Actually I shouldn't blame the staff - it's management. The first morning, we couldn't find the coffee cups. They were at the bar. Not anywhere near the coffee pots. They ran out of eggs. The second morning we had cups at our table but no eggs, they ran out of juice and the bread was hard as a rock They just didn't have enough people on hand to run a buffet or COOK for a hotel full of tourists all of whom had early morning calls to get on their tour buses Poor staffing
Two night stay here ... we chose this hotel for being in central La Paz as we didn’t want to be out of town in the south part of the city where a lot of the hotels are. I was right on the location, but should have gone for a different (better) hotel. The hotel is just a bit tired - both in its furnishings and the attitude of the staff. A few examples :- - door handle came off in hand one morning! - rooms have old style furnishings and just a bit tired at edges. Bath for example was massive cracked. - room had been set up as one person room - one cup, one set of shampoo etc so we asked before going out to dinner to be fixed and also to get some milk so could make hot drinks. Arrived back at 11pm and nothing been done. Went down to reception to ask again and 10 mins later someone arrived with cup and shampoo - no milk. They counted towels and said that two was right number (not two towels pre person which normally have - one for body and one for hair). 10 mins later and a call to say would be charged for milk if we wanted it ... why have coffee/tea in room if no milk available? - went down to breakfast to get a cup or tea and coffee when opened and the staff were not happy that taking cups out of restaurant. They also initially tried to say we then couldn’t come back for breakfast as they were desperate to cross us of off the list. Shower was pretty rubbish - hot water not easy to come by - sometimes 5 mins after turning on it appeared! There is a bar on the 12th floor and is noisy - we could here the music very clearly 2 floors down. And it doesn’t finish particularly early. Consider La Casona if your looking at this hotel . Small step up in price but also a massive step up in quality!
Rooms are very dated and spa/ gym facilities could be from faulty towers. Staff have good intentions but poor English which leads to mistakes. Key cards have problems which mean they often don’t work, we had five during our two night stay.
This was the hotel where we were advised to stay by our tour operator. The location is excellent and the hotel is very good. Although not a luxury hotel and despite being taken care in some details you can notice that the hotel is old but currently undergoing refurbishment of the rooms. The location is excellent: a 1-minute walk from Prado Avenue and 6/7 minutes from St. Francis Church Square. From the hotel we can walk through the historic area of La Paz. We had an upgrade in the room. The room was huge, nicely decorated and everything worked. Excellent bathrooms. The wifi worked throughout the hotel. We had dinner at BISTRO because the other restaurant in the hotel was closed. It was ok. Nothing special However, there are several other restaurants near the hotel. Very attentive staff - incidentally a constant throughout Bolivia!
Really impressed with this hotel. I had stayed at a different hotel in La Paz, which was great, but once I arrived at Hotel Europa, I ended up booking an extra night! The WiFi is super fast, hotel staff are welcoming and kind, and shower is hot. Breakfast buffet is also nice, with an egg station and good variety of hot foods, along with the usual cold cuts, fruits, and bread. Good location and lots of good eateries around. The spa is nice and a welcome refuge after walking around La Paz in the rain. Thank you Hotel Europa!
One of the business hotel in Bolivia La Paz - grand lobby. Attentive service smooth checkin great WiFi in room and everywhere. Love the restaurant and breakfast many selections and start early for those who wants to hop out early for full day trip. Room is clean neat very comfortable beds. Room service was quick. Staffs were very helpful on questions and directions also recommendations. Welcome drink at the roof top bar was nice with good view of la paz city. Hotel location is good with few blocks away to witches market, restaurants around many choices. Overall happy stay in Europa!
Definitely needs a refresh for interiors, but this is a good place, given its location. The breakfast is hearty and the rooms are comfortable. I can imagine this being a 4 star back in the day, and it has potential to be a top place in La Paz.
Hotel Europa is a haven of peace and luxury in a busy downtown LaPaz. Fantastic pool, helpful staff, good food. Large rooms and right in the centre of town. All in all a pleasant hotel in a vibrant city.
Right at the city center, convenient location in La Paz! A walking distance to main historical places and easy access to public transportation. Breakfast Buffet was good enough with a variety of breads, fruits, cereals and a cooking station where you can get freshly cooked eggs to your liking. Room was nice, clean and spacious; bathroom had a heated floor which I thought was brilliant! Staff was friendly for the most part, except the night I arrived, the front desk guy was not having a good day and we had to pick up the pieces! After a long, full day trip from Puno, all you want to do is rest! However he wanted to make the registry as hard and complicated as he could, not only for me but for a young couple that arrived at the same time as me; being tired as I was, didn’t feel like starting an argument with this person, but I made sure to tell some the very next day, where I was treated respectfully and was helped as I deserved! Still with that incident, I will recommend this hotel!
Would’ve been a genuine 4* hotel in its time. Could do with a refurbish to restore its status. Great location and service as you would expect from a 4* hotel. I had an issue whereby I left my reading glasses behind. Not overly impressed by the help I received. Maybe that was a language issue but I really don’t know. Charging USD204 to return the glasses to Australia seems excessive. But it was my fault in the first place.
