Great location, nice staff, but the square uncomfortable toilet and rough toilet paper is what's keeping me from a 5 star rating. If that doesn't matter to you, it's a great stay.

This hotel has it all, 5 star hotel, great amenities, and very conveniently located.

we enjoyed every thing about this hotel and would return and recommend to others

The hotel's location is perfect for accessing the local area by foot (barrio alto, chiado, alfama) and all the sights and restaurants in these neighborhoods. Plus, being located next to the Rossio train station and the metro blue line, access to public transport is readily accessible. The hotel's staff were very helpful, no problems with speaking English. The hotel's restaurant, on the top floor with outdoor patio, is excellent, serving a wonderful and full buffet breakfast and providing an excellent atmosphere for an elegant dinner.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooftop restaurant offered great views at old Lisbon, the breakfast buffet was fantastic with 4-5 types of freshly squeezed juice, all kind of fruits, and even champagne. The bathrooms were great and there was a heated rack for the bathrobes. All extras were there: wine glasses, cutlery, etc. The location was excellent - across the subway and only short walk from the old city Lisbon. There was a railway station and Starbucks across the hotel. The staff was extremely helpful. The only are for improvement – all 5 stars hotels have shuttles to the airport! When we came on Sunday around 6 p.m – the last shuttle was already gone, and we were leaving nobody even mentioned a shuttle, so we used a taxi to the airport.

The location is fantastic to spend time touring in Lisbon. Staff was very helpful and polite. With the breakfast included, it was a good deal. The bathroom was modern but on the small size.

very nice location, wonderful staff, and very comfortable room.

I had a wonderful experience at the Altis Hotel, in Lisbon. The staff was congenial, ready to assist without hesitation. I was impressed with the check-in experience. The bellman assisted with carrying my luggage to the room and stayed to show me how everything operates and what/what not to do. This is so important when staying in a hotel in a foreign country. The staff was helpful in organizing my tours. I am so glad that I did not book them on line. I saved money and was able to get a private tour. The breakfast buffet was very good with a variety of European favorites. Do not expect an all American breakfast. The juice was fresh squeezed and the fruit was always fresh. If you have a night on the town, just be aware that they lock the gates after 1:00am. I had to bang on the door to be let in. All in all the experience was exceptional!

Could not find better location in Lisbon. Breakfast was good. Rooms comfortable. I was given a smking room and I told them I can not stay there. I was told I must book through hotel website directly! They finally gave me a non smking room and it was good.

6 days stay in July 2012 for vacation. Excellent convenient central location, close to everything by foot, friendly staff, funky room design and features. New or near new everything. GREAT breakfast area on the upper floor with huge outdoor terrace, glass walls and fantastic views of the city. What a Pleasure to have a buffet breakfast (sufficient breakfast) or evening drinks there. Good mattress, pillows, personal robes. Front desk recommended 2 restaurants within walking distance. Both were just GREAT. Sound insulation in our room 211 was not particularly good (from adjacent room one can hear showers, etc). Hotel does not have pool . They offer complimentary access to the pool at a different hotel. We did not go there. Airport shuttle runs may be 4 - 5 times a day and, as I was told, takes about 2 hours due to various pick up points in the city. Taxi to the airport takes 20 minutes and public airbus nearby around 35-40 minutes. I suggest to the hotel to drop this unusable service.

The hotel is located in central Lisbon with convenient access to local stores. The metro is located across the street from the hotel. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating ... the hotels best feature aside from the nice rooms, pleasant staff ... is it's location ... highly recommended if you are visiting Lisbon for the first time.

Make sure that you ask for a room with a view or you will be stuck with a view of the narrow courtyard. Great location next to Metro, shops, restaurants. Free airport shuttle but you have to first reserve.

Fantastic stay. Wonderful breakfast. Comfortable beds and clean rooms. Fantastic location!

As described, the Altis Avenida is a 5* boutique hotel, in the center of downtown Lisbon. Wife and I stayed here 2 nights and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. Incredibly friendly and helpful arranging dinners and Fado. Hotel is super modern in decor. Beds are very comfortable. Gorgeous bathrooms. They even do a turn-down service with pastries! Only thing is that it is in the middle of the touristy area of Lisbon, which could be good or bad, depending on what you are looking for. Would probably stay in Alfama next time. Definitely have drinks, dinner or breakfast on the roof, its an amazing outdoor balcony.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Excellent helpful and professional staff. Very clean rooms & bathrooms. At the heart of many landmarks. A short distance walks to many places and restaurants.

This is only the second review I've ever been wiling to take the time to do. The other one I did was because I was not at all happy. This is being written for the exact opposite reasons. I'm not a huge traveler but I do prefer decent hotels i.e. very clean, attentive friendly staffs, convenient location, carpets and bedding I'm not afraid to walk on or sleep in, etc. The Altis Avenida exceeded my expectations and must be considered one of the best bets in Lisbon. It is located in one of the nicest and most convenient parts of the city, is only two years old (having taken an existing building and completely gutting it), has a restaurant with great views of the city, and its staff appears to be a very well trained team always eager to be of service in any way possible and always smiling. They all speak several languages (English was a biggie for me) and most Portuguese citizens speak English as well making it a very comfortable place for me to visit. The Metro is so easy to use even I was able to get around easily. If considering tours, check out Grey Line tours as we had very good experiences with them here. I would easily return again and would not think twice about where I would stay

This hotel is my fav in Lisbon. Great location, modern and very clean!

Steps away from many of the hot spots of the city and the starting point of all the tour buses, you could not ask for a better location. This hotel is a boutique hotel, and you get the same type of treatment, with a reasonable price. Anything they are able to do to make your stay more comfortable, they do. The decor is very modern and trendy, and it had a nice feel to it overall. Also, free wifi in the rooms. The icing on the cake is the free traditional dessert that comes to your door every night around 8pm. That made my stay!

Great Hotel, Great Location. Metro and Bus stop is close by (Stop is Restauradores). The breakfast could be better, but sufficient

We spent the night before getting on a cruise, the staff was terrific, very accommodating and very knowledgeable about their town and restaurants. The location is incredible, located in the best area of the city, the room was beautiful and we had all the little things you might need. The bartender at their bar was so nice and knowledgeable about the different brands of Irish whiskey they carry. We've never had it before so he invited us to sample some of his recommendations before ordering some drinks. We would stay there again and again. The best flavor of the Irish People!
