Hallo, Is there a hair-dryer in the badroom? Or should I take one of my hair-dryer at the holidays? Thank you Hallo, Is there a hair-dryer in the badroom? Or should I take one of my hair-dryer at the holidays?
We spent three nights, one in the third floor (without elevator) facing a quiet courtyard and two in room 201, facing the street. The first night on the third floor was good, very quiet. The room is clean but very small. The bathroom is tiny and the shower is run down, mixture of shower cabinet and plastic shower curtain. The last two nights were a disaster. We were very unlucky to have two girls on the room next door with loud music until 01.00 and up at 08.00 with music again and talking loudly. The walls are very thin and one can hear everything. Also facing the street is not the best...and it was not a weekend ! Other than that, the location is really good (if you don't mind a couple of ladyboys and prostitutes a few meters away from the entrance). One minute to Gran Vía, 5 minutes to Malasaña... The people at the reception were all very friendly to us.
The hostel is nice and central which is great for a city trip with lots of sightseeing and to visit bars and restaurants. I booked a single room with own bathroom. Its small (as expected) with a nice bed. The room has A/C which can be regulated individually. The room is clean. Towels are changed daily (one day I had one with make-up leftovers from someone else which wasn't so cool). The keys have to be left at the reception (there is someone 24/7), you cant take them with you. The person at the reception are very kind and helpful, e.g. with check-in: gave me a map and some tips and showed me the room and how wifi & A/C works (without asking). There is no lift. Reception on first floor, my room was then on third floor. Fine for me ;) The area around the hostel might not be everyones taste with the prostitutes (who ignore you) and sex shops. But if you dont mind this, the area is ok. And you'll find this north Gran Via and on the street as well.
We don't want to recommend this hostal for no one. Service s awfully and it's om a street there is hookers, people selling drogs. The service and comunication with the staff was awful. The pictures of the hostal it's only fake
This is a real little gem tucked away in a funky area close to Sol. It is difficult to find, the rooms (ensuite) are a little small, byt hey, who wants to stay in a hotel room in Madrid! It's within easy walking distance of food, bars and cafes and shops, shops, shops! The staff are super friendly and helpful. There is no elevator so stairs it is. Altogether a pleasant place we have returned to time and time again.
Could not fault Stad Madrid. Rooms were very clean. Close to the centre of Madrid easy walk . The staff were extremely helpful despite limited English and my even more limited Spanish. Would use again for another visit. Thank you for an enjoyable visit
Stayed here as one of our honeymoon stops in Spain. Upon check in we were helped by Cesar and we continued to go to him with any questions we had. Cesar was very insightful and was a lot of help through out our time in Madrid. The area we stayed in was recently renovated so everything was new and clean. We chose the private double room with a bathroom, there was a small television and A/C. Hostel is located in the Chueca neighborhood and walking distance from Gran Via station.
i would call Stad Madrid a good hostel instead of hotel. Its a little bit hard to find - just remember the house number. Rooms big enough for a city break - third level room bathrooms not always have hot water - we needed to change room. The streetside rooms are noisy - especially in the morning when party people are going home. The positive side of the hostel is the location - five minutes from gran via, all the tourist sights are maximum 15 minutes walk away. Great shops and restaurants around. Easy access to Madrid Airport.
Even though we kind of enjoyed our stay here, we wouldn't want to come back again. To start with the Hostal is very difficult to find. There is no sign or directions anywhere so we found the Hostal by coinsidence because the lady we asked for directions had to be there herself. Secondly we think the area is very, very noisy. We were staying in a room at the front (roadside) where the windows could not be completely closed. We were lacking of sleep because of contructionbuilders, drunk folks and so on. Next to that everytime the main entrance door on our floor closed, our own door shattered like crazy which made us jump out of our beds all the time, thinking someone came bursting in. Last but not least the cleaning is below average. We stayed for 5 days and the room didn't get cleaned since we arrived. We only received some clean towels which makes us understand why we were sneezing our entire stay in StadMadrid, it's dusty and not clean at all. A very positive thing about this place is the location, you have almost everything within walking distance.
This one star hotel is cheaper than most of the ordinary hostels I have checked. THe important thing it's NEW (Or it seems so) and CLEAN (which is the most important factor to me). There are little soaps at the bathroom and clean towels as well. I spent there one night in a triple with private bathroom during Tourism International workshop. It is 1 min from Grav Via, from a metro station. However it is a bit difficult to find, we were so tired and were looking for it half an hour going up and down with the luggage. The staff in the reception is nice and helpful. The only thing I didnt like about the hotel was that It is situated in 3 different floors, and there is no lift, so I had to carry my heavy suitcase all alone to the thrid floor. But if U come with the small one then there is no problem. I would definitely choose this one again! Fully recommended.
