Century Langkawi Beach Resort

This hotel needs refurbishment urgently if they want to be rated 4 or 5 star. It not anything more than 3 star. They need to clean up the place. The toilets in the lobby are so dirty, the walls are the dirtiest I have ever seen. The couches /chairs in the lobby are dirty. The curtains on the rooms are dirty and smell musty. Our rooms would get "cleaned" daily however, we had to ask for things like toilet paper and soap on a daily basis. Walking to the restaurant at night is quite scary, there's no lighting by the stairs to the rooms. It's a pity I could not change hotels whilst here since my booking was fully paid for. I will not recommended this hotel. Please refurbish the entire hotel before taking in other guests

A lot of things could be improved here. From the training the staff receives, to the cleaning of the rooms and public areas. In general this hotel may have once been a 5 star but I don't think it should dare call itself more than a 3 star now. The public spaces are worn and need renovation. There are various areas like the Captain's Grill Restaurant and the Bar on the way to the pool that are shut down and in disrepair collecting dust and animal turds. Every day I ventured to the pool on my way from the all day dinning I smelled sewage by the closed down bar. The grounds are vast and you have to wait for a trolley to drop you off at your room. They are poorly lit at night. I twisted my ankle walking down a dark staircase to our room. We tried calling front desk using the emergency phone outside the room and it did not work. Our keys magnetic strip would stop working every 12 hours and we would often need to walk back to the front desk 10 minutes in the dark. The location is water front but in the middle of no where. Expect to wait a long time for taxis and pay extra every time you call for one. In general the hotel operator needs to step up and maintain the property correctly. If they are not willing to do this then call this a 3 star property and stop charging people such high rates. Had I been able to leave and switch hotels I would have but it was high season at Christmas and New Year's time and nothing was available.

The hotel is like a garbage due to sort of employees dedicated to room services. Even staff does their best to satisfy your requirements but they can not manage everything. I have not seen anywhere in any part of Asia. The hotel needs end to end refurbishment.

Excellent property but badly requires refurbishing and staff runover. Staff is pathetic. It took 40 min for us to gey into our room. Rooms were clean and cozy with a private balcony and a Jacuzzi with dead jets. Room service was good but while checking out it was even more pathetic. Bellboy just dragged our bags and broke one stuff also. Only word i can say is thay it was literally patetic. No one would come to load luggage in the cab and you would prefer to do it yourself..

All things considered, price, location and especially staff, this was the best place I stayed in Malaysia. I love that it's on the water, it's small beach isn't big enough for thrill seeking paragliders and water scooters, but you can rent a kayak if you like. "Serene" comes to mind. There's still a bit of elegance in this one-time Sheraton property and it's young staff is doing a fine job of making the guests feel comfortable and welcome. Many are pretty good English speakers and are working on becoming better. Century Langkawi seems like a classic Cadillac that was rescued from someone's garage and is slowly being restored. My room was amazing; spacious, comfortable, with a balcony. The property is lush, green and tropical with tropical wildlife jumping and climbing around and buzzing their siren songs. This could be annoying, or you might just stop "hearing" the bug symphony. Two outstanding elements are the staff and the food in that order. The staff is genuinely engaging and interested. They have lovely personalities and that goes a long way in creating a positive experience. The international breakfast buffet was very well done; egg and soup stations and vegetarian options. I'm no foodie, but I very much enjoyed the western menu, from cheese burgers, to lamb shank to filet of salmon. Yum!!! Century Langkawi is definitely a work in progress. There are some parts that need to be spruced up a little bit. The boardwalk is a nice nostalgic piece. If you're traveling through Malaysia, (you'll want to visit Langkawi Island anyway) Century Langkawi should be on your list. Oh, and I didn't even mention the huge pool, (or heart shaped kiddie pool) which I played in everyday. (Not the kiddie pool.) I'm already considering my next visit. I like to return every year just to witness the progress.

We travelled to Century Langkawi Beach with friends and while they assured us it was great, I did have reservations upon reading some reviews.. From the second we arrived our stay was lovely. The resort is large, with plenty of room to walk/jog if you felt like it but if not the resort offers a courtesy bus to get to/from your room/the restaurant/pool etc. The jungle setting is relaxing and peaceful. There are repairs needed (paths are a little uneven/broken in places and could do with resurfacing, the pool decking could also do with upgrading) but none detracted from our comfortable stay. We spent many hours in and around the pool. The downside is the obvious battle to maintain the resort without the jungle overtaking!. We enjoyed meeting the friendly/helpful staff, and clearly management are working on bringing things back to the level needed. We will definitely be back :)

This will be our 10th time in 9 years coming to this resort so we have seen many changes over the time, both good and bad. While under the Sheraton name it was let go too far, so when the new owners took over and renamed it Century, they had quite a job ahead to get it back to anywhere near its former glory. There are many changes being made. On your first visit here you may not think so, but this resort is in a jungle setting and therefore very difficult to maintain due to the constant work keeping nature under control. It is not the newest, most impressive resort on the island by far, but if you want to spend some time safely among the native wildlife and enjoy a shady pool (which you will most certainly need when the sun is shining) with a swim up pool bar, friendly staff and good restaurants both within the resort but also a short taxi trip away, then you can't go past staying here. Although our holiday here has not yet ended, I am already eagerly awaiting our next trip back here next year!

This used to be Sheraton Langkawi Resort and I was there about 10 years ago, and never expect it to be so run down. Except the room I'm in is large and are still in quite good condition, the surrounding area really need a thorough upkeep and maintenance. At least those visible areas should be cleaned up and upkeep. Is quite eye sore to see torn curtains are still in use near the swimming pool area. some public area halls or event rooms that are not in used are stuffed with very old and broken furniture. If the management do not intend to upkeep the resort, it will just continue to deteriorate. I went during Malaysia school holidays in June but every morning breakfast there are less than 10 people at the breakfast restaurant. Is really sad as this resort had its 'Hey day', it was very beautiful and 5 stars status.

I stayed there for couple of nights. I loved the silence there and ofcourse the breakfast, which was beyond awesome. It had beautiful beach views and ofcourse friendly and supportive staff... There were some communication issues, as the front desk operative was unable to understand what I said but eventually he understood my issues. Rooms were tidy but not the bed covers but they immidiately changed it after informing them. Initially no hot water in shower and the sink got choked but it was resolved the next day. The safe was broken so be well prepared to keep your valuables safe yourself. It is a big far from the main market area "the pantai cenang". I hired a bike so I had no issues traveling across the island. It is a recommended place for people who wish to relax only and definitely for honeymoon couples. The hotel is closer to the sky bridge. Muslim tourist do request for a bucket and jug as there are no muslim showers available in bathrooms :) I am glad I stayed here with loads of memories in 3 days only!!!

Stayed in a suite that was huge - and must have been luxurious in the past.....Maintenance needs to be addressed as the mini fridge did not function properly and the shower recess needs some up dating. The resort itself needs a complete overhaul not only the amenities but the gardens and surrounding grounds as well. Must have been a fantastic resort once upon a time. Such a pity to get run down like this.
