URSO Hotel & Spa5.0 out of 5.0

Let's get the only negative first- it is a bit out of the way- with very few restaurants in the immediate area. This is an older hotel- with vintage elevator- completely redone- to a warm and very comfortable level. On check in- you are offered a free drink- not just any old thing- but the ability to go to their wonderful bar- and get a beautifully made craft cocktail. The room- very comfortable- bright lighting- quiet - large bathroom. An interesting spa ( which you can use without paying a fortune for a spa treatment) with many different jets to relax after sightseeing- and good lounge chairs. A very complete buffet breakfast - with kind and helpful service. Yes- you have to save five stars for the Ritz- but except for location- you don't give up much here for half the price.
URSO Hotel is a hip and chic trendy hotel in the heart of the Spanish capital Madrid. Despite having every thing within walking distance it is nice and quiet. The service and staff is amazing all the way from the Concierge to the House keeping. We got a wonderful high ceiling suite with state of the art modern interior design and being spacious which makes you feel at home. Happy to check in again at this hidden pearl in the heart of Madrid on my next visit...
A superb hotel with great attention to detail throughout. The staff are great and the building is beautiful. A private roof terrace too for our room too. Cannot fault. Breakfast a little on steep side but worth it
We loved staying at Urso last year. So when we decided to visit Madrid again this year we did not hesitate to go back to Urso. It is a beautiful hotel with clean room, comfy bed and friendly staff. We also like the location as it is close to a train station (Madrid has a good metro system so it is easy to get around) and many restaurants and cafes nearby. Just one comment - I wish they provide a kettle in the room. Urso will provide a hot water whenever you need it, promptly. It's Urso so they provide a superb service. But some people like to have a sip of hot water in the middle of night when they wake up to have some warm water or herbal tea. I know I can call the reception and they will call the kitchen to deliver a hot water to the room but in the middle of night you just want some hot water without the hassle of asking someone. I know it is their policy but it felt it was impractical at times. But we liked Urso like last time and we would go back to Urso next time we stay in Madrid.
We were visiting our daughter who was living in Madrid and spent a long weekend at Urso. We had a good room albeit looking into the hotel next door so be careful! The room was very well appointed and of a good size with two comfortable chairs to sit rather than perching in the bed. Nespresso machine a plus. Bathroom and accompaniments of a very good standard although we had problems with the shower door. We ate breakfast once over the five days. It was fine but nothing out of the ordinary and rather pricey. On the other hand, the hotel restaurant is first class. It serves modern tapas at a good price and has a very good wine list. You must book as it is open to the general public and when we tried to return it was fully booked before noon! The staff are fantastic and very helpful. For those that don't speak Spanish they will book restaurants for you and provide recommendations too. They also sell tickets for the Prado. Strongly recommend you get them from the hotel. The hotel is located a 15 minute walk from the centre of Madrid and the museums. On the way to the museums there are a number of less touristy bars, cafes and shops. We will stay there again.
To me, the sign of a good hotel is their attention to detail and while the urso was lovely, someone forgot to tell the designer the streets around the hotel are noisy ALL NIGHT and to put in some triple glazed glass. No joke, there were screaming bar crowds outside my 3rd floor room until 6am and I didn't sleep a wink. I spend about 70 nights a year in hotels and this was the loudest night I have ever experienced. Note: I live on a busy Manhattan avenue with a subway under my ground floor apartment so it's not like I'm asking for middle of the woods quiet in the center of the city. When I mentioned it to the front desk clerk, he told me he'd never heard that complaint. Either it is his first day or he isn't being truthful. quite frankly at nearly $400 a night, I'm am not amused. On the plus side, the shower was powerful and hot. If you want to actually sleep when you stay at a hotel, I'd pass on this one, or insist on a quiet room.
Stayed at this hotel for one night with my husband and three year old daughter. They were so nice for upgrading us to a two bedroom suite located on the ground floor. The staff was wonderful – they were very helpful and warm. I wanted to try the spa, luckily enough they had one cancellation and I had a facial. It was very relaxing. They also offer a valet parking which is convenient - for €22 per night. We also enjoyed the chic lobby, I noticed a lot of cool people having cocktails after work.
Beautiful hotel, stunningly decorated with very well equipped rooms in an excellent location. Bed was so comfortable and air conditioning in rooms very easy to manage. Excellent staff, always ready to help. The spa was clean, modern and relaxing. Best hotel I have ever stayed in.
This hotel is located at a nice neighborhood, the rooms have high ceilings are nicely decorated. The Hotel has a nice Spa, including a pool (heated, but water was not hot). Boutique style, you wont find anything nicer in Madrid, maybe The Only You, but it will be still an excellent choice. Breakfast is also "boutique", in a small cozy place, looking as a winter garden. Not many choices, but everything was good.
This hotel has everything you could want, great location, great decor but best of all were the staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, nothing was a problem. From the warm welcome at reception, the staff at breakfast each morning to the smiling team doing the evening turndown service, oh and not to forget the smiles from the guys at the front door. We stayed 6 nights and nobody put a foot wrong. We would happily return to the URSO next time we are in Madrid without hesitation.
