Hi we visited this hotel in February on our very short holiday. The hotel is located in st julians area and its location is very good. The check in staff is very friendly and so as restaurant staff. Hotel very clean. Lobby is very big and nice. Definitely recommend this hotel.
Great location in St Julian’s Bay, with a superb view of the Sea from the breakfast room. Arrived early and checked in but room wasn’t going to be ready until 3pm. Asked a quick questions about tour bus pickup location and was pointed to the travel desk where all of the available options were explained. When I returned after 3 pm room was ready and available. Clean and well appointed, limited view into a central area. Found all staff really helpful and they went above and beyond when I was experiencing an issue with the airport shuttle company. Good selection at breakfast with a good atmosphere and the excellent view. There looked like they have a rooftop terrace but I didn’t get the opportunity. Highly recommended.
Arrived at 1pm,was told room wasnt ready untill 3pm.We left our luggage in a left luggage room and came back at around 5pm.Checked in which was slow, went to our room and there was a 1/2 drank water bottle left in the wardrobe and the safe was locked. This shows the room probably was ready,as had it just been cleaned properly all this would of been aparent.Took bottle to reception, got a half hearted apolagy,no offer of a complimentry drink etc. Breakfast wasnt included in the price,so one morning we paid 8euros each for the breakfast,it was self service and only just warm.I went to the toasting area, picked up the bread which had blue mould on it.Took the 3 pieces to the lady on the counter and asked to speak to manager, who appeared dressed in jeans and scarf with sunglasses.Took the bread off me and removed the rest. After 5 mins brought a new tray of bread. He came over with waitress to apolagise and asked if i wanted a complimentry coffee!!!!!! I thought i had paid for breakfast, why would i want a "free"coffee. I then went to reception to complain and was told that she could not do anything or give me my money back as the dining was run by an outside catering company.I then started to insist that i speak to the manager. The assistant manager came,i explained everything, and his initial reply was that it wasnt anything to do with the hotel,it was an outside catering company.I replied "regardless of who serves food,it is the hotels responsability to ensure they know the standard of food being served under their roof".He said he would speak to them and came back to say we could have a refund. There was 3 of us but because my son and i were in one room and my friend in another we only got 16 euros back. The manager did offer me a complimentry drink at the bar,i had a "free" coffee the next morning. On the same morning, which was a Saturday there was hammer drilling coming from the hotel at 7AM,which woke us up.i called reception and they told me they would send security to investigate,it then stopped 5 mins later.Clearly no managerial communication,as who would autherise building work so early in a morning in a hotel. The manager told me it was a water leak emergancy, however the builders were there the day before,so i suspect a lie.if i am wrong then i appolagise. This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel, not even an iron and ironing board in the room! They certainly need to up thier game!
First impressions of this excellent hotel are impressive, up to 5 receptionists at any one time in an impressive marble reception hall. Our bedroom was on the sixth floor, with superb views over the Med. As long as you got up reasonably early, the buffet breakfast was well presented with first-class selections. Staff were always on hand to help in any way. An excellent choice of hotel, which I thoroughly recommend.
For the price we paid I pretended a far better room. They gave us the wrong room than they exchanged the room to a worse one. The flushing wasn’t working properly and the mattress wasn’t comfortable at all , i could feel the mattress spring in my back and it makes a-lot of noise. Did’t like anything about it! And it wasn’t cheap!
I stayed here with my partner for 3 nights during a time when our flight back to the UK was cancelled. A very nice hotel, clean rooms, nice staff and a decent breakfast to set you up in the morning which is served until 10am should you prefer a late start. Roof top pool looks nice but I didn’t swim on this occasion. Hotel is situated close to restaurants and the nightlife which we didn’t hear from our room.
Stayed in March for a 3 day business trip. A/C in room didn’t work, asked for an alternative and staff refused to move us stating that the heating is currently on. So have had to sleep with an open window with construction works starting outside every morning at 7am. Breakfast is grim even though we paid the extra for it have only used once and not returned. Cleaner was rude and tried to clean the room at 8.15am every day and was clearly irritated by being asked to come back later. Bathroom was clean and shower was nice and hot. Beds are OK and pillows comfortable. Paying 8 Euro for car parking facilities for our rental car per day ended up costing more than the car on a 3 day trip. Travel tip, don’t ask to use their irons, as they seem to be novelty relics that scorched shirt leaving it with a skid mark Jeremy Clarkson would have looked admirably. Overall, a cheap no frills hotel and one that I wouldn’t stay at for longer than 3 days. St Julian’s itself is grim, in the middle of the hustle and bustle. There are nicer areas to stay in Malta for a quiet break.
This hotel is in the heart of the party town, it was very cheap and cheerful, the rooms were very spacious and staff were at your disposal in any circumstances. Although we only stayed one night, it was exceptional.
Years ago was very very better than today. No kettle in our room, breakfast nothing special & no indications what is the food & others that I don't want to comment. I have written on the complaint form & no response.
Had a lovely few days in this hotel an couldn't fault it we had arrived the day before an actually left our original hotel an were delighted when we arrived at The Golden Tulip reception staff were lovely an made such a difference..Managed to get us into our room early, as we had, had a very stressfull night previously this was much appreciated.
