We go to LP every year and their was the first time we’ve stayed here. No parking to speak of, low on luggage carts, food was awful, and our room was freezing! There was a gap between our heating unit and the wall that was so big, we could see the glassblowing store across the street. Sheets were never changed and had to ask for the room to be vacuumed. Best part was that we were close to Starbucks!
Decent hotel in terms of rooms and cleanliness but terrible food. Mushy, tasteless food, not a decent vegetable in sight, found a hair in the pasta, found slivers of plastic (more than 1), stuff floating in the water. Eat somewhere else. The guy at the front desk is rude and in the wrong business.
Pay for the lake view room - it is totally worth it. What a fantastic view to wake up and start the day! The only reason this review was 4 out of 5 stars was because of the limited parking. What a pain it was to park the car after a long day of hiking. Would be nice if this part of the experience wasn’t such a hassle! Friendly staff. Perfect location. Comfortable beds. Clean room. Will we be back? Absolutely.
This hotel has been modernized.Decor very nice. Very convenient to all shops and restaurants. Staff at the front desk not as welcoming as I would like. Very cheerful and interactive housekeeper. Wifi is terrible and not secure. We had a suite, it would have been nice to have a TV in the living room area.
It was a very quiet week when we stayed here, so we were given a top-floor room with a nice view of Mirror Lake. The room was a suite, but the walls are poorly soundproofed, so our neighbor's TV could be heard clearly. The lobby carpets look like they should be replaced. The staff were very pleasant to deal with.
I am sad to report we did not have a great experience at this hotel. First, parking is a challenge. There is a small lot behind the hotel which people seem to park just any way. The hotel needs to be updated. The fridge did not run or cool and our toilet ran. I called the front desk and they sent a guy up that said the fridge was cool and he could not hear the toilet. I called back and a woman came up saying the same thing. They both made me feel like I was stupid and didn't know what cold was. Finally they brought another fridge up that worked perfectly. The next day we came in late afternoon and our room had not been serviced. They were once again rude when I asked for service. This is a Choice Hotel, they need to step up their service. There are many other choices in Lake Placid you could try.
Stayed here over the weekend for the Can/am tournament with our sons hockey team... Hotel was clean and staff very accommodating... The boys had a dedicated mini stick room and they encouraged the parents to get out of the hallway and socialize in the comfy couches in the lobby in the evening!! Was an excellent location with an easy walk to the arena with hockey bags for the boys!!! Will definitely stay here again such a beautiful town!!!
We stayed in Lake Placid as a home-base for four days of High Peaks hiking. The facility is quiet, pleasant, clean and comfortable ... but not exceptional. The lounge area could definitely use better, more comfortable furniture. The staff was helpful and attentive. The location, however, can't be beat and at the end of each long day of mountain hikes, it was so great to return to this very central Main St. location, park and walk to any number of restaurants. Likewise for breakfast. We came with two cars and, while the lot is undersized, had no problem finding spots for both on all three nights.
Booked 2 hotel rooms maybe 9 mos + prior for a destination wedding nearby. Was told minimum 2 night stay. Arrived and was told my request for 2 rooms together was not available despite my booking it so far in advance! After a bit of back and forth with a somewhat snotty female at the front desk who was a manager, she suddenly found the second room directly across from mine. Imagine that! The rooms were fine, had to pay $20 each upfront on credit card for any damage that might be incurred while we stayed there. NEVER, EVER HAVE I DONE THIS BEFORE. So I took photos of broken lampshades and a banged in door painted over upon initial entry. Supposed to get it back a few days later. Haven’t checked yet... Rooms were fine, clean. Bathtub didn’t drain well, filled with our shower water. Very old, very slow elevators and terrible parking. Apparently the city grew up,around the hotel, as per the snippy front desk gal. We were not advised of the poor parking situation upon booking nor in the hotel description. That was an issue. Had to PAY to park down the block at a Municipal lot. Not cool in the rain! Hoping bar scene on first floor and a restaurant that served only breakfast which was fine. Dog friendly hotel. I’ve paid less and been to better hotels in my travels.
Conveniently located so that most village shops/destinations are within walking distance. Similar to most other town hotels, no breakfast is included. Dual elevators are available, but be careful with your luggage as the openings are unusually narrow. The walls and windows are not very sound proof, as we noticed noise from above/below/and outside. The bed was comfortable, but the biggest negative in the room was the tub/shower. The drain was severely clogged and filled up to your ankles by the time your shower was completed. Also, the shower wall seam, where the shower walls meet the top of the tub was half way covered with black mold. ( This could probably be avoided with occasional cleaning with "scrubbing bubbles." Ice is available, but must be obtained by going to the front desk. Parking is somewhat limited, so if possible, I'd advise getting a parking pass and parking a couple hours prior to check-in.
