I chose this hotel because of the reviews and it was great. The room is clean, staff are very helpful and accommodating. The hotel is very well located 5 minutes walk from the shopping area. Everything is in walking distance. Laundry, shopping, restaurants and tourist attraction.
Moved from Room Mate Anna in Barcelona and chose Laura because of the chain. This is rated only three stars so I should not have had the same expectation. Sadly it did disappoint. The photos indicate a much more modern hotel. It's actually very old and decorated to look better. We were given the Penthouse. Large. Separate bedroom but with a ceiling that causes angst every time you need to Get in and out of bed. Not for a person with a back or mobility problem. It's position is its asset. Lugging large cases up 6 or so very large steps was a challenge for our age. It's clean. The front desk staff especially Manuela is their best asset. She was working flat out on her own with a Que at the desk. Offered to help her. While I loved Anna in Barcelona I'm afraid Laura you didn't come close. Should have done better research as I'd like to have ended my 6 week holiday on a high. Don't always judge by photos.
Really loved their room. We were offered a duplex apartment. Very stylish and contemporary. Their service was also excellent, they were always willing to help us. Would definitely recommend this place. Keep up the good work guys :)
Nice hotel, clean & walking distance to most sites. Staff was amazing. So helpful & had great recommendations on restaurants, things to do & how to get there. Would try another room mate hotel in another city based on my experience here. They also give you a portable hot spot so we had free wifi wherever we went. That was EXTREMELY helpful!
Excellent central location within easy walking distance of museums, art galleries, restaurants, shops etc. Rooms a bit different but in a nice way (we had a mezzanine sitting area). Clean and modern. Unusually for Europe there was even a kettle. Not much of a view since it is in a narrow back street but good for people watching. Buffet breakfast very good, lots of choice, orange juice freshly squeezed, decent coffee. Helpful front desk -provided a pocket sized device that gave us wi-fi access throughout the city, booked a flamenco show for us.
We stayed for 4 nights in this small and charming hotel. The room is a little small but nice there is a small kitchen but you really do not nead it in the heart of madrid. Breakfest is very good and the staff is helpfull and friendly. We will come back.
The location is great. the hotel is located in the peaceful plaza San Martin, which is just in the middle of plaza Del sol, plaza Mayor and the royal palace. just one minute from the grand via street. all around there are restaurants and shopping options. the hotel itself has a fun and modern design and the room was big and clean. the staff was very pleasant and helpful. they gave us a free WiFi to take with us during our stay. the breakfast was nice also. thank you
The hotel is a bit out of the way but near enough to Plaza Mayor and Mercado de San Miguel. I upgraded to a suite which was very nice, but some reviewers were right to point out the water treatment smell coming out of the bathroom. After a day, I got used to it but I certainly didn't feel happy paying for an upgrade to a room with a smelly toilet. Everything else was fantastic. The bed was super comfortable. There's a microwave. And I loved the skylights. The staff are very nice and professional, and the manager welcomed me personally upon check in. I'd probably stay out of Old Madrid next time, but this was a lovely stay. I also appreciated the portable wifi on loan from the hotel.
The staff was extremely helpful and went out of their way to make our stay at the hotel fantastic. They have other nice touches such as providing guests with wifi hotspots when travelling around the city. Also gave some great restaurant recommendations.
From the first impression to the last we were blown away. After a 10 hour flight delay as soon as we came in it was heaven. The general manager personally came out to meet us and when he heard of our terrible day we were instantly upgraded free of charge...to the penthouse. The bed was so comfy, the decor gorgeous. Little touches that the lady at reception made such as booking out transport for the following day, printing our flight boarding passes, giving us free portable wifi so we didn't get lost...made the world of difference. There were also kind gestures throughout the room such as welcome packs, sweets and hand written notes from the staff and cleaner welcoming us. Apart from everything else the location is also perfect. So glad we stayed here and we are staying with the same group in Barcelona later in our trip. 100% we would stay here agin and in fact we wouldn't stay anywhere else in Madrid.
