Would not recommend this hotel. Not happy here. Borderline dump!

Ordered room through Orbitz, but the Owner insisted he write down my credit card number, name, address. So, he now has all of my most sensitive information somewhere on a paper card. I don't think you're really supposed to do that these days. "in room spa" = standing only shower for one "non-smoking" = was a smoking room for many years most likely. It wreaked and gave me allergies. There were some wash clothes folded nicely in a bouquet-looking arrangement, but when I went to use one, the whole set unfurled to reveal two of them having what I could only discern as poop stains on them. I was thoroughly grossed out. Lamp didn't work. Oh yeah, and not the fault of the hotel, but the room across the hall had a sticker on it that read "WARNING: These premises have been sealed by the Sheriff, Coroner." There was apparently a death investigation currently going on in that room due to someone passing in there the prior afternoon. No disrespect to the family, and the hotel can't really be blamed for that, but it was very creepy!! Otherwise, they had HBO, it was warm, bug-free!

This motel is in a great location, right on the main road in Lake Tahoe City. All the other hotels are on the same street and are quiet similar to this one of what I saw, so there is no need to pay more. $38 was a great price for this motel with the cabin in the woods feeling. There was a very strong heater in the room, that could warm up your room as much as you wanted. I could rate this hotel 5 stars, but there was no sugar and cream for the coffee in the room and I dislike a black coffee, but that was still nice that they give you (one) coffee at least. I would choose this hotel again, if I was going to the Lake Tahoe. Rather clean, no insects, clean towels nicely folded. I was definitely surprised by the cheap price, and motel surpass the price I paid. I recommend you google the street that this hotel is at and choose the cheapest one on this street, there are all very similar. Location is also very safe. You could basically even walk from there to the Lake side, store, restaurants.

This is definitely a woodsy, mountain town motel of the style of twenty five years back or so. But it was clean, perfectly comfortable, rooms had character, no corporate cookie-cutter approach. It's within an easy walk of the Heavenly gondola and surrounding business. And the price was excellent. I'd definitely stay again.

The Pinewood Inn has always been a great, affordable hotel near everything in South Lake Tahoe. You are near the main beach, plenty of food locations as well as grocery stores and of course you are not too far from the casinos! The rooms are clean, the staff is nice and provides the wifi password at check-in and the parking is right outside your room.

Booked room,it said air conditioning. When checking in the room I was given.dosn't have AC.They wanted me to pay more on the spot.to have a room with AC?!

So I made a reservation for a non smoking room and I was put in a room without the non-smoking sign. So I told staff about the sign, one of the two staff stated it was a non-smoking room and someone took the sign down. When I later inspected the door I could not see any marks of paint being removed (if this applicable) from where the non-smoking sign might have been. Later in the room on a tray with some sort of ice box, TV controller and maybe like plastic cups in a bag I saw an ash tray, and I told the front desk people about it and or one of the staff members said someone put the ash tray there. The room was actually fine for me, but later smoke was coming into my room from down the hallway where another room that did not have a non-smoking sign on it. It seems like the staff may have lied to me about the room being a non-smoking room. Later on the day I checked out I saw other rooms with that did not have the non-smoking signs have ash trays in the room like mine, and a room or two with non-smoking signs on the door without ashtrays on the trays. Upon check out I asked the staff lady to scribble out my debit card that they wrote down on one of my reservation slips/receipt or something upon check in. She then eventually did to an extent, but I could see some of the numbers and there is a yellow page beneath it in which it copies what was written. Because I could see some of the numbers I asked if I could look at it and hold it, I wanted to make sure the numbers could no

Short overnight stay. Old style pinewood paneling makes for dark interior but room was clean and comfortable. Beds comfortable. Lots of plugs. Worn rugs, but well priced stop over hotel.

I've stayed here a couple of times. The beds are comfortable, and there is woodwork aplenty in the main room. The tv is fine. On the other hand, the heaters are finicky (this worries me), and the shower is depressing (but the rest of the bathroom is adequate). This place is always one of the cheapest, and I don't have any big complaints other than the fact that the heaters may be a fire hazard.

Have tried several times this snow season and the last one. Probably it's the cheapest and most locally convenient place to stay. In general it's actually pretty good as a Inn.

we asked for a non-smoking room but we can smell smoke all the time. the place location is good but facilities are bad. won't stay again.

In middle of all the attractions Least bothering staff and good value for money

The Pinewood Inn has cozy rooms with fridges and microwaves (great if you're on a budget), is walking distance to Heavenly and the casinos, and usually costs less than $50 / night. Tough to beat that.

Got a King Size bed for an over night stay. Fridge, Microwave, Hairdrier, Coffemaker and all. No hot water on bathroom sink, but Shower does. Top bedsheet needs to be washed, fresh smell.

I come to Tahoe to hike its impressive mountains and therefore only needed a quick, cheap place to stay for the night. This location fit the bill perfectly and although the location is a bit run down and dated the over amenities (microwave, mini fridge) outweighed the $16 per night cost. Will definitely stay here again.

As always, the Pinewood came through. Love this place, especially the wood paneled rooms.

Just ok, not that much great. but it's near to indian restaurant and Lake

Ok as a budget hotel for a last-minute trip - walkable enough to local attractions.

Better than expected and actually very nice room with in-room spa. Animals accepted.

The rooms have a bad odor and everything inside was terrible. With in the first 5 mins I asked for a refund and the manager did not approve. I would never recommend this hotel.
