We booked this for its location. Really close to the walls of Lucca. Also needed parking, which it has. Good points Has a bar, though you have to ask the desk for service. Check out the glass size for processo! Breakfast is good. Bad points. Rooms are tiny with hardly any storage. Bathroom no where to put stuff. Aircon wasn't working Bed was really hard, the most uncomfortable one I've slept in since our 2 weeks of touring Italy! Wi-Fi really slow.
Clean and basic hotel. Rooms are a bit old fashioned but clean. Location is about 15 min walk from Lucca center. Breakfast was fine. The staff friendly. A basic hotel ideal for a short stopover in Lucca when you are on transit.
This Hotel is more a 2-3 star hotel than a 4 star hotel. Some rooms are very very old, others are newly renovated and the management photos only show the new ones. We stayed here for three nights and first got a very old room which was so small that we could not open our luggages properly. The fan in the bathroom was incredibly loud, the sanitary equipment was damaged and rusty and everything was dirty. After having a shower the whole bathroom was fludded. The matrace was so old that we woke up with a hurting back. After complaing we got a newly renovated room which was bigger and better met the expectations we had from the management photos - still, the floor and bathroom were not properly cleaned. Parking was free. Breakfast was big but terrible - with old bread and muesli, cold things like butter, cheese and ham lying in the warmth, hot things like eggs and bacon already cold.
Chose this hotel for the free parking and the close proximity to the walled city. It was all we expected for the money. It was clean and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Really easy to walk in to the main city from the hotel. Tip if driving from the airport, go past the hotel and double back using the roundabout. Doing a left hand turn across the traffic is very difficult. Italian drivers don't indicate, let you out or concentrate!
This hotel definitely needs substantial reburbishment. While some superficial work has been done, the rooms and outer appereance leave much to be desired. Even the free bikes - we did not dare to use them - should be exchanged asap, as repair does not seem to be an opion any more. The breakfast is a joke. While the location looked good on the map and provided free parking, it's located in a loght ndustrial area, close to a travelled major road. Advice: Go somewhere else.
We stayed here over night a very clean Hotel we stayed on the 3rd floor, lift is quite small but the room was great. Very Good location to everything the breakfast was brilliant the staff were very friendly would highly recommend it.
This is a mixed review as we had previously stayed here two years ago without any problems whatsoever. It is a good hotel and provides an excellent breakfast. The last time we had a room at the back of the hotel but this time we were at the front. If you stay here do NOT take a room at the front. There is a bar next door and on our first night they had an outside disco that went on until 2 AM. To give the hotel it's due they did let us sleep in a different room that night. The next night we were back in the original room but there was still a problem sleeping. The front of the hotel is only yards away from a very busy road which is used all night long with the noise problem being compounded very early in the morning. The hotel does not have double glazing and really does need it. There is free parking. By all means stay here, as I said it is a good hotel and only a five or six minute walk into the superb walled city.but INSIST on a rear room or you will not be able to sleep.
We had a large room for a family of 4. Furnishings in the room a bit old, but clean and the bathroom was huge and included a spa, which the kids loved. Reception nice and modern and some rooms were renovated (two of our other kids stayed in a renovated room for two). Staff friendly. Due to weather we had to taxi into Lucca, which was only 5 minutes in car, but a bit too far for kids to walk in rain or late at night after dinner. Taxis not easily available, so this was a bit of a pain. Nice breakfast.
Our visit here was our first two days in Italy. They have a complimentary breakfast and the staff is multi-lingual. The room is comfortable. For those comfortable with walking the town center is about half a mile walk.
The hotel gets points for trying. All the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. When you arrive at the hotel, the exterior is a bit offputting, but all in all it is not a bad place to stay. A short walk to the old town, but along a very busy road with next to no pavements. The rooms are adequate, a bit small, but with good beds. Fairly well insulated from the steady noise on the road outside. You can`t regulate the aircon, and every day we came back to a very dark, very cold "grotto". The blinds were closed and the aircon was set at something like 16 C. Bathroom has a large shower cabin, but the washbasin was too large for the small space. Well served with hanging and storing space, enough hangers for two people as well. There is a safe and a little fridge, with nothing in it. Free WiFi working very well. The receptionist doubles as a barman and can only sell prosecco in whole bottles.... The breakfast is good, apart from the lack of decent bread. Just little buns and some weird brick of white bread to toast. The croissants all had frosting on them! Good, fresh fruit salad. We stayed 5 nights and it was altogether a fairly pleasant experience.
