we've stayed for 3 nights in this hotel this spring. you can feel STRANGE smell as you enter in the hotel lobby. they said that we can check in earlier , but we had to wait for 4 hours for our room. there was not free bottle of water in the room, no coffee or tea , just minibar. very poor breakfast , we used to have breakfast outside , because of that. unfriendly staff. it is really difficult to for hotel employees to understand English. rooms are not wide enough for such a lot furniture. also you better take rooms with balcony, to have normal view, because rooms without balconies have view on the staircase. i had a view on street and good for me :) the only benefit of this hotel is location. 2 minute walking distance from Gran Via.

We stayed for 7 nights in April. The hotel is in a central location with good access to Metro and bus routes. It is only around 10-15 mins from the Royal Palace, Opera and La Latina areas - all walkable distances. The rooms are a decent size - we were in 212 -at the back of the hotel, looking out to apartments/hotel next door, it was a clean, quiet room. I have read negative comments about the breakfast - yes it is basic - 3 assorted ham, cheese, pastries, cereal, yoghurts and fruit - but that is what a continental style breakfast is. We thought it was no worse than other hotels we have stayed in but admit it could be improved. However, it sets you up for a good start to the day. The conseirge at the main reception desk are a credit to the hotel, welcoming, informative and patient (when you try to speak - very poor Spanish!) we always felt they took an interest in what our plans were for the day. I know this is a British thing but the addition of tea/coffee facilities in the rooms would be a great idea as there don't appear to be any areas in the hotel where you can access drinks outside of breakfast hours. If we returned to Madrid we would definitely stay here again.

Very nice, modern hotel in the centre of Madrid that is a gem in this bustling city. Walking distance to most major sights. Rooms are good size and quiet. Breakfast is available and is value for money for the variety offered. The hotel staff were very helpful.

The hotel is situated a few minutes walk from the Santo Domingo metro station. Very clean hotel and the staff are very friendly. Our room was a family room which was very spacious and was street facing but I didn't notice as there was hardly any noise. We did not have breakfast at the hotel as I had read previous reviews of this not being of a very good standard (obviously I cannot confirm this or deny). We went to the Market Cafe next door which serves a great variety of foods and is open 24 hours.

We stayed at the Hotel Sterling for two nights in February. The rooms (one double, one twin) were both modern and clean, with good sized bathrooms. The beds were comfortable; the linen and towels were clean and fresh. Both rooms had balconies with outdoor furniture, which was a nice touch. No facilities to make tea or coffee, but that's not unusual. The central location was excellent for sightseeing. The hotel didn't have a bar but being so close to so many other local bars, it didn't matter. If you're looking for luxury, this isn't for you. But if you're after somewhere well situated, good value, clean and comfortable to come back to after a day's tapas-eating, sangria-drinking and sight-seeing, then this is a great option!

We stayed in a three bedded room at the Sterling Hotel. We found the room ample in size and very clean with shower gel and shampoo together with a hairdryer. There was a mini bar together with a few snacks which we didn't use at all, but handy to have a fridge during the hotter months. The only down side of the hotel, was that we found it very noisy at night with because it was on a main road. It was in an ideal spot for shopping and seeing all the sites and there were three close metro stations, which was very easy to get around the centre. We had tickets to see Real Madrid and we found it very easy to get to and from the stadium and soak up the atmosphere as it was very busy. The breakfast had the usual, cheese, ham, meat, bread, cakes, fruit and cereal and was well stocked as there was a turnover of customers all the time, especially over a weekend. All the staff were very helpful and the reception staff even phoned through to reserve a table at a restaurant that had been recommended to us. We would stay at the Sterling again if we were to go to Madrid again.

We stayed at the Sterling as part of a two day trip to see Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Three star, well appointed in the theatre area of the city and very close to two Metro stations (which you'll need as the city is huge!). The neighbourhood had a number of 'Saunas' near the hotel but we felt perfectly safe, even returning around midnight. Spotlessly clean, comfortable beds and quiet, which was all we needed for our one night stay. We had Room Only but found a lovely bakery and coffee shop for breakfast which did awesome croissants - turn right out of the hotel and it is about 150m on the other side of the road. Would not hesitate to stay there again if we were doing another trip

Booked this hotel cheap and cheerful. Room and bathroom spotlessly clean. Not a great view from our window but not an issue as we were only in the room to sleep. All hotel staff were curtious friendly and hotel is ideally located for exploring this beautiful city. Breakfast was fine. Typical continental. Nothing to get excited about but got what we paid for so no complaints. Would recommend this hotel for a long week end to anyone.

This hotel was the best. Great location! so close to Gran via and the subway in order to get around Madrid. Everything is so close, loads of food places, smoothie places, a variety of all the foods you could think of, starbucks and millions of shops! The subway was easy to get to and easy to understand if you can download the maps on your phone to tell you which lines go where. This will also tel you if you need to get off and change over at any location. The hotel was clean and warm. The beds where comfy and breakfast was continental but for the price we paid we where very happy with our two night stay. would defo come back again.

Good location, only 3 minutes walk from Gran Via, San Domingo metro station, and Callao metro very near. Friendly and helpfull staff, clean rooms every day housekeping. No kettle for tea or coffe facilities.
