on here or booking.com. The apartment was a decent size, overlooked the printworks, had some of the basics. The downsides were...it was in relatively poor condition with dirty sofas, floors and mould on the blinds in the bathroom. Also in the bathroom the flush was missing (see pictures) The furniture in the bedrooms were cheap and did not look very sturdy. £115 for the night on a Thursday night was not value for money. On the plus side the location is excellent.
Apartment was ideal for a weekend in Manchester city centre. Across the road from the print-works and a few minutes from the arndale centre. Comfortable beds, large sofa and tv in the main room. Cooker, kettle, dishwasher and fridge freezer. Pool table to use free of charge. Comfortably slept 6 people.
We visited here this weekend and I have to say it was ideally suited to our needs. We were a group of six ladies on a hen weekend and the location is so central that lots of things are within walking distance. However the first impression of the place isn’t overly welcoming. There’s a huge dark area that you have to walk through to get to the reception. Once in the reception it is light and welcoming and the staff are very friendly and helpful. However there were a couple of people that took our bags off us. They weren’t in uniform and didn’t have any kind of ID on them so we were concerned that they might have just run off with our bags. This was a common theme throughout our stay. Random Unidentified people sitting in the entrance without identification that they worked for city stop. On arrival into the apartment I was pleasantly surprised. We were on the top floor and the ceilings were beautiful. The rooms were modern and fresh looking and the living area was lovely to socialise in. Everything seemed perfect and fitted our needs. However on closer inspection there were a few things that need addressing: - the bathroom flooded every time someone showered as the floor wasn’t tilted towards the drain - the en suite had a nasty smell as the extractor fan didn’t seem to be working. - the shower in the en suite was quite dirty there were marks all over the base. - there were lots of lightbulbs missing or broken so lighting was quite limited. Including no light at all in the kitchen area. - the water was not hot so we all had to have slightly warm showers despite turning the temperature up to full! - there were broken sockets and things hanging off the walls that need addressing. One thing that we really missed was the lack of a welcome pack that explained how everything worked and a list of useful numbers. This would be really beneficial and easy to set up. Overall we had a great stay and probably would visit the apartments again.
Having looked for an apartment for a colleague and I came across City Stop, the rate was £85 for one room or £105 for two. I thought this was a good rate so booked. When we arrived the entrance area was very cold, the reception entrance was not welcoming at all. The gentleman that greeted us was very friendly though and helpful. The apartment looked fine when we arrived we sat in a nicely (basic) decorated living area, tea/coffee was provided which was a nice touch. We quickly realised there was a draft from the windows though as they did not shut in full and were old with gaps. When I walked into the bedroom I was confronted with run down bedroom furniture where drawers did not shut correctly and it all looked a bit thrown in there. (room 11 on 2nd floor). The bed itself was extremely uncomfortable and I felt every spring in the double bed (pillows were fine as was the quilt and sheets were clean) The double room looked onto the stairwell inside the building which was extremely noisy and I heard every person as they walked up the stairs or walked from lift to their room due to the open plan spiralling stairs. From 3am till 6am I was kept awake by a large group of extremely noisy residents, I am extremely shocked that the night staff couldn't hear this and was disappointed to have lost so much sleep. The bathroom was a disgrace, it was damp, cold, poorly decorated and did not smell nice. The toilet made a terrible noise when flushed which no doubt woke adjacent rooms, there was damp around the bath and on the broken blinds. Given that there are other apartments of a much higher standard within walking distance (and around the same price) I WILL NOT be staying again and will inform colleagues not to stay also.
