I booked this break as a return as iv been going for the past 4 years, as a disabled single parent with 2 kids aged 10/9 we booked our room a full 362 days before hand in the same block as our friends 4 different families in all. After queuing an hr because all the popular apartments meaning the cheap rooms where trying get an early check in, pontins missed a trick by getting some one in the large que or simple signs, we had to que a long time so paying extra for early check in was a waste of money... With being a disabled ♿ single dad I booked a appartment 2 mins from reception, I was infact placed in room 955 miles away from the show bar and away from my friends, I instantly asked to see the manager Mark but he had left and the new manageress decided to run off and play hide and seek guess what she was very good at it took me till last day find her...the assistant manager did come see me and told me there was nout he could do but he fobbed me off with two character toys 11 pound each..There was no map or free breakfast as promised in our rebook price and the big screen wasn't working so it's a good job we have been before.. The rooms were a we expected but this yr no sofa just a double bed plonked in the living room... The entertainment this year was terrible the same as last yr but less of it, no panto wrestling nothing in the day except expensive bingo with poor prize money and the best entertainment we had was them lot trying link up with other parks, the swimming pool was closed no sky TV or any thing on in the queen Victoria, we was lucky to have 1 bar staff thou for a 10 deep size que..there was no Christmas selection box's for the kids and no Christmas tree in the complex so overall very poor.. As normal the blue coats tried to entertain the kids but as they were all new it was a big of a farce.. We were seriously considering a change of venue even butlins or a lodge but because we have had good entertainment we decided to give pontins one last chance weather it's a change of manager or simple cost savings something needs to change and if it is the manager she simple needs to go as Mark was always at hand in previous years even on the stage but as for mrs hide n seek lady she simple needs to treat her job as a family park manager not a workings men club for bingo. Overall disappointed by pontins and brittiania hotels but once again a good time with our northern friends.
Stayed there for 5 days in the last week of October 2017 Check in was in slow The accommodation we were given 1st had cracked windows and a busted front door . We asked to be moved the next place wasn’t clean and was freezing . Cleaner didn’t know how to properly clean the loo , after we were told the place was clean - stale wee in the loo and a stained loo seat . There is next to nothing to do on site The arcade has old and expensive machines The bar advertises sky sports , yet they only shows free channels so they don’t pay to access the sport . The on-site Nisa shop is both expensive and poorly stocked , with stacks of random tat . Dirty and leaking fridges and freezers , water all over the floor . When going off site the security guard looks genuinely surprised when asking if we are returning .. gives us a pass to get back on site . The place needs money spending on it and a revamp , as it’s dated , dirty , and just not very nice . I won’t be going back . One positive .. the staff , despite having to work at such a place and knowing it’s a dive , they try their best , bosses need a wake up call and that’s a understatement .
This is our 5th year coming here for the New Year celebrations and as always we had a good time generally due to the company we are in (4 families all with kids of similar age) However this time there seemed to be a few changes. Club Room • A Bit smelly but bearable - my trusty flash spray and kitchen roll soon got it up to standard • Few items missing such as oven gloves, cooking equip (we managed) • Stains on the beds (you get bedding this time) • TV Screwed to the drawers - No Remote • No Wi-Fi Maybe only minor issues but slowly deteriorating since last year Food • No Free Breakfast anymore • No Restaurant in the main club house • Burger van outside available • Kebab Shop still open Entertainment Evening entertainment was average at best, Matt from X-Factor was pretty average, Funky Monkey & Jenison were good (return acts) but mainly throughout the day it was Bingo but even that had technical difficulties therefore on one occasion a room full of people (about 1000) the prize money was £70! Previous years they have entertained families and kids with acts such as pantomimes, Wrestling & Comedians but this year just feels like there is no funding in the entertainment, we had Musical Bumps & Sports day?? We couldn't even go Swimming as that was off too. Summary Overall we thought were being robbed slightly as compared to previous years, the new manager woman was hiding most of the time, we spoke to the entertainments manager who understood our disappointment and agreed with us. Blue Coats were not as visible a previous years, New Year's Day had nothing on through the day (Nothing advertised either). Regardless of the above we had a good time as always as the kids love it and the company is good, we have all pre-booked for next year but if things don’t improve then it will be the last time for our group. PS. Prices have gone up Come back Mark Teare all is forgiven
well, just come home from ouyr new year break, had a fab time, yes there were a few issues, but overall was a great break, not much going on on new years day li,ke usual ,but was reassured this would be changed. The new manaagment were so reassuring and confident that this would change, even with these issues , im definatly re booking, best of luck to our new management, look forward to seeing you 2018 new year, had an amazing time .
Came to stay for a week with my 4 children in the summer holidays and was really stressed after hearing bad reviews in my local paper went feeling as though I was going to be so disappointed but kept in mind that we had paid 400 pound for a whole week and you get what you pay for kind of thing when we got there was a little messing round with check in but nothing major room was fine wasn't the best or the cleanest but I gave a clean myself when we got there took some detol and asked then for a mop and brush to keep in there so I could clean myself .... After all no1 cleans up after us at home so didn't really mind entertainment however was something else bluecoats are completely out of this world keep the children busy morning till night and give the parents a good laugh as well was plenty to do to keep every1 busy food was a little expensive but always is when you are away at tourist attractions must say this was probably the best holiday we have had so far including abroad considering I was so worried about it it completely exceeded expectations would definitely recommend not the best or cleanest in the world but like I mentioned you get what you pay for and the entertainment was definitely worth that and more would not hesitate to come back again and again
Worse than prison. I have stayed in dozens of hostels, and this was much, much worse than each one . A real stinker. Filthy, and full of idiots. It looked a bit like the halls at university, but worse, and dirtier. Thought it may be funny like Hi-De-Hi , but unbearable. Horrendous.
Every year we have a family holiday last year we took my kids to Alton towers as it was my oldest child (James) birthday. We planned somewhere new and that was pontins. James was very excited and my other child Zack was also very excited we thought this would be the perfect family holiday to see the kids so happy and excited. We got there and there was a half an hour que to get our keys. We got inside and it was very disgusting. The Tv wasn’t working and the our toilet flush didn’t work. Our forks and spoons were unwashed and so were the cups and the water was dirty. There was also no curtains so everyone could see us it was very disturbing. We went to get food and it tasted like school dinners and James had raw food we asked someone to cook our food properly and it was microwaved. We went back and the beds were rock hard and Zack didn’t get a goodnight sleep nobody did there was writing on the walls. In the morning we spotted mice. We decided to pack our bags and leave. The next day James had a nasty cough and felt dizzy and he became ill on his birthday thank you pontins were not coming back
This place is horrendous! Run down, dirty and depressing. Booked with sun holidays for 4 nights. Phoned them the day before arriving to upgrade which cost an extra £60. For this we got are bed linen included, we got an apartment closer to the entertainment, and double glazing. The accommodation is basic and needs a really good clean. The bathroom was discusting as was the kitchen. We booked for 4 nights and lasted 2 hours before leaving. I will never visit a pontins again whilst they provide this level of service and think it's acceptable.
