The lobby area is quite lovely and the room itself is very nice for the price. However it’s 90 degrees in here I’m sure and the “view” is horrible, particularly compared to the pictures of the view the hotel posts. Very disappointed.
---No information at check in about hotel (breakfast, bar..)...low wifi...no kettle available...rooms need some refreshment...old and uncomfortable mattress...poor soundproofing. +++Very good location ( you can easily walk to gran via and puerta del sol)...clean room...well done housekeeping everyday
Nice hotel in Madrid, bit out from city centre. Lot of lovely little details. Reception personnel was mainly lovely. Room we had was very recular with double bed. Not the best bed I've been sleeping but for 3 nights was fine. Very thin walls between rooms! You were able to hear even sneeze from next room AND the use of toilet..
Conde Duque is a wonderful hotel on a fine plaza on the west side of Madrid. You will not be near the hoards of tourists at most of the hotels on the Castellana, near the Prado or on the Gran Via. This is a residential neighborhood on Princesa near Moncloa and Metro Quevedo. Spanish people live here. This is worth the extra 2 miles from Barajas. You can easily walk to the Templo Debod, Parque del Oeste, Plaza de Espana, Estacion del Norte and more. Nightlife is close meaning at Plaza 2 de Mayo and Malasana. Supermarkets, bars and restaurants abound in walking distance. Have fun!
We had our doubts as to the hotel's proximity to the center of town, but we were pleasantly surprised. There's a metro stop only 2 blocks from the hotel, with direct access to "Puerta del Sol", a short train ride away. At the kiosk next to to the entrance where one can purchase a 10-ride metros ticket, which can be shared by multiple people. Additional trips can be added (to a maximum of 10) at machines in the metro stations. The staff is friendly, the lobby quaint and inviting. The rooms are a decent size with the amenities one would expect for the price (soaps, hairdryer etc.), but did not have a coffee machine. Breakfast was very good. There are many stores nearby, including mercado's. Even though we (2 couples) entertained ourselves in the city center, there are plenty restaurants in the hotel vicinity (there's a Chinese next door). We arrived early in the morning from the US and to our great surprise were able to go to our room before 10.00am, without incurring an additional charge. Great show!!!!! We recommend this hotel.
Airbnb put me up here when there was a problem with a host canceling my stay an hour before arrival. It was a long flight and day, so it was nice to finally arrive some where so I can shower and rest. This place was surprisingly nice. It was in an ideal location, just a couple of blocks to the Metro, and busy area full of shops and restaurants, but the hotel it self is located on a quiet block across from a little park. The hotel was very clean and nice for a boutique hotel. The suite was nicely appointed with Nespresso maker, water and what you need to relax ie. Robe etc. The HUGE jet tube was a really nice surprise, So I was able to take a really nice hot bath with the jets going full blast to relax my back that was twisted into a pretzel on the plane. The front desk was very helpful in assisting me where to go to eat etc.
Great location, near parks clean rooms, friendly staff Food was great breakfast was included. Rooms were adequate the decor was very classy. The lobby was very inviting. The bar was nice. They had laundry facilities
Stayed 2 nights bed & breakfast with my daughter and we both loved every minute of our stay, checking in was quick and the guy who checked us in was very informative and we both felt at ease. The room was great and overlooked the lovely square. Breakfast was plentiful and all staff we met were lovely they always had a smile. Loved the location 15 mins walk to the main shopping area and plenty of restaurants and cafes close by. Really enjoyed Madrid and would definitely stay at this hotel again
We first stayed at Sercotel Conde Duque three years ago and loved it. The location is ideal - an easy metro ride to the center of the city. The hotel staff is helpful, efficient, and professional, and rooms are comfortable. The hotel has an "old world charm" - and is clean, with a comfortable bar area. We returned a few weeks ago, staying one night at the beginning of our trip, and four nights at the end. The incessant barking from the dog park just steps away from the hotel made this stay very stressful, however. Neither my husband nor I recall the dog run being there during our 2014 stay. Sadly, we will not return as long as the barking issue exists.
Sercotel Gran Hotel is a grand hotel in the center of Madrid with a pakt just outside the door and good restaurants just around the corner (within a 5 minute walk). Easy to walk to many of the city's sights due to its central location. Comfortable beds, showers with plenty of hot water and strong pressure. Good breakfast with plenty of options. Helpful staff to give you eating and touring options.
