So this is our 4th visit in roughly 6 years, the only hotel we ever go back to. This trip however is our last sadly as the hotel has lost it’s way. For me it’s gone from feeling like a five star treatment to an low to average 4. From previous visits we loved the animation team, professional management staff, warm and welcoming feel of the place, but it’s changed. Most management are new and they don’t seem to be putting the same focus on what clients want. The hotel was not busy but we were put in a room opposite a conference room (Salle Olimpia) that was having redecorating work done. The paint fumes and drilling noises carried into our second day so we asked to be moved, which the management did quickly but then tried to defend why we were put there in the 1st place and said the work was only going to be for another day (implying maybe we should stick it out?!). Given that there was at most 50% occupancy why put guests in the affected rooms? The new animation programme doesn’t cater for children, this was during Easter holidays and the manager told my husband that it’s not school holidays in Mallorca so thats why. Except their client base is German, British, French and there’s at least 20 or so that are a lose end. We made our own entertainment but we paid a premium to be at this hotel, to relax while our son played boules, archery etc that he did before and it didn’t deliver. I’m not sure what’s going on with this hotel but it’s not what it was ... for families at least. The views are still stunning, rooms and communal areas clean, food very nice and location great but there’s thousands of those to chose from.
I was hesitant to book the hotel as the photos of the building look old and and seem like a place for mass tourism. The name 'Bonanza' didn't help with the decision too. Luckily, I decided to give the high rating some faith and went ahead to try it out for a 2-night stay. Everything turned out as what everyone has been raving about. in fact, we were already so pleasantly surprised with the warm welcome that we cancelled our night-stay in Palma and extended our stay here to 3 nights. The surroundings are amazing. We like that it is accessible, yet quiet and feel exclusive at the same time. The new Krystal restaurant is definitely worth a try. It gives us a classy break from the typical Spanish restaurants we have been sampling in our vacation on other locations. The staff are also indeed taking pride of their work. For example, Alberto from Krystal said to us 'I love my work'! That sums it all for the spirit of this hotel. We are definitely returning here! They do all the right things right!!
We selected the hotel on the very positive reviews in Tripadvisor well aware that it might be difficult for the hotel to live up to such high notes. In fact, it exceeded all our expectations. The hotell is modern and built with good taste. It is beatifully located by the sea. The staff is very friendly and service minded (it felt real and I think it was). The rooms were nice and functional with a magnificient view over rhe Palma bay. Meals were varied and good, the Krystal gastronomic restaurant excellent! The hotel manager said when she welcomed us that we will probably return and I think we will.
We stayed 6 nights, at presidential suite include half board. This season was so comfortable and good for take a rest. Every staffs are super kind and helpful. Especially "Pablo" at the restaurant was so Amazing!! I already miss his smile :) I definitely go back. -Room Every facilities are clean and perfect. Bed is so comfy and mini bar filled everyday. - Beach & Pool This hotel built at sea shore. On March, there was so windy and little bit cold. In the other hand, sun light so warm. Good for sun bating not for swim. Many people do the fishing. -Restaurant In this time, we only ate at the hotel restaurant. Breakfast was so good. Several menu we can eat. Dinner was super. They always offer rice(Paella or risotto), 2 kind of fish, seafood, 2 kind of meat, chicken or turkey. I enjoyed Gazpacho every dinner.
We stayed at this hotel for 3 days. Service was excellent from stepping in the lobby to check in. We were offered drinks while waiting to check in since we had arrived early. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. All the staff are amazing . Always smiling and helping. I had ask for ice one morning at breakfast, then at dinner one of the worker remembered my face and made sure i had some ice each and every single time. His names was Stefano. I was very please with his service. The ladies at the spa were amazing. This hotel is just excellent. I want to come back.
