My husband and I found this gem by total accident!!! Everything was booked in Idaho falls and riverside hot springs popped up on Expedia. The lady on the phone (Kathy) was so awesome she found us a king room for less then what we expected. They allow you to have your dog for a small fee but very dog friendly!! They have a wonderful restaurant on sight food was fabulous and the bar area is very quanit. Newbes and returning guest. It is like going back in time. Some very famous people have stayed here throughout the years. There is a beautiful river that you can inertube on. I wish we would of had more time to explore this truly beautiful and comforting place!! There are so many other things to do like fishing, hiking, an Olympic swimming pool in town, mineral pools and zip lining!! Truly a must see for all..

If you're looking for high class and opulence, look elsewhere--but if you're looking for a hole-in-the-wall historic getaway, this is your place. We loved the basic but timeless furnishings, the complimentary breakfast, and the relaxing hot springs. We'll be back!

This was the most amazing stay and everyone at the hotel and restaurant made me feel so welcome like I was at home with family. For someone who is never able to relax or sleep at most hotels, I was relaxed and slept so well. The food by the two chef's, Alonzo and Paul, was outstanding. The Bison Ribeye was excellent! My server Betty was so great and personable and just love her smile. Both Liz's were so great and accommodating, even with both my dogs. They really went out of their way for me and I am so appreciative. I have never been welcomed or cared for so well at a hotel in all my years. The mineral pools in the hotel are so wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone. Congratulations to the entire staff with many thanks for making me feel so welcomed. Thank you so much!

It was our first visit to the Riverside Inn, and it WON"T be our last. Liz, the hotel manager made our stay perfect. Our King room was lovely and the hot springs were as well. The robes are a nice touch.

The clerk that checked us in was friendly. We are in our sixties and wished a staff member would have helped us carry our luggage up the flights of stairs. When we entered our room it smelled like it was fumigated that day. The window was open so we left it that way even though the outside temperature was about 40 degrees overnight. We did have a couples massage. We were instructed to soak in the mineral hot tub for 30 minutes prior to our massage. We had a private hot tub room which we enjoyed. I get a professional massage every month from M.E. After our massage we discussed our experience. My wife said the male massage therapist rubbed oil in her hair and used his chin to massage her head. This made her feel uncomfortable. The female massage therapist that gave me a massage did a fair job. Before checking out I signed up for a single person hot tub room. It was a concrete cube with mineral springs water circulating in it. Part of the bottom had black spots. It may have been black mold. The Riverside Inn is pet friendly so we enjoyed this amenity. This is a good motel if you want to escape everyday stress and don't mind basic furnishings.

We stayed at the riverside inn once we showed up both of us commented on the fantastic home town feel and rustic feel of the whole building. The staff was friendly and helpful with anything we needed. Beautiful views and gorgeous private pools to soak in.

This Inn had nice clean rooms. The staff was friendly and helpful. The gourmet dining was a great temptation, but we were unable to take advantage. The weekend breakfast buffet was excellent! Private, indoor soaking tubs - GREAT!

After staying in a number of the Lava Hot Springs hotel/motels, we've found the Riverside Inn to be the perfect place for us! From the friendly staff to the quaint rooms to the great room and the Portneuf Restaurant and Lounge, it has all we need and more. The front porch overlooking the Portneuf River is a great place to enjoy a respite on a beautiful afternoon. The state hot pools are a short walk away and the Inn also has inside and outside pools available on site.

We stayed at the Riverside Hot Springs Inn quite by accident due to a car problem. What a beautiful old historical hotel. It is also very dog friendly. We ate in the restaurant and the chef/tender was very friendly and accommodating; he even has vegan entrees. We also really enjoyed the private mineral hot springs baths. The staff are extremely friendly, accommodating and helpful. The included daily continental breakfast was very adequate and the dining area was lovely and relaxing to eat in. Everything about this hotel is clean and tranquil. I would highly recommend Riverside Hot Springs Inn. It is by far the nicest place to stay in Lava Hot Springs.

I've been going to Lava Hot Springs for over 20 years. I've stayed in a variety of lodging but just stayed in the Riverside Hot Springs in for the first time. I have to say it's been my nicest stay. Several times I have stayed at the Lava Hot Springs Inn which is very comparable to the Riverside but just not quite as nice. The biggest argument for the Inn is the outdoor bathing pools and maybe the idea that it was a former sanitarium. Both places serve a free breakfast and the Inn's is full on meal with eggs dishes, juice pankcakes, etc. Riverside however has much nicer decor and better appointed rooms. It's a pretty classy place. Instead of multiple outdoor pools it has inside pools in the basement if you want seclusion. Both don't have quite the hot springs experience as the public springs which are just a block north of Riverside and hotter and a more spiritual experience. What the Riverside does have is a very nice, small romantic restaurant that has a chef who cares and probably the best fine dining it town. To that end it is more like a nice traditional hotel. But Riverside was less expensive and offered a deal that had a $10.00 credit for the restaurant (which I put towards a flaming chocolate hazlenut cake). Location is not a huge issue in the town because it's only 3 block long but Riverside is right in the middle, a stones throw from several restaurants and bars as well as the famous hot water source.
