Candlewood Suites La Crosse N2.5 out of 5.0

Because a large event was taking place in LaCrosse that weekend, we were very limited on availability. We had our two small dogs with us so had to find a pet friendly hotel. On rooms listed around $100.00, we had to pay $200.00 a night! I have no problem paying more for the dogs which we did separately. We had stayed in a hotel in Iowa at half the price and was much nicer. All the staff were very friendly and quite helpful. Should we head to LaCrosse again we will not be staying at Candlewood Suites if it’s still $200.00 a night.
After price comparing 5 hotels in the area for a wedding, I was told to check the Candlewood Suites. What a find ! Nice, large rooms with kitchens. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the area.
We visited La Crosse for the weekend with some friends and booked this hotel through hotwire. It's a nice hotel within walking distance of downtown. Our room was clean and the service was good. But, we were very disappointed that there was no pool, hot tub, or continental breakfast.
Got us into room early in the day. Hotel was very clean and the front desk staff was great. Very informative of the area, helpful and pleasant. The room was great and clean. Lobby very nice. Would definitely stay again.
We enjoyed our stay here and would stay again. The room was clean and there was a grocery and liquor store within walking distance. There were also 2 fast food restaurants within walking distance if that is your preference. This hotel offers a small kitchen setup which included a refrigerator, sink and two burner hot plate. It came with all the pots, pans, dishes, silverware etc. you would need to make a hot meal as well as a dishwasher. Outside there were two large gas grills and a small patio area which was well used while we were there. The hotel was very quiet even though it was full during our stay. If you are looking for fancy decor and amenities, this is not the place for you. No fancy bed covers, drapes or bath accessories. The rooms have a simple, plain decor and are one big room. The kitchen is not a separate entity. However, it was very clean and a good choice for the money. My only negative is that because it is an extended stay hotel, they do not offer daily maid service. You make your own bed, take out your on trash etc. Again, not a problem for me, but might be for others. The staff quickly responded to any needs I had for clean towels etc. You are just a mile or so from Riverside Park and downtown. It was a great location for the Great River Road trip. One day we went south up to Bay City and came back on the Minnesota side and the next day we took it north to Prairie du Chien. It was nice to come back and make a small meal instead of trying to find restaurants each night!
The staff was so good on the phone trying to get us the rooms we wanted and then when we arrived they were equally helpful. Clean. Outlets at easily accessible above the night stands and in the kitchen. Parking good. Great Harvest bread and a very nice grocery store next door. Walking distance to some fabulous bars and restaurants. (We recommend The Old Crow). One suggestion - brighten up the rooms. It seems like all hotel rooms are dark. Dim bulbs.
Love these guys, very friendly, clean rooms, comfy beds, and great parking. I love the barbeque gazebo out back, and cannot get over how awesome these guys are. very helpful and fun people. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone.
The room was very clean and comfortable and nicely furnished. Bed was comfy and sheets & pillows were soft. The "Cupboard" had a fantastic variety of food and snacks always available on the honor system. Front desk staff were all friendly and professional. I will absolutely stay here again and recommend to friends and family!
This hotel is about a 10-15 minute easy walk north of downtown and has plenty of free parking. The room was spacious and quiet. Breakfast is not included but there is a cooktop, microwave and full refrigerator. A large grocery store is a very short distance away. The room was fairly clean but could use a bit mote attention to detail. Our recliner's material was frayed on the head rest and the bed duvet was yellowed. Internet was spotty, functioning well at times and intermittently not at all. If I found a good rate, I would likely stay again.
Instead they have a funky little room where you can microwave or buy food off the shelf or refrigerator/freezer ALL FOR A PRICE. This was a turn off. We did not stay here as we were invited to visit by relatives but I think I'd check out other hotels before going back.