I’ve stayed at the Riu Bonanza Palace in Illetas four or five times now - it has become my favourite hotel on the island. The staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming and the facilities are more five star than four star. This trip was a mix of business and pleasure and although a little too chilly to lay by the pool the indoor spa with heated pool facility allowed for some R&R in between meetings. The room 509 was excellent and central to the building, directly looking out at the Med! The views out to sea are incredible at the this hotel and really give you a sense of calm after a full day in meetings. The food is as good as you would find in any five star hotel in the Ballerics. Although it was only the start of the season there was decent occupancy and friendly atmosphere mainly English, German and Swiss guests. I’ve recommend this hotel to many colleagues and friends and hope to try one of the suites when I return in May or June. Thanks everyone at Riu Bonanza Palace for making it a very relaxing base. we booked this as a package, the hotel room was really nice, big and spacious. bed was very comfy and balcony had enough space to sit and relax on it. the breakfast was really impressive a lot of choice of fresh and local products. we had lunch at the pool and here again the food was really good. around the hotel they are a few restaurants but not much open on a night. if you walk 15 minutes you reach a beach really nice and small. walking back is up the hill. you can take the bus to palma city direct in front of the hotel. we asked the staff and they were really helpful. best feature was the minigolf for free in the hotel. we loved the stay here would book it again.
This hotel is a 4 star to me as it has a few comfort issues. The sun beds are uncomfortable so you can't fully relax. The rooms are updated and adequate but we could hear all the goings on above and adjacent to us. The beds could be better but the rest was fantastic. Great pool and pool bar where you could enjoy a lovely lunch taking in the great views. There was definitely a personal touch and after a few days we got familiar with the staff who were very pleasant. The breakfast was all you would need and more. The diving area and gym are easy accessible for if anyone gets a bit bored. The location is great for having a stroll around but not many decent restaurants close by. You can easily get a taxi or a bus to other areas which are not that far away such as Palma, Andratx and Portal Nous. On the whole this hotel has a friendly feel, not to large so you get lost in it, good food, good location but lacks in the comfort aspects.
I do not give many hotels a five star review but it was easy to do so in this case. My partner and I stayed for a week in late October. The half board option was so little extra that we went for it on the basis that if we used it for just a night or two then it would be good value. After our first dinner on the first night we were so impressed that we never looked to go elsewhere. Breakfast is a very extensive buffet with everything you want even including Cava if you fancy an early buck's fizz or whatever. This is not a Premier Inn style buffet where stuff hangs around for ages once cooked - there are several chefs around preparing omelettes to order etc. Dinner is either an equally excellent buffet with an amazingly wide choice or else at no extra cost you can book into a small table service restaurant of near fine dining standards. In the buffet, it is possible to order a bottle of wine and if you do not finish it, they will if asked carefully label and seal it and return it to you the next evening. Many people do this so you don't feel like a cheapskate if you do. The hotel dates from the 1970s and is a functional rather than pretty building but it has been extensively modernised to a very high standard. Most of the rooms look out over the swimming pools, garden and sea and have balconies. They have been recently modernised and are exceptionally well thought out and comfortable. Bathrooms are at the back in an open plan arrangement but you can use a sliding door to separate the bath and bed areas if you wish. There is a large shower and a separate toilet cubicle. Plenty of storage space as well as a desk and comfy chairs. We often found a gift in our room - a box of chocolates or even a bottle of wine. There are two pools - one for quieter adult use though few children were staying at the time we went. Probably different in the school holidays. Nearly always a sunbed free if you want one and fresh beach towels provided. There is also access to the sea from the side of the hotel. What makes the real difference is the attitude of the staff. You are greeted personally on arrival by the manager who gives you her card in case you want to contact her. Just about all the staff had a great attitude to customer service and really seemed to enjoy their work. Many have been there for years and many guests (mostly from the UK and Germany) return year after year, though you are not in any way unwelcome as a "newcomer". It is hard to find any faults at all. The evening entertainment (generally MOR singers or bands) can be a bit noisy if your room is near it as ours was but it does end pretty promptly at 22.30 and so not a big problem. This is an exceptionally comfortable, well run and well located hotel which we also thought was good value for the quality of the rooms, facilities and food. We will almost certainly be back.
Nice amd clean resort. During my stay in early November it was fairly quiet but I guess in high season it can be very busy so not sure how well they cope with the crowds. Rooms were fine but this open plan bathroom idea might cause some issue to people. Still don't get the point of this design. Cleaning ladies tend to chat out loud in the early morning hours (8:00am) outside the rooms which is definitely annoying. However they do serve a good and rich variety of breakfast. All areas are clean and pool outdoor space very pretty. Location wise there is a bus stop just outside the hotel with buses going to Palna or a 15 minutes drive to Palma. They do have private parking but charge extra 10 euro per day. Overall a good place to stay and relax for a few days.
