Staybridge Suites Lubbock3.0 out of 5.0

We recently stayed at this hotel because we were attending graduation at Texas Tech. If you are visiting the University, the location cannot be beat. The hotel is one of the few that is just across the street from the University. The other plus of this hotel is that the staff are very friendly and courteous. The suite in which we were in had a spacious kitchen with everything you might need to an extended stay. The bedroom has a door so that if one person can work while the other sleeps. Parking was good. Downsides: this hotel is showing signs of age. The walls in our room needed a paint touch-up. The bed was not particularly comfortable, and the air conditioner in our bedroom blasts the bed. We had to turn up the thermostat to stop the "arctic wind" effect, but then the room got a bit warm. We had a similar problem in the living room. The sound insulation from outside noise was poor. We were on the 3rd floor, but our room faced 19th street, and traffic noise was bad. The suite has no desk, which is odd for an extended stay hotel close to an academic institution. The shower works fine (a very important feature!), and the vanity table/sink are located in an anteroom to the toilet/shower/tub room. However, the vanity was tiny and cramped for two people. While the kitchen staff were friendly, the breakfast was relatively limited in selection and the "hot" food was barely warm by the time we got it to the table. (A tip: buy some really good warmers, guys!) The dining area is too small to accommodate the size of the hotel. Given these limitations, we felt that the room was way too overpriced, even for a graduation weekend.
This was the perfect place to stay. It is just across the street from Texas Tech campus and walking distance to many restaurant's along University which is also across the street from the college campus. Our room was very clean and quite. It was a nice surprise to have a bedroom with a door to close if someone wants to stay up and watch tv in the front room. They do offer breakfast and that was nice. It would be nice if they had later hours for breakfast at least till 11am.
Have stayed before and pleasently surprised to check in and be greeted once again by welcoming, friendly staff and what appears to be upgrades to the rooms since my last visit. Conviently located to Texas tech, the freeway, airport and Buddy Holly attractions. Clean rooms (mine even has full kitchen), awesome staff, and great pricing - can't go wrong here.
If you are visiting Texas Tech, this is the perfect hotel as it is just across 19th St from the university. During my business trips (usually not during football season), the room price is very reasonable - typically less expensive than the hotels further away along Loop 289. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are clean, although some are still in need of updating/renovation. Only complaint is that the weekday breakfast doesn't start until 6:30 am and I need to be at my facility by 7...makes for a very quick breakfast.
First I want to call out the friendly front desk and personal, they are top notch and have nothing but good things to say. However after we checked in and wife pulled sheets back it was pretty apparent the sheets did not get changed as hair and dirt (and not just one or two) was found in the bed. Front desk did bring up another set of sheets for us to re-make the bed but first appearance said it all.
Excellent hotel and really enjoyed staying here. It was above my expectation and the morning breakfast was really good. This would be my place to stay hereafter, whenever I visit the city! Good service and good staff.
Recently we traveled from Dallas to Lubbock for our daughter's birthday. She and her husband live in Lubbock, in the neighborhood called "Tech Terrace" on the south side of 19th street, south of Texas Tech's campus. As we have several times before we spent a couple nights in the Staybridge Suites at the corner of 19th and University. And as it has been in the past, our stay was pleasant, our room was nice, and the prices were good. My one complaint (and reason for not giving the Staybridge a five-star rating) is that the wifi in our room on the third floor at the end of the hallway was basically useless. They need to get a network expert to fix that. I assume that this problem has something to do with the distance we were from the lobby and the center of operations. But that could be fixed. In every other respect though it's a nice place and I reckon we'll stay there next time we visit Lubbock.
Very nice comfortable hotel. We started with a Queen sized bedroom suite which was a bit small for my large husband but the staff kindly moved us to a King which is super. Very spacious, well equipped kitchen, spotlessly clean, good breakfast and very welcome Community Meal in the evening with drinks. Friendly helpful staff. Would not hesitate to recommend.
We had stopped to have a cocktail in town and we're talking with a former Tech student that recommended it. We checked on line and decided to give it a try. They had just renovated the year before. On Monday thru Wednesday they offer different dinners with beer and wine. Complimentary breakfast 7 days a week that was quite tasty as well. The room was clean and spacious. Great value! The staff we met from, maintenance to the cook to the front office was friendly and helpful. The only downside was that they didn't have USB plugins for charging your phone or tablets. 4.5 ⭐️'s
This hotel is right at the entrance to Texas Tech. It was clean and the staff was friendly. We turned on the a/c in our room and white powder went POOF everywhere. I think it was some sort of carpet cleaning agent. The girl at the front desk had no problem moving us. The breakfast buffet was above average. I would stay there again for the price I paid.
