Litli Geysir

Staff was great

Great location across from Geysers. Close drive to Gulfoss waterfall. Rooms were large and comfortable. Food was good. Next morning we woke up to the aftermath of a good snow storm. At that point realized that our rental car did not come equipped with an ice scraper. Front desk attendant went to her car and let us borrow her personal one.

ION Adventure Hotel

Great peaceful hotel

Ion Hotel is a great spot for a romantic getaway. We went in the Winter where the 360 road that leads to hotel can be extremely tricky to manage. Once you arrive the actual hotel features are wonderful. It is quite small but they include a great peaceful lounge, a pool area with sauna and separate relaxation room. Staff at the lounge are not attentive. You will need to go up to place any orders. Otherwise everyone is friendly and accommodating. Main problem was the actual room quality. For a luxury hotel the bathroom, heating system and TV content had much to be desired. We even decided to use the pool changing rooms for a shower as they were much better quality.

Bitra Bed & Breakfast

Cozy B&B, perfect for northern lights viewing

I stayed at this bed and breakfast with 3 friends for one night in October. We really enjoyed it because it was easy to find (it has it's own street right off of the main road, Road 1) and because it was distant enough from other places which made it dark enough at night to view the northern lights easily (we actually got to see them here!) We had a room for 4 that we found to be very comfortable. They had a heater that we could moderate the temperature on so even though it was about 40 °F outside, we were nice and warm inside. There was a shared barhroom on our floor that was always clean and we didn't have to wait long to use it, plus they had a hair dryer. The free breakfast was delicious and plentiful. They have the loveliest jams! Just remember to take off your boots/shoes at the front door so that the floor and stairs don't get messy (socks or sandals will do the trick). Overall, we had a wonderful experience and we definitely recommend it.
