Have stayed before and pleasently surprised to check in and be greeted once again by welcoming, friendly staff and what appears to be upgrades to the rooms since my last visit. Conviently located to Texas tech, the freeway, airport and Buddy Holly attractions. Clean rooms (mine even has full kitchen), awesome staff, and great pricing - can't go wrong here.
If you are visiting Texas Tech, this is the perfect hotel as it is just across 19th St from the university. During my business trips (usually not during football season), the room price is very reasonable - typically less expensive than the hotels further away along Loop 289. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are clean, although some are still in need of updating/renovation. Only complaint is that the weekday breakfast doesn't start until 6:30 am and I need to be at my facility by 7...makes for a very quick breakfast.
First I want to call out the friendly front desk and personal, they are top notch and have nothing but good things to say. However after we checked in and wife pulled sheets back it was pretty apparent the sheets did not get changed as hair and dirt (and not just one or two) was found in the bed. Front desk did bring up another set of sheets for us to re-make the bed but first appearance said it all.
Excellent hotel and really enjoyed staying here. It was above my expectation and the morning breakfast was really good. This would be my place to stay hereafter, whenever I visit the city! Good service and good staff.
Recently we traveled from Dallas to Lubbock for our daughter's birthday. She and her husband live in Lubbock, in the neighborhood called "Tech Terrace" on the south side of 19th street, south of Texas Tech's campus. As we have several times before we spent a couple nights in the Staybridge Suites at the corner of 19th and University. And as it has been in the past, our stay was pleasant, our room was nice, and the prices were good. My one complaint (and reason for not giving the Staybridge a five-star rating) is that the wifi in our room on the third floor at the end of the hallway was basically useless. They need to get a network expert to fix that. I assume that this problem has something to do with the distance we were from the lobby and the center of operations. But that could be fixed. In every other respect though it's a nice place and I reckon we'll stay there next time we visit Lubbock.
Very nice comfortable hotel. We started with a Queen sized bedroom suite which was a bit small for my large husband but the staff kindly moved us to a King which is super. Very spacious, well equipped kitchen, spotlessly clean, good breakfast and very welcome Community Meal in the evening with drinks. Friendly helpful staff. Would not hesitate to recommend.
We had stopped to have a cocktail in town and we're talking with a former Tech student that recommended it. We checked on line and decided to give it a try. They had just renovated the year before. On Monday thru Wednesday they offer different dinners with beer and wine. Complimentary breakfast 7 days a week that was quite tasty as well. The room was clean and spacious. Great value! The staff we met from, maintenance to the cook to the front office was friendly and helpful. The only downside was that they didn't have USB plugins for charging your phone or tablets. 4.5 ⭐️'s
This hotel is right at the entrance to Texas Tech. It was clean and the staff was friendly. We turned on the a/c in our room and white powder went POOF everywhere. I think it was some sort of carpet cleaning agent. The girl at the front desk had no problem moving us. The breakfast buffet was above average. I would stay there again for the price I paid.
We upgraded to a king suite with a couch bed in the sitting room/kitchen since there were three of us. The room was on the ground floor and quite noisy - both from outside and the people in the next room. Bathroom clean but very basic. King bed was very comfortable and the couch bed in the sitting room was also adequate. Regretted not bringing our own pillows though. Breakfast fine and what you would expect. Dinner was free one evening and beer and wine were complimentary too which was a nice surprise. The staff were all extremely polite and helpful. The suite cost $109 per night which seemed reasonable.
Alright so I'm going to be one of "Those" people. It's not that I disliked this place, but it's not up to the standards you expect at Staybridge. The staff was great, meals were average and the location is good. But it's the little things and mostly beyond the control of the staff and management. The hotel has been recently remodeled so that's nice. But the floors are really squeaky, they have Motel 6 vanities, there's a shelf in the shower right beneath the shower head that is a real elbow smasher. No ice trays, even after we asked for them, or ice machine. Inadequate parking, broken chair at the desk and slow internet. It's not exactly an economical place to stay. None of this is a deal breaker, but I'd probably opt to stay somewhere else in the future. And if you do decide to stay here, I'd ask for a room in the back. The hotel is very close to a busy street and there's a fair amount of road noise.
