We stayed at the Mercure before we take the boat to São Gabriel. The hotel is nice and so is the stuff. Generous breakfast, nice pool at the roof garden, also a gym and sauna. Our floor's interior seemed a little "abandoned" but the room itself was nice and spacious. That side of the building was problematic though since the air con units in the ground floor were loud at night. We were on the fourth floor. Also, the location is not the best possible. Not a convenient bus stop to the center nearby and the taxi ride costs around 23 reais. If you decide to walk to downtown, it will take you about an hour but the route is interesting and we had the chance to see neighborhoods that we wouldn't have otherwise.
Reliable, affordable, English speaking staff. Near the big mall if you need to stock up on last minute items for your Amazon cruise. Great restaurant next door Villages. Stayed here over the years on our way into and out of the Amazon for fishing trips. Great place to rest and repack before the 12:30 am flight back to the States or BA. Christian the Manger, Eddie, and the staff work hard to satisfy.
The rate was very good and the hotel comfortable. The location is near a modern mall but far from the old area...you need to take a bus or taxi. The bedroom was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was fine - not the biggest or most modern but acceptable. Cleaning staff were a bit over keen on coming to check minibar or clean room. Other than the location the hotel is recommended.
My trip to Manaus was an added 4 days, after running a conference at the deluxe Copacabana Palace Hotel in Rio, which I love, but actually enjoyed my stay at the Mercure Manaus just as much - incredible value, clean, well designed and appointed rooms, super friendly staff - from the GM, the front desk, housekeeping and breakfast attendants and a safe and convenient location - 5 minutes walk from the excellent Manauara Mall and an easy walk to some great restaurants - Cachacaria do Dedé & Empório (in the Mall and like an Amazonian style Eataly - market, store, eatery), friendly local Choupana, and my favorite, right next door, the Village Casa de Comidas, which was fantastic. As a female traveling solo I felt perfectly safe walking in the neighborhood, even after dark. The General Manager, Christian, and the front desk staff went out of their way to advise on restaurants and other tips and to make sure that I was completely comfortable and well taken care of. Coming back from a tour it was so nice to be greeted as Miss Lorraine! Like coming home! There was a Carrefour supermarket a short walk away too that was also excellent and always fun to visit grocery stores in other countries. I would stay here again without hesitation and I enjoyed the city of Manaus and its friendly people and the warm welcome they gave to me very much.
Conveniently located in an upper class district in Manaus, not far from the historical centre. Restaurants and a massive shopping mall are within walking distance. Excellent front desk staff. Rooms need attention: the walls were dirty, the duvet did not have a cover (strongly recommended for higienic reasons, considering the fact that it is a hotel and I don't believe they have them washed every time a customer leaves a room). No hot water in the shower. I informed the reception and it was fixed, but then there was no water in the lavatory. It was fixed though. No safe in the bedroom. Restaurants around are not very inspiring, but it is a very short drive from Banzeiro, possibly one of the most creative restaurants in the city.
This hotel is a little out of town, but we only needed a night somewhere prior to an Amazon trip. Very limited options for dinner, it was a Sunday night and places were closed. 3 of us in a room, it was plenty big enough for all of us.
We (family with two children) stayed at the Mecure Manaus in June 2016 for 3 nights. The hotel is what you would expect from a Mercure. Simple, standard, not particularly charming, but facilities worked well and service was efficient. The location is excellent as it is walking distance from the best Shopping Mall of Manaus (called Manauara Shopping). Conclusion, good value for money.
Service was excellent all through the hotel. They were available all the time, and especially at the front desk they were exceptional. Whether we needed to book a massage or needed to extend our stay, they were always there for us. Breakfast was nice, there was a nice steam sauna at the top floor and the pool was very nice. There's even a nice view from the pool area. Wifi was very good close to the reception, but at times it was very slow in our room (close to the elevators). The room itself was very nice. The only exception is some bad smell that we had for two days in our bathroom. The other days there was no smell at all (we stayed for four nights). The hotel is just next door to one of the best malls (Manaura) in Manaus. If you don't mind walking, it takes about 45 minutes to do some sightseeing like Teatro Amazonas. We'd stay at this hotel again if we return to Manaus.
The hotel had a great breakfast, good sized rooms and comfortable beds.the hotel was clean and up to a good standard. It is not in the historical centre so taxis are a must to go most places but it is near shops and restaurants. It has a small swimming pool and a basic gym.
The Mercure is an excellent value, from nice clean rooms to excellent staff. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of. We had a rather large group, 11 rooms I think, and everyone was very happy with the accommodations including great breakfast. I was having trouble getting my phone to work and had to get a sim card from the mall there and all the instructions were in Portuguese. Leonimlea (Probably didn't spell that right, sorry) at the front desk helped me patiently for a very long time and even stayed beyond her work hours to make sure I taken care of. If it was up to me I would have given her a raise :). I felt she, and all the staff there were very professional and I would be proud of them as their employer. I would give 5 stars if the barking dogs next door had not interrupted my sleep several times, so next time I will stay on the side that the elevators are on. And yes, I plan on staying there again and actually look forward to it. Thanks Mercure for making our stay memorable!
