This hotel has a nice lobby. I'm sure the rooms were considered standard 100 years ago, but not now. The only amenity was a 24-inch TV hung on the wall in the corner. No plugs for charging devices. No comfortable chair. No sofa. They made our room a triple by placing another twin bed along the wall. There is no parking except public parking. Breakfast in the basement ballroom was decent. We would pass on this hotel unless you want to experience an old hotel well past its prime.
We walked from the train station to the hotel and it was a relatively flat, easy 20 minute walk with cases. We were offered a warm welcome and shown to our room. We booked with Thomson and paid a supplement for a side lake view room. What I didn't really expect was for the room to be on the ground floor, with little lake view, but the main problem was the lack of privacy! The room directly fronted the communal sunbathing garden area with sun beds. Therefore, during the day, until late evening, we always had guests sunbathing directly outside of our room, meaning that we needed to keep the blinds drawn if we wanted any privacy. And with no criticism of the guests, but of the hotel layout, they were quite often noisy! We did ask to be moved, offering to pay any difference for a higher balcony room, but were advised that the hotel was fully booked. The breakfast was as to be expected, but the croissants started to run out after 9am. The waiting staff were attentive , both at breakfast and dinner. There are great views from the bar terrace, but the bar manager seemed to get quite stressed easily. Despite the disappointment of our room, the hotel is in a lovely location, with great views, on the side of the hotel overlooking the lake, from anywhere, but rooms on the ground floor. It's a flat 40 minute walk along the promenade out of the back of the hotel and left to Chateau Chiilon and a further 5/10 minutes to an outside swimming pool. It's free entry to just have a drink, but if we'd been there for any longer we would have gone back for a swim, as it was like a lake infinity pool. It's perhaps just a reminder, that rather than trusting that a holiday company will secure a room we'll be happy with, we should also do our own research. The hotel is very Art Deco/Rustic with great features, just look at the radiators in the snooker room.
i stayed here at this hotel for 2 nights in july 2017, this a good hotel overall, rooms on the lake are the best, the room is wide with good bathroom facilities, the view fom the room on lake is gorgoues, the food at the breakfast is less than average, ther is a little varaietes, this needs to be reviewed from the hotel manegers.the location is good its neear the shopping street and directly on the lake.
A very bad hotel, lacking everything like the hospitality, there is very hot no air conditioning, I could not sleep, and the train passes in front of the hotel that is annoying very disgusting . If you have children you do not think of booking there. The hotel owner has a Bad mood and her dog is very annoying
Golf-Hotel Rene Capt is at the east of Mountreux and is about 20 minutes walk distance to the center. Location of the hotel is just by the lake and the promenade in front of the hotel is beatifull. The hotel lobby view is fantastic. My room was at the back by the railway but I did not hear the trains.
This is a super hotel situated on Lac Leman at Bon Port and within easy walking distance or short bus ride to Montreux centre. The yellow canopies hanging from the rooms on the lake side really enhance the hotels look and is easy to spot from outside Friendly English speaking staff, a very clean family run hotel with good food. There is a lift down to the large breakfast room and indoor restaurant and up to the rooms if the stairs are a problem. The terrace area, where you can eat or drink has a splendid view across the lake and there is a sitting area in the gardens with gates leading out into the lake walk. There aren't any tea making facilities in the room and they don't encourage the use of your own (I read this somewhere) but this didn't spoil our stay. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.
We stayed for 3 nights in June in a lake view room on the third floor. Our room was a good size as was the bathroom. Bed was comfortable but pillows were too soft - we asked for firmer pillows but they didn't have any. We had a couple of tub chairs plus a desk and small fridge in the room. Small balcony with wonderful views of Lake Geneva & the mountains. There is no air-conditioning in the rooms so it was hot at night for sleeping. The breakfast room, terrace bar, garden & outdoor areas are lovely and the hotel is right on the lakefront so you can walk into Montreux or to Chillion Castle along the lakefront promenade. Buffet breakfast was good. You can hear the train at times but not an issue if you are in a lake view room. Wi-fi worked well, good selection of english TV channels available.
We stayed in the Hotel for 2 nights in a room facing the lake. The staff was very nice and warm and helped us with all of our needs. (If you have a car it would be a good idea to order a parking place in advance) The rooms are pretty basic but clean and organized and the bath and shower are very nice and clean.
Classic old swiss hotel, not renovated, but rooms are fine, clean, quiet spacious. At the bar they offer you complimentary champagne which was a nice gesture, breakfast is tasty and cosy in a bright nice classical room.
We had a balcony room which had stunning views across lake Geneva towards the Mont Blanc mountains. The room was very clean with fridge and safe, the t.v. had bbc, itv movie channels excellent wifi but no coffee/tea making. Breakfast was buffet style with cheeses, eggs, cereals etc. we had one evening meal which was very good no complaints there. There is a terrace overlooking the lake and garden great to sit and relax with a drink and watch the world go by after days outing loved that. The staff were very friendly and helpful giving pointers to where to go and what to see. There is a 201 bus stop just outside the hotel this takes you in to Montreux and beyond to Vevey or to Villeneuve we used it everyday and was free with the local travel pass you get from the hotel. The hotel is like a palace and could not really fault it.
