This Villa is in a beautiful hilltop location 10-15 minutes from the historic Lucca center. Each bedroom is en-suite and the beds and linens are clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. The property is charming but also showing a lot of wear and tear. When I arrived there were 2 strangers lounging at the pool with food out on the table who did not leave until I expressed my concern to the host. FYI only the upper level bedrooms themselves have air conditioning. The entire ground floor and all the shared living spaces do not. So for a hot 3 weeks in August with my extended family it was essential to stay in the pool in the afternoons as the interior was quite warm - 100 inside on my arrival! Shuttering the doors and windows all day and wide open at night kept the interior from becoming an oven. (I repeatedly asked the host/owner before renting and before arriving and he insisted the whole Villa was air conditioned. When I expressed dismay on arrival he seemed surprised and told me it would cool off in the evenings and there was really no need for it.) The owner was responsive and made excellent restaurant recommendations. So despite some drawbacks my family enjoyed our stay very much, had lots of space inside and out, and felt it was an authentic experience of Italy (not our first stay in Tuscany). I am sure it is expensive to maintain this property and I am not trying to discourage rentals. Expectations must meet reality. We loved Lucca!
