The hotel is located very close to the train station and the main shopping streets. The room was very nice and clean. The only downside there was no proper bar although drinks were available in the reception area.
The staff were all friendly, warm and unobtrusive. We were upgraded to a suite with a great view over Stortorget, a really comfortable bed and a great shower. Breakfast was wonderfully Swedish, including lingonberry jam, sourdough bread, Greve cheese and Senapssill (herring in mustard and dill sauce). I was in heaven! The location is smack in the centre of town, which is great if, like me, you're looking for bars and a general buzzing atmosphere. However, earplugs are offered free at reception! If you want a typically 'lagom' Swedish hotel in a great spot, go for the Scandic Stortorget!
Good location and a substitute for Scandic Kramer when it is fully booked, worn older hotel with comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. Quite okay breakfast and fantastic friendly staff, sauna broken but it was okay to go over to Kramer and use that one, unfortunately put it on yourself? (45 minutes to get up the heat). Parking directly outside the door
Located in historical downtown of Malmö. Just walking distance from train station or possibility to part in front the hotel in paid public parking. Refurbished and fresh room with high ceiling. Be careful if you get the room close side to neighbouring building of bar entrance with too loud music in the evening. I needed to change
I would have liked to give 3,5 points, better than average but less than very good. It goes down to one point, at reception. Scandic's reception is usually, by all international comparison, perfect; friendly, warm and welcoming. This time it was friendly enough but....the gentleman in the reception licked his fingers everytime before touching receipts or keys. This is very disgusting, I felt like needing to wash my hands in antiseptic fluid before touching anything else. That was the bad stuff, small but important. Now to the good things: My room was very nice, comfortable bed, TV with wide varietybof channels, free WiFi with just one clicks ckeck in (if you have been at any Scandic before) and excellent breakfast. Scrambled eggs better than Swedish average (4 out if 5). Location is right at the main square with lots of city pleasures; shopping and restaurants. Parking in the square, parking house available two blocks away. Walking distance (7-8 min) to the central train station. Taxis easily available. The Scandic Stortorget is located just 200m from the sibling Scandic Kramer. Both are in old style buildings and give a touch of history, although completely modern. I like Stortorget just a tiny bit more and expect the finger licking in the reception to be put to history next time. And my next stay in Malmö will be here. And thet will get a 5 if all other things match.
A group of us visited for 1 night from the UK, near to Christmas. The hotel rooms were reasonably priced given the hotel location and the time of year. The decor is has a boutique feel without trying too hard to be overly arty. Our visit didn't entail too much staff interaction but those that we did meet were very helpful and efficient. Good sized rooms with a decent shower room. No dedicated hotel bar area but you can get drinks in the dining/reception area. The location is amazing. Short walk from Central Station. Right on Stortorget Square with the Town Hall and also next to Lilla Torg with plenty of bars and restaurants. We must have walked 200m all night!
Cozy, clean, perfect. Just my type of hotel. I loved the suite, the present, the front desk. Everything SUper great. I stayed a couple of nights for Christmas. My daughter and friends stayed at the Scandic Kramer, 30 mts away. But we were getting toghether for breakfast in one or another indistinctly. I wish I could have stayed longer. We had to leave earlier due to the big storm Urd. For sure, I will stay here next time and I cannot recommend it more.
Went looking for somewhere to suit a group who wanted peace to talk. We found it. Beautifully quiet, attentive staff and very good food. Surprising to find a restaurant in Stortorget available and quiet on a Friday evening. Perfect
Travelling to Malmo on business and stayed for a night. Room was clean and comfortable but checking in took a while. Staff are friendly. They have a bar but only serve bottled beer. Location is good - 5 mins from station and close to plenty of restaurants. Decent breakfast and allowed a late check out without charge. Overall not bad if on a business trip but wouldn't stay for leisure.
Reception welcome makes one feel very welcome. They are service minded. The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast in served in the hotel restaurant and offers wide variatios also for people who had different food allergies.
