We took the metro from the airport, and unfortunately for us the hotel was not easy to locate. We arrived late in the evening and the desk clerk gave us our room, which was ADA. We went back down to ask clerk for a different room, he said they were fully booked and to return the following day. It was late, so we made do with what we had. The beds were uncomfortable and really sunk in the middle. The air did not work in our room, so we opened the window. One morning, as we were walking out the lobby, I said good morning to the desk clerk. I received no response. Overall, I think there are better hotels to stay.
We stayed at the Hotel Sterling from Feb 1-4 and can say that we would not return or recommend to others. One great thing was we arrived early and a room was ready, the staff who was working was pleasant. The room to us was not worth the price we paid. The bed was terrible, old and uncomfortable and the heater was very noisy. The hotel smelt terrible which was a huge turn off. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel. The other big complaint was the one night staff who was so rude. He did not listen when spoken to and was just rude when responding to questions, however the other staff we great. The location was the best part of this hotel
Entrance to hotel had a strange smell and this was in the hotel room also. Not an over powering smell, but not a nice one either. Didn't have breakfast so cant comment. Parking is a nightmare and had to pay 20 euros for overnight. But it is in a great location in the city centre - so you can't have both. Plenty of places to eat out and drink. Lifts worked fine and room was very clean. No english channels on the tv though.
Friends of ours stayed in this central hotel and were very happy with the deal. They said it was great value for money and would not hesitate in returning. The room was large, clean and bright despite having an interior view.
Definitely recommend this hotel. Walking distance to just about all of the highlights of historical Madrid. Comfortable beds! Typical European breakfast with very good coffee. Front desk staff very helpful. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.
I traveled to different cities in Spain as part of a university excursion and language immersion program. Hotel Sterling was a great place to stay to visit the city. Rooms a little small, but they were clean. I did not have much interaction with staff. We had an good breakfast.
Nice hotel in the gran via area. Centrally located to all amnetties hotel. And staff are very friendly. Will definitely recommend for any tourist, backpacker or student. I wish I could've stayed longer in the hotel.
Stayed here for 5 nights. The hotel was excellent. The rooms were very clean & spacious. Staff extremely helpful and spoke English. Location only 1 - 2 minutes walk from the Grand Via and very centtral on the Grand via near the galeria and shopping areas. most tourist attractions are within anything from 10 - 20 -30 minutes walk from here. There are plenty of bars and restaurants neer by. Would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again
Stayed for 6 nights here and couldn't be happier. Walking distance to Gran Via and Noviciado Metro. A minimal but sufficient breakfast is included, in the basement area. The staff is really courteous and helpful. We found them to be quick and responsive, unlike some of the other hotels around. Worth every penny.
Check in and check out was confusing. Extra charge to hire a kettle €5 Euros take your on cups and coffee as none given. Room allocated to us was the tiniest dullest room on 2nd floor It was dark, very poor natural light and I couldn't wait to drop off bags and go out. Location of hotel was excellent, didn't do breakfast had a look and decided pastry shop opposite side of road looked more appealing. It lacked a bar or outside seating and therefore it's a good two star hotel at the best.
