Husband and I stayed here for 2 nights back in Aug 2017. The hotel can be reached in 10 min by bus, from the Montruex railway station. Our room was very good with a large comfortable bed and a neat bathroom. We also had an attached balcony with a table and 2 chairs, overlooking the lake. The view was quite good. There was no air conditioning, just like every other hotel in Switzerland. But Montruex was very hot at the time and there was only one stand fan kept in the room, which was our only saviour during the nights. Breakfast was very good with a lot of variety and we had a good start each day because of it. We had leisurely walks on the lake shore in the evening, which can be accessed through the hotel's back gate. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The weather- not so much!
Disappointing hotel. I looked in the web for a hotel not far from Bern possibly on the lake. From the photos the hotel did not seem bad and I booked. The surprise was during my arrival. From outside I understood immediately that the hotel was not the best. Uncared and old stable. The lobby is bad and badly furnished with things put there. The old and badly maintained public areas need to be renovated or better furnished. A collection of horrible seedlings in the corridor adjacent to the lobby. The first impression was negative. Also the reception staff was not the best. The lake view room has a beautiful view but everything ends there. The breakfast staff is Chinese and does not speak languages. To explain that I wanted a coffee we went to attempts. The garage was unavailable and I had troubles in finding parking. This hotel definitely did not like me sure in the city you can find better.
Felt like time travel because of its old-fashioned charm. Good breakfast and service. The view from the room's balcony - the lake and the mountains - made me to want to stay indoors more than I usually would when I'm in Montreux.
A distinctive stay at the Golf Hotel was accommodation in October 2017 and I spent two days in Montreux The hotel has beautiful views of Lake Leman The hotel is near the center of Montreux There are available sessions from the hotel overlooking Lake Leman
We were there with a family trip , we booked two rooms . They upgraded us to a room featuring a balcony facing the lake . we met the GM of the hotel was very hospitable he invited us for a lovely welcome drink in the terrace.. staff are very helpful , they helped us arrange our trip . Wi-Fi is good, rooms clean, and perfect location Hope to visit this hotel in the future
Montreux, located in the French-speaking district of western Switzerland, has a different lifestyle from the German-speaking eastern part of the city and deserves to be experienced in this area, whether north or south, in the city or in ancient castles. In particular, this five-star hotel is definitely worth staying.
I was there on business and we has a driver. Good thing, when we arrive it was rainy and foggy. We would have never found the place. It was dark when we arrived and had just traveled from Germany and had been on the road for hours. Check in went OK and we split up to take our luggage to our rooms. We were to meet back at the dinning room in a hour. My room was fair to good, it diffidently needed up updates and repairs. I changed clothes and met my travel companions for dinner. First of all, nothing is inexpensive in Switzerland. The hotel was a lot and the meals at the hotel were very expensive. The food was OK and the wine was better. After dinner we all went to bed with plans of meeting for breakfast. The shower here was not like we have in the U.S. were as half of it is open so water can go all over the floor. I didn't like it at all. The bed was like most European beds, not that comfortable. But I was exhausted and didn't waste any time getting to sleep. I got up in the morning and it was a beautiful day with bright sun and clear blue skies. I looked out of my room and saw the lake for the first time, remember when we got there it was dark, foggy and rainy. I didn't even know there was a lake there. But WOW!!! it was beautiful. I went to the dinning room and the views were spectacular. The guys I was traveling with all said the same thing. I didn't even know there was a lake there last night.. We had breakfast and went out on the balcony . It was breath taking, now I know why the hotel and meals were so much. The view is everything for this hotel, without it, not so great, but with it, it changes everything.
Good things first: The location at the lakeshore ist beautiful, so is the view, perfect for a morning run along the lake or enjoying the view from the terrace. Yet, we waited for more than half an hour until served on the terrace, the staff there was very friendly, but not well trained, the chief of staff lordly and unattentive. Seemed more like a management than a staff problem. Breakfast was very good, great selection of cheese and fresh fruit o be mentioned. The rooms, esp. bathrooms outworn and fusty.
We were in Montreux on vacation in August 2017. The hotel is very comfortable. We had a spectacular view to Geneva lake and Alps from our apartments. There was a small balcony where we could have a cup of tea enjoying one of the best view. You can also have promenade along the coastline and find the most popular monument in Montreux mounted in memory of Freddie Mercury. He lived there and he had own music recording studio. The hotel is in walking distance from city center and all interesting places thanks to small size of the town. Hotel rooms are in style " a la provence ". There is everything you need for breakfast. In case if you need a parking lot you have to book it in advance. Montreux is a very nice place to stay if you are travelling from Zurich to Geneva.
Our 2 weeks Swiss vacation started with 4 nights in Montreux at the Golf-Hotel Rene Capt. We couldn't have been more delighted. The property has amazing views right on Lake Geneva. Each morning we awoke to stunning sunrises behind the Swiss and French Alps from across the lake. Our room was quite comfortable and spacious, though could use a bit of updating and modernizing. Aside from that, we love every part of our stay. The lobby and restaurant areas are beautifully decorated with an elegant European flare. The staff were way beyond accommodating and helpful. All of them, but particularly Paulo our bartender and waiter (one evening) was a delight to talk with and a wealth of information. We had dinner one evening in the price-fix restaurant. I wasn't certain after reading not the best reviews, but we were given a gift certificate so we went to see. We were very happy that we did. The service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. We also choose from an extensive wine menu and were recommended some wonderful bottles of wine. Our stay at the Rene-Capt was wonderful, as was our time in Montreux during the Christmas market time. Couldn't have been happier!
