Once you’ve had your fill of secluded relaxation, head out for a nearby adventure. Nearby you’ll find Eleven Mile Reservoir and the “Dream Stream,” Eleven Mile Canyon, the South Platte River, Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument and Visitor Center. You can drive to the top of 14,111 foot Pikes Peak via the Pikes Peak Highway or visit the famous Royal Gorge and walk its 995-ft. high pedestrian suspension bridge that spans this scenic canyon where the Arkansas River flows.
We are just a 5-minute drive to a gas station, convenience, and liquor store in Lake George and 10 minutes to Florissant which has a few local dining options, a library, and a free historical museum. Historic Cripple Creek is a gorgeous 30-minute drive south, where you can wander the historic shops and restaurants, try your luck in the casinos, tour a gold mine, ride a steam locomotive, or take in a live theater performance at the Butte Theater (always a real treat!). The larger town of Woodland Park is just a half-hour drive east with multiple shops, grocery stores, a movie theater, a recreation center, a hospital, and seasonal events. Colorado Springs is about an hour to the east where you can tour the United States Olympic Training Center, the United States Air Force Academy, as well as all the amenities a large city has to offer. The world-class ski areas of Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and Monarch are just over an hour to the west as well as white-water rafting on the Arkansas River in the summer. You won't lack for things to do and see!
