Hotel Ritz

We recently stayed at this hotel and enjoyed it immensely. The staff were exceedingly professional and courteous, attending to our needs quickly and efficiently. The rooms are very comfortable with gorgeous washrooms. The only issue we experienced (and it is a very minor one) were the door locks. Old-fashioned keys are very quaint but our exterior door was very difficult to open and the closet doors kept locking when we closed the closets and it was a constant struggle to open them. The door locks could use an upgrade. We should have informed the front desk but felt it was so minor, we didn't want to complain. Make sure you have a meal on the terrace or at least an evening drink - absolutely lovely!! Location of this hotel is excellent - literally across the street from the Prado Museum. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

We recently stayed for 3 nights at this property. I had looked forward to experiencing "The Ritz" however the hotel was just ordinary. The best part was the very pleasant doormen. The room was small and needed to be updated, the carpet was stained and the walls were well marked. While the public lobby areas was nice, it made it even more disappointing once you got to your room with it's worn decor. I think there must be better accommodation available in Madrid for $450+ Euros a night.

Very little to say about this amazing place. Awesome staff, beautiful ambiance, and really nice setup. I think that you get much more of what you pay for! Plus you're smacked downtown!!! Really awesome. On the side, at the check out today the clerk that was dealing with some annoying guest deserved at least a medal! 😊. Amazing job.

The hotel is beautiful and in a fantastic location. The lounge and reception area are elegant. The staff was friendly and breakfast was delicious. Our room was a nice size, very quiet but it was also a little dated. The keys didn't work right and the air con was a hit and miss. But overall, we would recommend this place and I would stay here again.

Our 3rd stay within a year at Ritz went smoothly as hotel is well organized and the staff is most attentive and pleasant. I love this hotel for it's history, opulent decor, prime location and truly lovely staff. We always feel like coming home to Ritz, regular guests are treated like VIP's. I value safety very high and security at Ritz is top class too, guards and door men always around to look after guests ( and a possible intruder ). This time our room category was upgraded, we really appreciated it, thank you. Hotel is starting to show it's age in some parts but for the most part it is immaculate clean and still very grand. If you like historic landmark hotels Ritz is the place for you in Madrid. I am anxiously waiting for the renovation, excited to see the results and will definately stay there again after everything is finished. Hopefully there will be roof top rooms with terrace and jacuzzis.

Was here 19 years ago. Hasn't changed, literally. Room smells like smoke, carpets old, stuff broken, and property just tired. Staff was excellent and friendly - this negative review is 100% about the physical plant and our disappointment therein b.c the location is outstanding and zero reason this shouldn't have a renovation that meet high expectations. Won't stay here again until they renovate.

The Ritz hotel in Madrid is a marvellous hotel, with an amazing location, and an exquisite staff providing excellent service, but the long time ago announced refurbishment just does not seem to happen. The hotel common areas and rooms are splendid, but slowly seem to lose their shine and it is clear that a thorough refurbishment could give this "Grande Dame" its past lustre back. And if we can dream a little, why not a rooftop pool and spa in the future, like most hôtels of this level in Barcelona. The terrace of the Goya restaurant is probably just the best place to dine or have breakfast in Madrid. So, if I have to return to Madrid in the near future, I will probably return to the Ritz, even if the refurbishment has not happened yet.

Although older, the Ritz a nice hotel in most every way. The staff is helpful and the food is good. Had a minor issue in the restaurant where the order never arrived, even though I said I was in a rush. Seems the staff is toggling between indoor and outdoor dining options. Could use a pool.

Old hotel in a great location in Madrid---near the Prado and Thyssen Museums. Concierge was very helpful. Room was really tiny and no view. We had two rooms as we were travelling with our adult children. Joined the hotel's Mandarin Oriental club. Despite that no upgrade offered. I mean this was a TINY room. I often stay in historic hotels but this was really tiny. Did I mention it was a tiny room? Staff varied from friendly to snooty sour puss faced. Checked out after a two room 3 day stay > $2,000 and they did not even ask how our stay was---I guess they feel they are above that. An obvious VIP showed up at the breakfast with gym shorts and a sweat covered T shirt and was seated with a smile and catered to like royalty. Honestly I would skip this hotel and try others.

Our stay at the Ritz Madrid was perfect. The courteous and professional staff, front desk, concierge and housekeeping made our vacation extra special. We enjoyed the fabulous Sunday brunch in the garden and had great drinks at the hotel bar. So many wonderful sites are within walking distance or a short ride by car. I look forward to returning to continue many more wonderful memories!
