Half Moon Motel & Cottages

Just a spur of the moment escape to New Hampshire. The place was pricey and I don't mind paying as long as I get something for the $$$. The place was way to small. Extremely disappointed with the bed, valley in the middle. The tv in the bedroom also sported 12 channels??? The bathroom shower would have been good for me when I was a teenager, a little tough to move around in now that I'm in my 50's. The staff was friendly and the pool was clean and cool...

It was exactly what my brother and I needed. We went to a concert and just needed a place to sleep and shower. This place met both of those needs and it had a nice in ground pool for swimming. If staying in the area again would definitely consider staying here again.

Great location, friendly staff, great price. I would stay again.

Half moon? That's all it gets. Very small room, no place for luggage, laptop or even sit down. Not clean, with debris on the floor and spider webs on the wall. Better stay away from it.

We stayed at this hotel to go on the cruise and not have to drive home that night. The walk was nice and short. The room was big. The beds were fairly small and not very comfortable. The room was ordinary, tv was small, micro, and small fridge was a plus.

Hotel was exactly what I was looking for. Right in the heart of Weirs Beach in Laconia NH. There is a bunch to do right around the hotel and a great jumping off point for various attractions in the area. Stayed in one of the 1 bdr cottages. Good for a getaway and kid friendly.

Half Moon Motel, located on a hill a few steps from the water, is about as average as it gets. The room works for sleeping and unwinding, and that's about it. The beds are comfortable and clean, although who knows what's lurking under the surface. The bathroom is clean, but the sink is out in the room. The closet in the corner had some kind of leak, so the management put a dehumidifier in the room. While that might seem odd, it keeps the whole room drier than the outside air. Speaking of air, the AC in the room was great. Didn't smell musty and the air was cold. The window shades were good, although the slats on the door were broken, which let in a lot of light early in the morning. Overall, it's just an average motel with what you'd expect for a budget place. Nothing special, but far from awful.

If you are looking to stay in the midst of the activity, this is the place: live music, fireworks, a half block to the beach with its boardwalk. If you are looking for a quiet New Hampshire get away, this is not the place!!

Very nice inside cottage, lots to do within walking distance on Weirs Beach, could not have been happier.

Location was good but very noisy. The cottage was fairly clean but very out dated. Hard to access the cottage because of a hill with no stairs. Not all cottages are easily assessable.

Room was not as advertised-the pull out sofa was a futon and very uncomfortable to sit on as a sofa. The bathroom had no ventilation and the only window was not properly attached. The entire sash was removed to provide ventilation in the very TINY bathroom. The power to the unit was VERY limited, signs indicated that the coffemaker and microwave were not to be used at the same time. The counter with the sink was sagging.

we stayed in a cottage style room. the rooms were clean and adequate, just like staying at a camp.

These are old cottages. For those of us who grew up in New England, we know these. Old structures, old fixtures, minimal amenities. But, you don't come to Wiers Beach to stay in your cottage. You come to Wiers Beach for Wiers Beach. The cottages are adequate, with nice views of the lake. They have AC, heat, and electricity. They have cable TV, funny little burner plate kitchenettes. They have everything you NEED. Don't know about WiFi. Didn't need it. If you expect to be pampered in your hotel with every amenity imaginable, this is not your place. If you want a clean bed, a place to change, heat up some bacon and eggs, and head out to enjoy Winnepesaukee. This is perfect.

It was a great atmosphere with a wonderful view of lake at the front.

Great experience. Would go back again. Cute and cozy.

Great view of the lake, but just dirty and too expensive for what you get ! Look for another - CLEAN - alternative !

The hotel is situated on a hill overlooking the Lake. The view was GREAT and having a screened in front porch allowed us to enjoy the view night and day. Other than that and the pool was really clean that was it. The cottage we stayed at was falling apart. Some front porch screens we patched or being help on by duct tape. There were 2 beds NOT BAD and a dresser. the bottom draw on the dresser fell apart on me. The ceiling fan had LOTS of dust and grung on the blades and looks like it hadn't been cleaned ALL SEASON. The window A/C unit was functional but beat up. When I went to turn the heat on (base board) the unit fell apart on me. I had to snap everything back into place but it did work. Extension cords were used to power the TV and A/C and there was a LONE battery operated smoke detector was mounted on the ceiling far to out of reach to test. There was NO blinds on the door window (I hung a towel over it). The bathroom sink was GROSS. The overflow had RUST STAINS coming out of it and the hot water kept dripping and it looked like it had been doing that for quite some time due to the stain the dripping water left. The shower was crammped but there was plenty of hot water. There were a few utensils in the room and a hot plate I guess you could cook on. The microwave worked and the fridge was up too high and froze our water but I turned it down and it was fine. Also the front porch light was HANGING from the electrical wires inside. the whole thing had me wondering if the place had ever been inspected!!! We want to go back to Laconia next year for Bike Week but we won't be staying at the Half Moon.

The Weirs Beach area is nice, it's a throwback to an earlier time period, a very nostalgic looking older town. The staff was friendly and accommodating to the best of their abilities, however the rooms are tiny, the shower-bathtub was dirty, there was like a yellowed glue on the shower floor. Bathroom tile has a really sloppy caulking job. Plenty of spiders in the room I was unhappy with and the room they moved me to. The Motel rooms have cinderblock walls, perhaps the cottages are nicer. No Shampoo in the rooms either, that was a first for me. I don't know how this rated 4 out of 5 stars on Orbitz. I won't book here or with Orbitz again.

it has nice view from the motel. Very friendly staff and helpful. Good management by the office. My family really enjoy the stay, but there was one thing that we didnt like, was some guests making a lot of noise during quite time

We went to a concert up the street and stayed here for the night. It was great to wake up to the quiet town and beautiful view on our porch.
