Stayed here for one week from 27th March to 3rd April. The hotel is only about 4 minutes drive from Malaga Airport. The hotel is situated in the pleasant Malaga suburb of Guadalmar. It stands right on the beach.Check in is quick and easy ,anytime after 2.00pm.Reception staff are pleasant and helpful. They will book excursions for you-we were able to book a day trip to the Alhambra Palace in Grenada, through reception.Rooms are large and well appointed and all have balconies.Ours had a sea view over towards Torremolinos.Meals are buffet style and both breakfast and dinner are excellent. For lunch lunch we usually went to the small beachfront cafe "Maria Guiterezz".It is only a couple of minutes walk away on the Malaga side. The No.5 bus stops at the bus stop right outside the hotel and it will take you into Malaga city centre in about half an hour.It costs 1.30 Euros each way.All in all a very pleasant experience staying here!
My husband booked us into this hotel for the last night of our 3-week European vacation so we could relax before the long journey back to Canada. We arrived at 1:20pm and there was no problem getting an early check-in. We were thrilled to see that we had an ocean view balcony and, the way the hotel is situated, it felt like we were actually ON the ocean. There weren't many people around, so we wandered the grounds and strolled the sea walk. There's a nice bar/restaurant in front of the hotel on the beach. The outdoor pool looked clean and it would be a nice place to spend the day except it's March and still a bit too cool out! We had lunch in the restaurant and while my Caprese salad was delicious, my husband's ham & pineapple pizza was hard and flavourless. This is a man who never wastes food, but he just couldn't get it down. Having said that, the breakfast buffet is excellent with lots of food choices. The grounds are beautiful, the lobby is open, inviting and colourful, and the attached gym and indoor swimming pool are nice extras (not sure if there's an extra fee or not). A few negatives - 1) The safe is small and not big enough to hold a computer 2) The balcony door did not lock, but that didn't worry us as it would be difficult to get into the room from an adjoining balcony 3) There was a bolt missing from the toilet seat so one had to be very careful sitting down! We notified the front desk of this and #2 upon checkout and they said they would send a technician up to rectify the problems. 4) As it's near an airport, don't think about sleeping with the balcony door open to be lulled asleep by the waves. You'll hear planes taking off every few minutes. Once the door was closed though, it was quiet. 5) Hair conditioner isn't provided, so if you need it - pack it. The staff were pleasant and we really liked the look and feel of this place, and it served our purposes for one night. The Wifi was good as well.
Nice reception on our late arrival. The restaurant was still open and we had a good diner (buffet, with a cook baking steaks/fish). The hotel looks dated on the outside but they redecorated with a modern touch. Clean bathroom, thick towels, nice amenities. The curtains need to be renewed. They're very old. Suggestion to the management: please fix the hotelroomdoors. They only close with a slamming noise. The breakfastroom is bright and the breakfast is excellent. Lots of fresh fruit and eggs. Excellent transfer to Malaga city, only 30 minutes to the center of the town. On our way there a group of flamenco singers/dansers took a ride and made some music for us. Nice surprise! The chairs near the pool are good. Last but not least: great free WiFi!
Very comfortable room with a balcony and sea view. The hotel is in between Malaga and Torremolinos so a car is fairly essential to get around. The outdoor pool was closed in February although we used the sun loungers, so we used the indoor pool. Needed to buy bathing caps! Gym and Spa were extra cost. Restaurant was great for breakfast but not so good for dinner. Buffet style and the main course was not very good - eat out, lots of restaurants in town.
I stayed here with my sister in December. The hotel lobby & bar are quiet nice. The room was spacious & relatively clean. I'm afraid the negatives most definitely outweighed the positives. When housekeeping 'cleaned' our room they took our towels but did not replace them. I rang reception twice & had to go down in person to try & get clean towels. The staff were incredibly rude & told me he towels were on he way. We waited over an hour. I eventually walked the corridors looking for housekeeping & had to take towels from the service trolley. The gym was tiny & there was an extra €5 per use. The indoor pool was tiny & not very clean. The area itself is very quiet with nothing to do. The beach beside the hotel is horrible (see photo). You have to get a bus to Malaga for anything & they are constantly late.
The hotel is generally alright. The room and the facilities were average. The breakfast was really nice especially the scrambled eggs. Unfortunately I didn't realise how far out of malaga it is. Without a car the only option is a 45minute bus which is just disgusting and depressing when you're supposed to be on holiday, I felt like a commuter. The hotel is very close to the airport but the taxis have a flat rate of 19€ each way for a 7minute journey which negates the point. The indoor pool is free to use but you need to spend 4€ on a swimming hat for some reason. There is a sauna/jacuzzi but you need to pay 15€ per person per day to use it and it looked pretty grimy. The outdoor pool is freezing but may be a good temperature in hotter months. The tennis court was good but the net is loose and can only be adjusted with a rusty wire contraption. There are three surrounding restaurants, nothing particularly inspirational but generally fine for an evening meal. Overall, if you have a one night stopover then I would consider this place but otherwise I wouldn't stay here for a holiday unless you get a very good deal and rent a car.
We have stayed here whenever flying into and out of Malaga - a dozen times in the last 6 years. We have always liked the position on the beach and near the airport, the size of the rooms and the view, and the breakfast buffet - but have felt that the staff were often indifferent and slow. But this time we have nothing but praise for everyone, in reception, the restaurant, and on the cleaning team. There has been a remarkable change in their attitude to their job. Please keep it up !
The breakfast is excellent, the room is great but only the beds could have bee a bit better. Indoor swimming pool has limited hours and in the area there is not too much to do. Bus in front of the hotel to Malaga is very convenient.
Where do I even start. I'm not quite sure why anyone would stay at this hotel, hopefully this review will help people to make up their minds. Before even arriving at this hotel I had issues; they charged me twice for the same booking and refused to give me a refund. Spoke to customer service and they were quite understanding and agreed that it was thier error and I should email the relevant details to the refund team but I received quite a rude response explaining the room was non refundable, even though it was thier mistake. Currently disputing the charge with my credit card company. Anyway let me get on with the actual review of the hotel itself. The lobby was nice but that's about it, the older guy on reception was rude and unhelpful, the rooms were large but horrible. Hardly any lighting, very outdated decor, no pictures or wall art or anything. Basically just a undecorated room. The fan/heater was so dusty and when turned on the dust came flying out. Weird noises coming from the bathroom pipes and at night there were people screaming and slamming doors. The location of this hotel is extremely remote, linked to Malaga central by the number 5 bus which only runs every 40 minutes or so and takes around 30 minutes to reach the city centre. Not sure who this hotel would suit but there seemed to be quite a few older gentlemen, perhaps staying for business purposes as this hotel is close to the airport. Didn't use the pool as it wasn't the season for it but there was mud and dirt all in the bottom of it. Beach was all black for some reason and even if the weather had been nice, we probably still wouldn't have used the beach facilities at all. My advice: avoid staying at this hotel, there are much better hotels out there. Not only would I not stay here but wouldn't stay at any other hotels in the Tryp chain.
I booked this hotel on the basis that it had an indoor pool and a gym. At no point in the booking did it say you could not swim in the pool unless you wear a swimming cap ( at a cost of €5 ) and that the gym cost £5 per person per day to use. I would never have booked this and I would never have stayed here. I can understand swimming hats for people with long hair but not short hair and I have hardly any hair! What an utter rip off. This explains why all the facilities were empty. So disappointed!
