Based on the price that was paid for this hotel, it leaves a ‘buyer beware’ feeling of bewilderment. Don’t be fool by aesthetics this hotel is obviously older condition with new decorations. The AC unit was old and had cardboard wedged in it to hold the vent up and rattled all night. The parking situation is atrocious, the lot is not even big enough for a low capacity of guests let alone a full busy weekend. Full of potholes, spaces are way to close together and if you have to park in the municipal lot next door, you will not be reimbursed. A basic room costs almost $1000 for 3 days and you can’t even park at the hotel.

Such a great location. Perfect walking distance to most attractions. The walls were a little thin but that was the only negative thing I noticed about this hotel. I definitely recommend it!

Poor management. Inflexible cancellation policy that does not align with what is listed in their Orbitz property description.

Close to everything and spacious property available to you

Convenient to everything. Great Adirondack atmosphere. Walls are thin though, so you can hear conversations.

Room was a lot bigger than expected, almost suite-like! Some minor updating would be nice. The restaurant and bar were closed during our stay (a Monday night) which was kind of a bummer, but since it is located right on Main Street there were a lot of other options within walking distance. Overall; a nice, clean, inexpensive place to sleep and regroup for one night!

Hotel is in a great spot. Parking was very tight & hard to find on a Friday night. Room was very clean, just wish water pressure was a little better.

We didn't get there until late due to the recent snow. Take the advice of others and get there early of you can. It was the weekend of a CANAM hockey tournament and the town was packed. I was lucky to get the last parking spot. The front desk adviced me not to move and take the shuttle which we did. Check-in was quick and the staff was courteous. The room was pleasing and a good size. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. The location was great. You could walk anywhere easily and the shuttle to Whiteface was less than a block away. Our room was on the top floor and overlooked Mirror Lake which was beautiful. There were however a few things that need addressed or could be better. First was the walls. I read the hotel was recently remodeled and I know sound deadening would require a gut job but you could hear everything. I could make out the conversations of the guests next door in a normal voice which led to us whispering. Even worse than that was 3 nights of snoring. Lucky I was able to drown it out with music, I feel bad for the person next door but I needed to sleep too. Next was the water. At one moment it would be perfect, 30 seconds later it was barely warm and then it was scolding hot. I had to shower with my hand on the faucet to regulate the water. Finally the pillows were horrible. I always travel with my own but my other half did not. 4 of the 5 pillows were lumpy. It was like sleeping on a half beat dog toy. Something so small can ruin a trip.

Old, clean and comfortable hotel in middle of shopping, food/drink and attractions. Pet friendly a plus. Great and friendly staff. Very comfortable bed with plenty of pillows. Modern TV. Room was quite roomy with the usual amenities such as mini fridge, hair dryer and iron. Hotel itself has not been recently renovated, but sort of fits in with a town like Lake Placid - a little rustic. I would stay there again. I would say it is more than a decent value for the buck.

We spent one night in Lake Placid so wanted a conveniently located hotel. North Wood is in the middle of Main Street so it was perfect. People have complained about the parking but we had no problem getting a spot in their lot. Check in was fast and easy. The elevators are very small, but knowing that it is a older property makes it understandable. The room was large and had a great view of the lake. The only complaint we have is the mold on the shower/tub surround. The room and everything was clean but the grout needed to be cleaned and painted.

I stay here twice a year. Staff is great. Rooms are really nice. Great views of mirror lake and the village. It's just a great place to stay.

Loved the location in the heart of the village. Hotel was old and you can tell that it had history behind it, loved it!! Rooms were updated and it was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.

Hotel is old but rooms are large, clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Location is great, right in the middle of down town. Would stay there again.
